I go to a college that's over 30% Jewish students and I work with freshman, so I end up working with a lot of overwrought Jewish mothers. I thought the premise of the film was good, but the acting on the part of the mother was too out there. She was just too over the top in her charicature to be believable for me; but maybe that's just because I'm aware of a lot of 'Jewish mother stereotypes' that weren't picked up in this that would have made it more believable/accurate.
This isn't an original idea. This was published in a joke book years and years ago. The punch line "I'm not saying you did, and I'm not saying you didn't" is even a direct quote. It was said by Jackie Martling, the guy from the Howard Stern show.
You're the first person I've heard say that some people actually like to live up to a stereotype. That is so true. And that actress pulls off the jewish mom stereotype like it's second nature.
I've actually seen most of them, but on the website, not YouTube. The festival is quite a blessing, as I've been waiting to see some of these films for a while now. Aquarium was a wonderful treat, considering how much I heard about it at Sundance.
Oh, and I only feel that way about Punch Line films, as many center everything around the 'payoff'. Luckily this one was pretty strong in the other aspects, especially acting.
Yay! First to watch this on YouTube! I feel priveledged! AWESOME ending! Classic jokes do make classic short films! The actors were SO genuine and beleiveable. But the whole time, I kept wondering, are Jewish moms really like this? I mean before her little prank, just how she can't sit through dinner without thinking, wondering, meddling... it just seems like such a huge stereotype! But then again, I had a Catholic mom. That's a whole other movie...
haha that was hilarious... I was wondering how she was going to be sneaky about it XD :P busted...

Even though the mom did an excellent acting job, it's hard not to despise her character - even though she was quite clever.

it's a very very very old parable that goes back to BC ages... it wasn't meant to be an original story... many people have heard it before..

Too slow.. I predicted the ending at the beginning. Nothing original.

Fairly well made, although I'm not a big fan of punch-line films.
