i know that road its my fave in the south of scotland i live nr kilmarnock so down the a76, turn left after sanquar, grin for miles and miles, find the a7 and head north to edinburgh, then back along the a 71 to kilmarnock. try it its fookin awesome
@mylucaitalia know your not asking me but i live about 20miles from that road. it called the leadhills road by some and its stunnin. not fast but nice. better than anythi in italy (if that what italia means)
Are these bikes good for the commute to work ? Been offered a pre-reg very cheap and getting sick of throwing my 1200 sportster about every day. Thanks.
It would probably make a great commute bike .... its also a good all rounder and handles well in traffic and also great fun on country lanes and tracks...Even works well for touring.Cheap,cheerful,solid and Honda reliabilty gaurantees a pleasing bike and even one you can have some fun on. Google for reviews,most are pretty fair. Plus points :value for money,practicality,handling,solid build and reliable engine,good fun! minus points,looks,eats chains and rear tyres.
Sheep?! Try hitting a roo at 110 kph. His leather jacket didn't protect him (d-e-a-d) and mine didn't help much either: 16 stainless fittings in my right leg... . Great ride on a brilliant motorcycle (later model than mine... ) Paul (XLV750, XLV600, XRV750)
All Transalp owners - go to Fort William on early May Bank Holiday, for the start of the Scottish Six Day Trial, and use watching the trials riders as an excuse for a week of riding around the highlands along with hundreds of other bikers.
I go each year, and although I know a number of the trial riders, I really use it as an excuse to watch a couple of days of trialling, and the rest of my time is split between rides out on the Transalp, and kayaking. Perfect holiday.
The only thing I would change is the tyres. I don't like tubed tyres. And a lower seat would be nice..and shaft drive oh yes and ABS... whoops I've just described a doughville!!! seriously I love my TA to bits, just the way it is... happy riding mate
the TA was just MADE for roads like that. What year's yours, is that a clock and a PETROL GAUGE you are sporting there? - mines ( '97) lacks such refinements!!
It's the B797 from the A76 near Sanquhar to Wanlockhead and Leadhills in Scotland...and yes it is a really nice little run to the 'highest village in Scotland'
good video

Ah,relax... the Scottish sheep up here are pretty savvy and I have not killed myself yet in 35 years of biking {grin}

True what you say about Scottish sheep, they are very courteous, unlike Derbyshire sheep which are quite suicidal!

Yep its the 2004 model...Still pretty basic I guess compared to,say,the Varadero but the TA still has a lot of fans out there.
