The song was written in Ireland around 1920. The melody is based on an old tune called Gilderoy (Scottish) or "Dives and Lazarus", with a different time signature.
Your effort is a good attempt, but the rhythm goes wrong, especially towards the end.

I can hear singing... I think that means this version is not an instrumental. I like it tho. Do you know what this song is called in Gaelic at all?
