Too bad the humanist utopia that Star Trek envisioned isn't even sorta/kinda coming into fruition. The nihilistic punk asshole on the bus, he's the future.
@deathead666 I read that he was involved in the making of ST4, wrote the song and recorded with his buddies then convinced the director to put him and the song in.
This was the only time Edge of Etiquette ever recorded anything or played anywhere. There is no recording of the song available for purchase anywhere. There are copies of the original recording floating around the internet. No royalties or licensing fees of any kind were ever paid to anyone for the use of the song "I Hate You" in Star Trek IV. Thatcher did get some royalties when the song was later used in the movie Back To The Beach, but the song was not included on the film's soundtrack album.
i remember seeing the movie star trek i forgot wich one anyways i remeber this guy i mean i dont know why i was watching it but i thought this guy was such a bad ass i even watched it till the end to see what his name was i think it was kirk thatcher or somthing i never looked him up later but i thought he was just an acter but i found out he also sang for this song so thats cool
Laughing Squid treats us to this funny clip from an episode of Quincy. Jack Klugman is trying to save a young girl lured into the violent world of the punk underground. He visits to a punk rock club, bravely goes on stage, and pleads passionately for information about the girl's whereabouts. The punks, in preposterously clownish make-up, respond with sarcasm, socio-political rhetoric, and snot-nosed apathy. I enjoyed this almost as much as the Ironside clip with Tiny Tim at a beatnik club.
this song was written and performed by the guy that played the punk in star trek IV (pictured above) who wasn't even an actor but assistant to director and star leonard nimoy. playerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I love the old shit.. I was into the scene in the 80's.. Fucking great. Its too bad things change...There are many who will never know the more fun, and freedom that was then. Add some Old black Flag, and Some Conflict, etc... Good shit.

That song is a fake punk song that was made for the movie Star Trek IV The Voyage Home 1986. The associate producer Kirk Thatcher wrote and recorded this cheesy song. He also played the FAKE punk. U fucking poseurs!
@ctubauer47 store.intrada.com has Released a remastered complete Star Trek 4 Sountrack and also includes this song!! I'm not sure on the quality of that yet but should be great! :)
@hawanja I'm pretty sure the guy who played the punk (also assistant director of the film) wrote the song and whipped it up in a recording studio. Paramount wanted something like duran duran or flock of seagulls to play but kirk thatcher (the punk) requested otherwise and wrote the song for them.
Nice song, great scene.
