  • That non-white dude is so damn smart.

  • Reza Alsan is a paid PR for the Mullahs from Iran...He is just either confused and really stupid...or both....In either case what bothers me is that he defend one of the most repressive religion in the world( Islam in this case) and happen to live in US , where he can enjoy freedom and democracy...in fact he won't last a day in Iran...Mullahs would like pretty boy like him and once the use him, the will finish him off...

  • neocons1345 , You do not know what you are talking baout. If you want to understand the true Islam, watch a movie called "The message", available on youtube.

  • That's cute. A nice little homoerotic fantasy for you to jack off over.

Reza Aslan has never defended tyranny of any kind. I challenge you to find a single quotation from him doing so. Religion is never the root of war or opression but merely the pretext for it. I don't like Islam but its powers to subjugate have been greatly exaggerated in your corporate media.

  • "Religion is never the root of war " - Crusades?

  • Wars of conquest disguised as holy war. The pope knew the teachings of Christ and never seriously entertained the idea that "God willed it". He just used that to mobilize the masses. Marx got it right when he said that religion is the opiate of the masses. It is used to dull men's senses so that they will be more easily duped by warlords but those warlords NEVER act out of love for God but for hope of treasure, power and/or prestige.

Again, not a root but a pretext.

  • It clearly was a War of Conquest to retake the Holy Land and to defend the Byzantine Empire from Muslim Expansion. I am not sure how that was ever disguised.

Their actions were also justifiable when quoting the passages of Murder in the Old Testament, which is what the Pope did.

Also, your last point regarding the Warlords is clearly false. Plenty of them of were clearly religious and returned home after the Crusades.

  • It was disguised as being for the glory of God. Many of the crusaders were religious but the reason why they returned home may have more to do with their inability to hold on to their conquests in the East than a lack of greed for war-spoils. And if their piety were the motive and not greed then why did the Fourth crusade sack Constantinople?

Yes, the Pope used Biblical passages to justify the crusades. That's what I said. Those passages were a PRETEXT for war, not the MOTIVE for it.

  • I was referring to the original Crusades, circa 1096. Most of the notable leaders were pious and went on the Crusades at considerable expense to themselves.

No, you said that the Pope could never entertain the idea that "God willed it". In fact, he could using the Old Testament.

Neither were the Biblical passages said to be the motives.

The Pope clearly lays out his motives. IE defense of Christian Byzantine against an invading Muslim force and etc.

  • The Pope could not have used a passage from the teachings of Christ. It is a common ruse by despots within the Christian church to turn to the Old Testament for their rhetoric, thereby eschewing that annoying little saviour and the freedom inherent in his teachings.

And those "notable leaders" you speak of were dupes themselves. I said that wars for fought not for religion but for "hope of treasure, power and/or prestige". In their case prestige/glory.

  • It is a common ruse since it is a justifiable ruse. It was God that ordered the Genocide of the Amalakites and murder of non believers. Therefore, it can be used in that fashion.

No, most of the notable leaders were not dupes. They fought for religion not for treasure.

Such a suggestion, doesn't even make sense since most didn't gain any treasure or power and came back to Europe despite the annihilation of the Muslims.

  • many of the basic tenants of capitalism were proven wrong decades ago, yet it is still held as an ideal to be followed and defended by it's believers. The value of fiat currency is no more real than the faith in that currency. These facts are well known by the highest "priests" in the land (economists; some of whom have been awarded the Nobel for ideas and theories now discredited!!)

To a lucid mind, these are religious phenomena. (it's defenders certainly act like religious zealots)

  • yeh rite!

do you belive in global criminal conspiracy, with all kinds of one eyed pyramids, secret societies and those fantasy holiwood stile metrixes?is this realistic?

is global jihad and the milions screaming death to the big and small satans, a myth?

and btw no one refered to it as a war between religions.its the war of A religion-islam. i mean who gives a sh.....what muslims belive anyway?

i agree one one thin. its very very daingures path of Ignorance—Ignoring we are on rite now.

  • He is brilliant !!!!!!!!

  • Reza Aslan is a strange one, certainly smart in some ways but clueless about large areas of discourse.

  • thanks for the upload!!!!!!!!!!!
