@krbias33 Depends on how far you drive every day. Prius still reigns supreme for high mileage drivers like me in outside sales. I drive 40,000 miles a year and have 200 mile plus days every week. Chevy does not want anyone driving the volt over 100 miles per day on a regular basis. They say it just isn't designed for that.
12.5 miles?!?!? tht effing sucks!!! the fusion hybrid can get up to 40 miles an hour on electric and the chevy volt can get up to 40 miles which is also a plug-in hybrid. Toyota.... you suck
@yummy1234098 What sucks is the fact that the Volt only got an avg fuel economy of 32mpg over a three day 900 mile test drive. The new Prius averages in the mid 60's. For those people who drive nearly 800 miles a week as I do, the Prius still reigns supreme. My 2005 Prius has over 200K on it.
@JustAnotherJake7 I now have 230,000 miles on my Prius. Just did front brakes for first time. I just bought a 2007 Prius with 40,000 miles on it and will try to save my 05 for my son who will start driving next year. I have averaged 47 mpg overall driving my 2005 like a normal car. 70-75 on freeway. Prius is a pure business decision for me. I am not a green freak.
@mwkoman miles?? on a 2005? That's really difficult. And my mom requires front brakes on her Highlander every 6 months. That's crazy how many miles you have
@yummy1234098 yea the 12.5 miles is a joke....it makes no sense how some cars can do one thing well, another car does another thing well...i have no doubt that they already have and had the technology to make cars go hundreds of miles on electric alone or on gas and diesal....they just want to nickel and dime everyone as long as they can.
Toyota could easily extend the electric range to 30-40 miles....but then no one would use the gas engine and the parts would never need REPAIR! MONEY LOSS!
Please don't Japanese make design.
Anything else but for God's sake not design!

Is the Prius still using NiMh batteries? If it is, this isn't even worth looking at.
