  • pwoper falsetto <3

  • LOL i allways try the falsetto when i sing this song XD

  • the falsettos had me at WOW

  • amazing perfect falsetto *-*

  • When you can actually hear it loud and clear, you have to wonder what it would like when he's doing it. I say, he has a vice in the room, for these special occasions... :P

  • @PwoperLover He was saying to listen to this with bass, so he was complimenting Chris...

  • 4:05 [..."Production of falsetto, on the other hand, vibrates only the ligamentous edges of the vocal folds while leaving each fold's body relatively relaxed. ...]

    en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Falsetto

    Matt Bellamy has got it

  • open another tab with the bass track, THAT's the real stuff!

  • I'd give anything to be in that room when he did that falsetto :( WOW!

  • I just tried singing that high, i have now lost my voice... :(

  • Matt's been doing falsettos since Showbiz... and probably before that... so I don't understand how people are all "omg auto-tune." Um, no.

  • @IslesGirl14 It's him alright, but they use auto-tune to fix imperfections.

  • @carlaladotcom well, yes, of course, but my point was that they don't use auto-tune to create the actual falsetto. He can reach those heights on his own.

  • About the Falsetto I always know :) the first time I listened the 'official' song I catched that <3

  • OMGGG!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!

    mesmerizing

  • OMGGG!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!

  • Jesus Christ!!! How had I never heard that before?!

  • Man that falsetto at the end gave me the chills. So lovely!

  • Holy crap! I could always hear the falsetto layered behind it in the actual song but I didn't realize it was that god damn high!! AMAZING!

  • I can't get that high as a girl oO

  • this shows that matt hits higher than james durbin. so randy was wrong

  • Two words.....Kate Hudson.

She is unworthy. I mean really. Go away.

  • @MyBlackAmbrosia You are unworthy of life.

  • Everyone can do falsettos, but being able to sound as good as this while doing it is another thing.

  • Reminds me the Doctor Who anthem. Genius !

  • -_- You guy are all wrong, a falsetto is when a male sings really high!

  • i have a question.. probably very stupid but what is a falsetto?

  • @arnonono1 a falsetto is where a singers voice reaches such a pitch that is, normally, unreachable

these notes, for Matt, is like a walk in the park for him o.O

  • @Lolman1031 It's really a walk in the park for everyone xD I can do falsettos easily yet I'm not a trained singer... Although of course, Matt's voice is something simply not from this Universe. He's unbeatable, and by singing their songs I'm basically praising the gods of Muse. <3

  • @Lolman1031 falsettos are a walk in the park for everyone, falsettos consist on using a false voice (hence the name "falsetto") producing it with the head to reach high pitches that otherwise would take a lot of work or be completely unreachable. There are, of course, some falsettos that are quite hard, but this is not one of them.

  • @blackspider0 really? ohh ok just clearing it up for me thanks xP

  • @blackspider0 That hugely depends on range. Highest falsetto note here (Victorious) is a G5, same note as Micro Cuts chorus. Hitting it is no problem, making it sound good isn't THAT easy.

  • @arnonono1 falsetto is singing with head voice. For example most singers sing using their chest voice with is their normal register. Matt's normal register is for example any time he sing like he does in say the verses of starlight or any song really. Falsetto is when he uses his head voice and goes into a higher register which he has no problem reaching examples of this are obviously the final chorus of this, the bliss falsetto, micro cuts and the end of showbiz.

  • @Jackisawesum1234 I get it, thank :)

  • im not even a singer and those notes are easy

  • @UberTroll13 lol right because you're not a singer you can't tell what's difficult and what's easy.

  • one person isn't victorious.

  • 1:00 woah, i never realized the "so, COME ON!!" in sync with the guitar

  • Matt's high voice lol

  • i can almost hear the bass

  • HOW DO YOU DO THIS!! :P

  • I can do the same Matt's Falsetto, so, It's not impossible. He's a professional singer. Auto-tune??? Impossible!!!!

  • @IsraelBelo911 yeah i know, a lot of people hear his falsetto and say "auto-tune"...it's stupid, falsetto is difficult to master but not impossible at all if practiced, Matt is just a master at it :)

  • That falsetto was, indeed, delicious.

