@killertctma found out they were custom made by a friend of his..

@inkey2 yup! I believe in 1960 the vair spare was in the trunk...
@inkey2 That's the way they were designed. Simple and to the point. The mission of a commuter car become a sports car classic. I'm sure a modern version of the car would have the spare upfront, for a little extra weigh over the front wheels.
