As a medical student, I can assure you that nobody really looks into the peer-reviewed literature for evidence. Rather, they resort to meaningless analogies to try and downgrade the danger of drugs.
They do good in reporting the news, but then turn right around and try to imply as much as they can that drugs are bad, taboo and "woooooo", scary, without saying so overtly, but with beat-around the bush phrasing, interviewees chosen and overall images used.
"all known as pretty dangerous drugs". ok, so define 'dangerous'. shall we say 'dangerous' means "seriously harms a large portion of the people who use the substance"? none of these are actually very dangerous then.

@Winst0ned it numbs your receptors if that is what you mean but that cures its self over a very short period of time 2 days MAX by which time your "MDMA hangover" ends and you feel normal again because your receptors begin receiving signals again.
This is deplorable reporting. They are misinformed and rely on the opinions of naive clubbers who know bugger all. The anti drug lobby is full of moral panic that prevents it from seeing any sense. the problem is the government is affraid of legalising drugs as they think they will lose votes from the small minded people who are stupid enough to read right wing tabloid papers.
Wow, those clubbers are so clever, interviewing them really helps the credibility of the governments argument, I'm sure they know much more than any scientist. I used to agree with Professor Nutt, but that was before I heard any teenage clubbers interviewed, the opinion of some kid who knows of someone who does drugs is far better than scientific evidence.

Making sweeping statements about very complex and powerful chemicals is a pretty harmful thing to do. Ok, it's common knowledge that alcohol does far more physical damage than many illicit drugs. Psychedelics have very little potential for addiction and cannabis and lsd are virtually non-toxic. That, however, doesn't mean that they are not dangerous.
They can and do cause psychosis. I know several people who have gone on to develop chronic mental health problems as a result of their use.
These clubbers don't seem to have any clue about neruobiology and neuropharmacology. It's sad to see that the drug laws are not based on facts but on prejudice and fear.
Lol, alcohol is used to sterilize work benches in laboratories. Now, one can imagine, what i does to the human body if ingested. Therefore, it's true that alcohol is more harmful than MDMA, LSD and cannabis. In terms of pure cytotoxicity, I would rank it even higher than heroin and cocaine!
David Nutt is an intellegent man who bases his opinions on scientifc fact and not silly government scare tactics , also the clubber in this interveiw clearly have no idea what they are talking about , as they are going out and drinking large amounts of alcohol simply because it is a "socially acceptable" drug