  • Sa fait mal au zoreille !

  • auto-tune only exsists because of matt's falsettoing!

  • what a falsetto.

  • @NixonNUFC Its the voice that you can use that is high pitched, the voice that you dont speak in pretty much :D

  • @pivotshabz ya for some reason people go crazy over falsetto, i love Muse but its not like you could formulate words using a falsetto, its more impressive if u use chest voice ( i think)

  • @tdrider2008 well he uses chest voice alot to

  • @pivotshabz no i know what one is i meant what a falsetto as in how good it was :p

  • Hey, i read all the comments here, but i wasn't able to find on telling your source for that weird audio track.

How did you get this, or made it ?

I tried to do something inverting phases, adding them etc, and i get : no voice, only a few little late voices in the background, and drums, no more guitar or bass.

Here is what i get :

(damn, cant post link :( )

  • @LRob45 if you got the special edition of the album that had limited numbers, it came with a 5.1 surround sound version of the album where upon you are able to split up the tracks of each songs on your computer

i myself dont have a copy of said album, ive just heard from numerous people that this is how its done

  • @chrisDOTnet OK ! Thanks a lot !!! i'm gonna try to find it !!!

  • Comment removed

  • MATTHEW JAMES BELLAMY YOU ARE MY GOD *w*

  • I wish Matt would do the last chorus with his pharynx such as in this recording, just for my amusement and the ending of stupid Internet arguments about the usage of auto-tune. Matt or Chris have never used auto-tune EVER and they never will.

The last chorus left my ears wet.

  • ok who's the asshole who didn't like this?

  • @Poenice They probably missed the like button by accident. I can't think of any other explanaton; who could not like this?

  • matt's falsetto is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A 4:05, il chante hauuuuut! Décidément, il m'étonnera toujours :)

  • omg last chorus!!! <3 incredibleee

  • this statement can go both ways:

i want matts voice to go out for one concert

    just one!

    so chris can sing

  • @musefreak122 I hope you wouldn't be joining that particular concert.. going to a muse concert without matt singing, is not a muse concert. His voice is a beautiful instrument itself. If he wouldn't sing, the band wouldn't be complete :)

  • why does the guitar fade out at 3:40 im sure it goes on for longer :/

  • @tLlXenonFire it's from the 5.1 mix, which is surround sound.

this has taken one of the mixes out, so where as you would have had the effect the guitar is travelling around the room, you only get part of it coming out of one speaker at a time.

  • I had no idea he sang this falsetto in this song! And who on earth would think he uses autotune or voice-correcting technology? If you listen to Showbiz (the album I mean) there are a few places he is not quite in tune so he's clearly just developed his control since then.

  • great falsetto

  • Delicious indeed

  • guys, dont be stupid. of course he uses tuning in studio...so does everyone. its nearly impossible to be perfectly in tune and the tuning they (he) uses in studio is merely to tune certain parts of the song that he may have sung say 8 cents flat. it isn't autotune. autotune itself is rarely used in studio, because you can get a more refined autotune effect by manually tuning your vocal tracks.

  • @SophomoricHumor

Muse don't use any pitch correction, if you look at an interview with Matt in the studio he says he doesn't - their producer, John Leckie, said leave the mistakes in; it makes the track human. But of course, Muse don't make any mistakes :D

  • @SophomoricHumor Listen to Falling Down - you can clearly hear that he doesn't use pitch correction in that.

Besides, they can hit the same notes live

  • @htfussman32 What does a recording from 99 prove? Just because he didn't use autotune 10 years ago doesn't mean he can't use it today. And yes, Matt can probably hit that note live, but not hold it for that long.

  • @sippe555 Listen to Showbiz live. You will be pleasantly surprised.

And why would he just decide to use autotune when he doesn't even need to?

  • @htfussman32 I have listened to Showbiz live several times. It was last played in Manchester '06, 4 damn years ago. But the last proshot was Reading, and neither of those two comes even close to the G# that he hits in the studio or live in 99 and 00. I haven't checked myself, but according to some comments, this song reaches at least a G, and obviously holds it for a very long time. This is something that Matt hasn't been able to do for years, listen to Bliss at Rock am ring for example.

