foie gras is never really force fed to begin with. the anatomy of a duck is different than humans. so when the topic is spoken about they're speaking in comparison to humans. the tube down the esophagus of a duck causes no harm. and it is such an ancient practice. the french and jews have been producing foie for a long time. it is such a misunderstood ingredient.
@stevensartifacts Yes it does you toolbag, I would gladly kill a baby cow for veal than let it live for a few more years. Fuck ducks man, they're just birds.
The Humane Society states: "Foie gras is the diseased, fattened liver of factory-farmed ducks. To produce foie gras, producers force-feed ducks an unnatural amount of food through a pipe thrust down their throats until their livers expand to ten or more times their natural size."
Secondly, "foie gras consumption may increase the risk of developing amyloidosis in susceptible people, which is difficult to treat and often fatal".
haha half-sided truths once again. foie gras produced from force-feeding is a small margin of all foie gras produced, not to mention already banned in certain areas.
and the scare tactics are ridiculous. there are many more pressing diseases out there that are "difficult to treat and often fatal".
ive been to the two foie farm in the US and neither of them use force feeding. the ducks that old still move ran to the feeder. and those that couldnt move got the butler treatment.
there was no force feeding they were all wiling. those guys days were numbered from the day they were born. they should feel lucky to feel that noble to be foie gras
its a shame and a sign of disrespect to serve/cook foie gras with so many additioned ingredients. let this beautiful product speak for itself, theres no reason polluting it with this other shit!
Your definition of beautiful is very confusing, unless it is simply based on lack of information about this product. Watch the YouTube video, "Foie Gras Assembly Line".
Education never hurt ~ you may even prevent some serious health issues were you to avoid consuming Foie Gras (you're welcome).
Well generally the other iron chefs were not there when they were not required to battle, so it is rare to see them there at other times besides during special battles like the King of Iron Chef Tournament or anything like that.
Responses are not working properly. Were you asking me? Chen took on a French chef in foie gras. The tie-breaker was asparagus, and the chefs tied again. I believe it was the only double-tie in Iron Chef history. Archo/Leon has has not uploaded the battle, but you can find it online.
I saw another foie gras challenge (French v. Chinese), and I know it went to overtime, but I did not see that result. This one looks interesting, but I think residual foie gras oil will congeal in that dipping sauce.

@merph1 But they're being force fed more than they can normally eat. Otherwise they wouldn't need to be force fed, they'd just be fed.
So it is cruel, even if the tube doesn't hurt them.

Oh please.
PETA would rather a person die than an animal.
They are twisted tree hugging, hippy queers.

STFU ABOUT FOIE GRAS PRODUCTION! THE STUFF IS GOOD AND YOU KNOW IT. Oh wait, you wouldn't/ And if you did you'd be hypocritical dicks!

@jbrainsthinker STFU ABOUT FRIED HUMAN BABY SKIN PRODUCTION. THE STUFF IS GOOD AND YOU KNOW IT.
your logic is a complete failure. flavor has nothing to do with the ethics of the food.

How could you consider Foie Gras not polluted?

well the challenger is a french chef. so it's obvious the dishes are going to be saucy. french chefs are all about the sauce.
merph1 3 years ago
The duck and foie gras dish by the challenger, is awfully smothered in sauce, i mean, it is a sauce, not a soup right? ridiculous!
2 dishes as well?
really that is not impressive! Also the foie gras dishes are not at all original on the challenger's side
I"m NOT at all impressed!

Take note that at the 5:22 point, when Nakamura is being interviewed, you will get a glimpse of Sakai.
