I think the stories of these wild dogs catching 80% of their prey are exagerated.They are quite small predators and many animals stand their ground against them,like these wildebeest do. Infact they mainly hunt impala and other smaller ungulates,but have no chance against adult wildebeest,zebra or warthog unless these are already badly injured and alone.I still respect them as predators but they will never be at the top of the foodchain.

I've seen these dogs kill multiple antelope at once-the videos are on youtube....these dogs used to have packs of 50-80 members and were the most dominant force in africa...now they are endangered-you may not like the way they kill but don't kid yourself...they can kill cape buffalo and zebra....

strangulation by a lion is thought to be a lot longer and horrible death in comparison to the quick and efficient manner in which wild dogs kill, through disembowlment. Even though it looks more painful from our perspective, shock sets in and blood loss occurs hastily thus leading the prey to a quicker death.