  • @sippe555

What do you mean it doesn't come close? He hits the same note, more powerfully at Reading than in 99 and 00, and doesn't use vocal effects either. You can clearly hear in the earlier performances a delay was being used. If anything, Matt's voice has improved. And besides, just because an artist doesn't shove all their skills in your face doesn't mean they can't do it anymore. I can juggle, just because I don't carry 3 tennis balls around with me at all times doesn't mean I can't do it.

  • Matt should totally do the falsetto on the last chorus live! That would be epic!

  • I want Matt to do the falsetto live! Pleeeeeeeasse? lol

  • he's hitting a high G. that's ALMOST his highest note (it's the same as micro cuts) but his highest note is a G# in showbiz.

    I'M A LOSER :'D

  • @falldownmore - a# actually ;)

muscle museum (hey you crazy kids)

  • @falldownmore and he actually hits a G# in microcuts later, i think it's at like 2:43 or something

  • @falldownmore don't mean to be an arse lol, but he goes higher than a high G in micro cuts (during the bridge he matches the G# in showbiz)

  • @ClaytonMUSE Naah I checked it, the G#5 is higher.

  • 4:05 holy SHIT i lovee you matt *_*

  • The only auto-tune used on the falsetto is if it at parts it fell flat or went a bit sharp... only to finely tune the note, not to raise it up an octave.

  • @BritneySpearsIlove Too bad Muse keeps all their mistakes in their recordings. No auto-tune is ever used.

  • @eviltokage Your an idiot. haha wow.

  • And people said he couldn't hit those notes anymore...

  • That falsetto is RIDICULOUS. I bet Matt was loling throughout recording that. XD I don't think I've ever heard him go that high!

  • @sparkish808 i still think micro cuts or showbiz is higher :D

  • :O! This was so unexpecting. I love it. <3 And Chris has a beautiful voice.

  • @Amaricanshonni i don't think thats is chris singing - chris does it live but in studio matt does most backing vocals - i think its matts voice with a bit of chorus effect added.

  • Delicious falsetto <3

  • 1. lol he doesn't use auto tune haha

    2. he actually has smaller than average vocal cords no surprise since he isn't really that tall

    3. bellamy has been reaching those notes way before auto tune hit the scene

    4. auto tune very obvious

  • oh damn never knew there was a falsetto in this song

  • Comment removed

  • OMG chris, great singing!

Just need dom to join in lol

  • They must've had about 6 vocal tracks. Chris and Matt are both great singers, personally I think Muse should have at least one song with Chris with lead vocals.

  • where can I find an upload with the drums only?

  • omg 2:39 Chris has an amazing voice :O They should try a song with him singing

  • @matatak94 in the small prints chris and matt splits the chorus. :)

its a good song once you keep listening to it like other muse songs.

  • i hear no auto-tune, just layered vocals

  • @Mayeraregreat

I routinely listen to that performance. It's literally almost a daily affair for me in the mornings. It's so absolutely powerful. The scream at 2:04 (on the YouTube version, the second chorus) is AMAZING!

  • @NYDrummer16 Have you heard Showbiz (Specifically 4 mins 47 seconds into it.)? I'm pretty sure you're WRONG! >:D

  • I freeking love this! (-:

  • btw if you know how to use your vocal chords properly, its not hard to hit such a high falsetto. and for matt who has had sooooooo much practice, (even if its not really him,) could probably still do it.

  • @ellissapurser - Actually you can only do it if you have the right type of vocal chords, if you're not in the range you're gonna get nowhere trying...

  • @MarginalLiaison i'll admit thats true, but a lot of people would be surprised once they learn how to sing falsetto that they can sing that high. but your right that if your a bass or tenor its unlikely that you can sing that high

  • @ellissapurser - Hehe :) I can sing higher than this anyways, god knows what type I am though, I go from G3 to A#6 :s

  • This. song. is. God.

  • Jesus fucking Christ, that falsetto took me by surprise. More proof that any Muse song with falsetto is instantly unfathomably fantastic.

