Guys, chill the fuck out. I'm sorry that I said that his cage was bad when really, it's quite a good little set up. Back then I literally knew nothing about snakes and their psychology so please ignore my ignorant comment from so long ago.
Just saying on the bark topic, if you take any organic matter and put into water it will loose some of its pigment to the water. If you really don't believe me do the same thing but with a few leaves or normal tree bark. I use store bark and my snake is just fine.
hes going to need a bigger tank rather than that dinky little bin/tub with nothing in it because its going to grow about maybe 4-6 feet long and thats as tall as my sisters boy friend this python maybe little right now but it will get bigger thats why i have a 150 gallon glass terrarium for mine and he loves it he bit me when i disturbed him so he loves his tank and if i disturb him again the same thing will happen so get a bigger tank because you will need it and please put more in the tank
when you were picking him up i would have bet $1000 that he would bite you your luky how tame your green tree is if i did that to mine she would kill me!
Eurgh. I can't stand the comments from people who clearly have no idea how to keep snakes or what their requirements are. You sound quite young but very knowledgeable.
Ummmm. When you heat up those lids, they release toxic chemicals.... So yeah. And you should probably stick your water dish to the side of the cage (off the ground), because he will rarely go down there. Really nice snake.
@chizoioioi I meant that specifically. If that certain python wasn't in captivity, it wouldn't exist. Might be a little too much for you to understand though. It's ok, sometimes understanding stuff is hard....
@jasonaaronrose Since we're being sarcastic, I'm sure you're know a great deal about the emotional needs of reptiles.Green Tree Pythons, as with most snakes, are solitary animals who desire nothing more than to be secluded and unnoticed so long as they remain well fed. While I personally prefer to make my enclosures attractive and decorative, there's really zero evidence that snakes can tell or would care anyway.
@jasonaaronrose Plastic tubs, like the one in the video, are perfect enclosures for pythons of multiple species. They provide the security and humidity that they need to thrive in captivity.
@jasonaaronrose Hes setting up a breeders cage cocksucker shut the fuck up if he going to keep it then he would build or get a cage and make it more natural so again shut the fuck up you troll
@mikaboom123 well no i reccomend getting a ball python(any morph) males get about 4 ft females get 5-5 1/2 and theyre really docile . i got 4 of them . if u want a 7-8 ft snake redtail boas are just as docile(if held alot and fed well) and both balls and redtails really dont have a problem feeding. ive been researcing green trees for over 6 months and bascically kno about everything, they needa be held everyday so they dont become aggressive, + theyre nippy, so u cant be scared
@mikaboom123 capets are beutiful and just easy. nippy but get calm as u hold them. they only climb on branches wen yung but also might have feeding problems converting to rats
(continuing) they are high maintnence and somtimes regirgitate and have feeding problems, u NEED a fogger for humidity NEED to be misted everyday change water everyday and need substrate(moss) do research untill u got everything down pat(hope i helped, add me as a friend if u want to learn more check out my vids ill do a cage update on any snake and subscribe) =)
@JMHITMAN69 haha nice doubt that considering you make videos of search engines . well i know definateley alot more then you about gtps, etbs, ball pythons and any boas then you do smart ass
@woopsreptiles im on my son channel dumbass i made him searching for a snake and since hes so smart he and made a google video which i was impressed with so i let he have a baby biak green tree python hatchling i hatched out a month ago and hes 9 so yeah fuc off
Nice job on the video just thought i should tell you that the fir bark bedding has tannins, a natural compound present in most bark, (the compound that will stain the water) in it so therefore even fir bark straight from the wild will do that to the water. it is entirely harmless.
The only thing i have to say is actually if you were to go out and take almost any bark off of a tree and leave it in water it will turn red. so repti-bark really is safe but bedding is just a pain in general. but great vid!
they are definately large enough to devour a whole pinky, i have a couple snakes and my little milk snake, hes tinny like the size of a pencil maybe smaller ate the whole thing
Most woods have natural tannins that will seep into water. That is why when you put driftwood in a fish tank as a natural water softener, it may tint your water. Some people recommend boiling the wood, which can be helpful. My fish tank water looks like really really weak tea, and my fish love it. That's what a river looks like anyway.
Anybody recommend a good online forum for specifically GTP's? I am interested in buying one, for the first time. :) Thanks in advance to all who help, peace!
I dunno bout dyes in the repti-bark you mention but some woods, like bogwood, do have naturally occuring tanins in them which will turn water a reddish brown colour.
