Thank you for posting this! I am an intro 1 student and have an awesome instructor! You guys make it look so easy but I'm learning quickly that I need to visually see what is going on with the techniques as many times as possible. Our class is quite a handfull (well...okay...maybe I am) but I'm just trying to soak it all in. Keep posting as much as possible for us "baby Aveda's" !!!
I guess my verison of blended is different. I think the colorings of her hair made it look choppy.I love layered hair, but most of the cuts I see just look like a lawn mower went thru their hair. Does anyone not like thick looking ends anymore?
Wonderful, easy-to-see cuts with strong and precise instructions. BEST video on YouTube for layering and shaping .. long, short, medium, curly, straight hair. I've spend days trying to find a "cut your own hair into layers" video, this is it (even though he's the awesome stylist). Thank you!
Quality haircuts are about 80 bucks where I live so I've started to cut my own hair. I've gotten basic layers down but they still can look a little choppy.
That is the MOST blended hairstyle I have ever seen. It seems so many of these layered cuts have severe lines and just looks too choppy. Choppy does not equal texture as some unskilled hairstylists like to pass off. I have long hair to the middle of my back and would love some movement but have ended up with the choppy look or just plain layered without gradual layers that look outdated. Paying for a skilled stylist is actually not a guarantee at least in my area.
There are all basic skill, but so many secrest inside......( Alot of secrest that I never know get from my teacher...:WOW! Great job! and good sharing.Thank you.
Looks like her highlights were freshened up in the final shot. Early in the cutting you could see about 1 1/2 of new growth, at the end her top highlights were down to the scalp. Good job!!
Man that is the best , I came on here looking for a good vid and this is the first one I came on. Man I dont need to go anywhere else. The stylist has such a nice energy.
I've been a hair model. The last time was for a salon that switched over from Redkin to Paul Mitchell. They did a beatiful color job and cut that would have cost $150 for free. I loved it.
For a hair show stage models are usually paid (usually cheap newbie models). This looks like an in salon tutorial, and top salons get model agencies to send over unpaid models (once again models just starting out) that they demonstrate their latest collections to salon staff. Now most of the time it is just people in off the street.. the way it works is you pay a student stylist price (sometimes free) and the student does the cut and color and the instructor makes sure it is perfect.
The draw back is you dont get to pick your own haircut... and it takes a long time cuz the student is slow and then the instructor usually spends about a half hour correcting any mistakes, but on the plus side you end up with a $200 hair cut for almost nothing. Even though you dont get to chose the cut, they do pick one that will suit you, and will consult with you first so you have the option to leave) btw this is only at top salons with good apprenticeship programs. NOT BEAUTY SCHOOLS.
i hate when instuctors put students on the spot after asking questions, like at the 5:22 mark. just answer the question instead of asking her what the answer is..

when tutors do that it just seems to me like they are covering up the fact that they don't actually know the answer!