  • is there a violin in this?

  • where can i download this?

  • yeah !!

  • :D:D:D

  • Sounds like the background vocals at the end of Megalomania.

  • the falsetto was LOVEEEEEEEEE <3 and for the stupid asses saying that it's been pitch shifted fuck you, it's real! that's how Matt sings.

  • Doesn't sound like it's been messed around with to me. Pretty sure it's real

  • oh god that falsetto.... *jizz*

  • how i can download it ?

  • I love people who say Matt uses auto-tune to get his falsetto.

Watch live performances? Are you idiots daft?

  • @Niadivedct Auto-tune wouldn't do that anyway!

  • oh really? have you like, ever, heard this man sing?

  • ha. ha. what a joke. please don't make yourself sound more stupidly than you already sound.

  • Anyone who's seen them live knows that those notes are a walk in the park for Matt.

  • good analogy

  • im completely with barcydonia1, those vocals are pitch shifted up an octave, i agree he can sing ridiculously high, like in micro cuts, but his vocals there have a almost robotic timbre which sounds just like a pitch shifter, no way is it EQ or natural

  • @funfunfunfunfun1 He's sang higher before. Look up "Hey you crazy kids" and listen for the highest note, it's a semitone above this I believe.

  • @BCarey2293, I know. Earls Court and the Rock Am Ring have the best versions. Dead Star live at 2008's V fest is great

  • Category: Autos & Vehicles

    wat

    Loved this though.

  • Brilliant falsetto!

  • Why does the guitar fade in and out?

  • fading across different speakers, like when ur listening to it on headphones, you can hear some instruments theought one earphone, but not the other.

  • In the 5.1 version, you can hear the solo guitar turning around you.

  • God i love that falsetto

  • he should do that falsetto in live performances

  • FALSETTO!!!! YAAAYYY!!! :D

  • OMG sing goddamn you Chris

I hope someday they do what they've been hinting at and let Chris sing and have Matt focus on guitars, that would be a monster of a song.

  • Absolutely. They should make another 13-15 minute song in three parts, and I suggest that Chris sings in at least one of them, cause the man can really sing and make their music still sound Musey!

  • that would be SOOO cool! tho I do love matt's voice ^^

  • @elslobotissimo Look for some versions of "The Small Print" live. That made me decide that if Chris doesn't get his own song sometime, I'll kill Matt Bellamy.

  • @elslobotissimo watch the small print live at rock am ring 2004 he sings there :)

  • @elslobotissimo That would be heaven...

  • @elslobotissimo That'd be very awesome, although it would mean a partial loss of the typical Muse sound.

Would be an interesting turn of events nonetheless!

  • @elslobotissimo you say that but i have a recording of monitor playback att there saturday gig in wembley and chris's voice is really not nice man!!

give us a reply and i'll send you it!!

  • great falsetto and good backing vocals. didn't know chris did 2 layers.

  • FUUUUUUUCK!! hes got a stupidly lrge range!!!

  • holy fuck i never realised that falsetto towards the end till i heard this

  • Chris is doing the backing vocals on 2:38 right?

  • @VANGKLABU right.

  • falsetto made me JIZZ.

  • doctor who :)

  • I know... Isn't that the best? Someone should do a version of this with Daleks in it or something.

  • lol i didnt even realize he was singing like that towards the end, impossible to hear on the original

  • its actually very clear on the original. it takes good headphones though

  • Oh my god. That was amazing.

  • i could listen to this all day.

  • 4!O5 gasm gasm gasm gasm gasm!!!!!!

  • God!!! That falsetto sounded more awesome than i could imagine! :-D

  • holly sh!!t :O

  • Yo ya había notado el falseto, pero ha sido genial haberlo podido oir mejor ^^

  • OMG..AWESOME Falsetto! :D. Totally suprised me. After hearing the whole song again, I can hear it. You just have to listen very closely.

  • wooow complete re discovery of the song !! Amazing, thx for sharing :-))

  • Oh my goddddd, I LOVE that falsetto!!!!!!!!!

  • so you have any similar tracks from the DVD with the audio messed around? id love to hear them
