@zombiehammer1 no the spelling has nothing to do with it. Germanic sounding names are weird. I guess I have been pronouncing my own last name wrong this whole time!

@limbdarkening I see, I actually asked a Swiss friend many years ago how she pronounced the name and she set me straight. I don't know German enough though to comment on the spellings and pronunciation, I stand corrected if this be the case!

Thank you Dan! For the longest of times, I've had to put up with ugly/blank stares when I rhymed the name with "eager". I remember reading about this pronounciation from the Alien documentart book. But no matter what, ppl thought I was stupid. I even spent a good 15 minutes with my 3D instructor debating over this. He claimed it was Geiger because he 'met' the artist. Pft. Whatever. i'm faving this. Now I got proof AND the last laugh:

i have Giger's alien tattoo on my leg, yet for sometime i used to say, "G-eye-ger" instead of "G-ee-ger"...i only found out the correct pronunciation by watching the commentary on the Alien movies!
