I've been playing online for years with my ps3 wireless. I've never really had any connection issues and I usually play with full green bars connection on games like cod but I still seem to have ping issues at times, ie when I come face to face with an enemy for a shootout sort of thing and die when I watch the kill cam it appears he saw me before I even began to retaliat but thats now how it happened for me. Can going wired change this problem ?

i would need a 15 - 20mts ethernet cable cause even tough my internet connection can reach a speed of like 500kB/s of download and 700kbps of upload, the Ps3 connected wirelessly at an aproximate distance of 7 mts from the router reaches speeds of 300kbps download and 40kbps of upload which is pretty ridiculous i moved it like 20 inches closer to the router and it got me 800kbps-DL and 400kbps-UL and its still pathetic not even 1Mb of download,oh btw my pc can get max speed and its even farther

@MyThePooP Are you sure it's not the connection or PlayStation Network itself? I always use wireless and the only time I can't sign in is when PSN is down. You may want to make sure of your speed and hope no one's using your signal.

ive got wired connection and i share it with a computer and laptop. the ethernet cord is 10m long which takes it from the four-port router to the ps3 in the other room (through the wall) but the thing is when i try to play black ops or any other game it disconnects half way though the game. i can never connect for a whole match. any suggestions?

This is the most pointless thing ever, Wired you wont disconnect & you get the full download/upload speed, whereas wireless you don't get everything to the max, including connection stability. Nothing wrong with wireless though, except those times in the middle of the game where you sign out for no reason. Wired = Way better.

Wired is like having the signal strength at 105%, and much more stable. And honestly, that was one slow download connection! I have 25mbs and I can download up to 2 or 2.5MB per second on m PS3.

@freezemustang That's not true one bit, I get about 5-6 MB/s wired and I get the exact same with my belkin wireless N router, as long as you buy a quality router and are within range it shouldn't lose any or else very little.

wired is alot better that way you get everything from a plugged in connection rather than wireless, but same thing here i mostly get 4 bars only if someone is off my computer because if there is more things plugged into one router than it juices the heck out of it

you cant say wireless is exactly the same as wired when u havent weighed up all the options. my router is 8 walls away from my ps3 and i get max 35%, most of the time 10-15%. unplayable for lag. when u get wired u automatically get 100% all the time. sure have wireles if ur 3 foot from your router but anymore and you should go oldschool and wire it up :)

Yeah, but it depends on your router for range. Wireless is good for gaming. Wired is always a solid connection, but wireless is a good option. And my ps3 is not just 3 feet away, its about 40. So yeah

results are going to vary between person to person, wireless speeds are also determined by many environmental factors within the area and the type of house or place you live in. A person living in a 3 to four level house will have slower speeds then a person that lives in a 1 level floor house or a small apartment.