if they drink from their coil, is the water bowl just for extra humidity... Also why does that snake only eat pinkies, i have corn snakes that size that take down fuzzies no problem
@24cupcake24 This is actually a really great set up. You saw this guy's snake, and it was obviously healthy and very happy. As for how natural it looks, well... That snake has never seen a natural environment. It's captive bred. So if you argue that the enclosure needs to look more natural, you argue for display purposes only.
@24cupcake24 WOW! You're really critical of someone who actually knows what he's talking about! You need to correct your information before giving this guy any crap! Taller ISN'T better for GTP's! These animals live in trees and go from branch to branch (meaning they need length not height). They rarely go to the ground. What they need is an even temperature gradient and good humidity! A 2x2x2 tank (for an adult) is quite sufficient! Do your research!
the way i out my corn snake in his cage is put him on the top of the cage and he'll crawl on the top of the cage like a branch over to the corner where the bowl is get a drink and go back in his hide...
Hey love your vids, i really want a green tree python but i was just wondering a few things how big do they get full grown? what species / type is yours it started with and S ? And how much would they generally be? And do they make good pets because i heard they can be vicious? Thank you very much really hope u can respond.
I dunno if I could just put my snake in a tupper ware container, like I have seen a lot of people do, thanx for the sexing info, wasn't sure whether to get my corn snake sexed or not =)
i like ur vids but those gtp's need a better home, i knouw u know what ur doing but... those things needm more natural enviorement... but still i envy u for how cool those look
First off, 95 degrees is too hot for a chondro. Also, you want to have a thermostat because heat uniformity is extremely critical for neo chondros. The heat lamp on top of the tub is a bad idea because you want a horizontal temperature gradient, not a vertical gradient. You covered tons of trivial information, but failed to acknowledge the importance of temperature and humidity, which are perhaps the most important parameters of chondro husbandry. Do your research next time before you post.
I AM GETTING A GTP!!!!!!!!! ITS TAME, It is Completely Green I think it is 2 years old. NOT SEXED, I dont know what kind even though I know alot about the GTPS
I haven't done your experiment with ReptiBark, but if you dunk any type of wood it release natural tannins into the water, it doesn't mean they used dye. Nice snake by the way!
one thing with your heating. putting your heating source on top. wouldn't that be bad because most reptiles need to be able to adjust their heat. if your hole cage is the same heat they can't do that. obviously.
I heard that handling them can stress them out to the point of stress and if you are going to handle them , it should never be under a year old. Also, I was tild this can cause kinking of the skin. I'm not bashing you, I was just going to ask your opinion on the info I've gathered. I don't own one of these but would like to learn more about them , really cool video thanks.
@pythontricker If you are a breeder it's more than OK to keep your snakes in small enclosures to keep the overheads down. But in your case, and mine too, you should make it look more like a VIVARIUM, and not so much like a "Breeder's Cage".
I would recommend you try using a mix of tree bark, ground coconut, moss, and a few real plants. Your enclosures will look way more realistic and attractive, and at the same time they become almost self-maintaining.
you really should add more plants to the tank, gives the snake some more hidingplaces, and a more natural look cause atm, your tank looks like a surgery room or something =/
Those perches are very close to the lid, and You should have put the vent holes near the bottom because of how heat rises and will escape. And also if I were you I would invest in a ProProducts heat panel probably in a 40watt or alittle under.
And invest in a spyder robotics thermostat. What I told you will cost you over $200 but with that type of snake its more than worth buying....And 1 last thing I would invest in a light with a UVB bulb.. So dont think im hatein on you, Im just looking out.
hey nice python a few days ago my corn snake that i had for 2 years got out of his cage because a rat got in my house and she got it and ran away but now i am getting a green tree python and a stronger cage
i have a few questions please reply because im defonatly going to buy one. how much , do they stay yellow , and at what age can you feed them live mice thanks =]

@pythontricker Key word, BREEDER. This little girl/guy is a youngen. I definitely agree with 24 cupcake24. Make it taller and more natural looking.

Go ahead and enhance their life and looks!!

they like thinner twigs

only if your cage is interesting to them
afnedlrleewr 2 years ago
you really should add more plants to the tank, gives the snake some more hidingplaces, and a more natural look cause atm, your tank looks like a surgery room or something =/

Hi first cage, how many quarts was it?

I know it is like a year later but you could have fed him fuzzies at that point he was large enough :)
