besides the pilot who crashed may have made a huge error on the navigation or even on one of his or her own checklists or even possibly one of the system pannels in the cockpit failed and they gave pilots the wrong data therefore it caused them to crash.
if you dont believe or trust me go on your flight simmulator set the visibility very high, set weather to stormy, and you will learn why pilots use the auto pilot to perform an autoland. there are also flight simmulator auto land videos most of them ushually have like pmdg. but again like i said i have no idea what you do on your simmulator but just think about this.... without the auto pilot how would you locate the runway, locate the localizer, locate the glideslope and everything else.
i would highly recomend u seeing some videos of pilots landing in extreamly bad weather using the autopilot or performing an auto land. just immagine in real life when u are flying an aircraft and the visibility has dropped so much that you cant even see the runway you would get lost and you would crash or u may over shoot the runway. pilots also use the autopilot to find the localizer and the glideslope of the runway. now i have no idea how you do it on your simmulator.
ok here is the thing about the weather conditions when u are arriving at the airport, ushually in flight school they would say if the weather conditions get worst and the pilots are preparing to land at what ever airport they have to use the auto pilot that way they can perform something called an "auto land" i hope u know what in auto land even is. auto land has helped many pilots get to the airport successfully and now your saying that "do not use the auto pilot when u are landing.
we actually had such a bad weather last week we had to divert.. pilot tried to land two times and failed both times (luckily he pulled up in time.. I happen to still be alive)...
