Im building a log splitter and the blade needs to have about a 45 degree blade angle on 1 inch steel. Whats the best way to approach this with an acetylene torch, and what's the best way to weld 1.5 inch steel onto an I-beam?
I'm in the UK, I bought a 256 a while ago, I had to hound them via sales line as they would not get back to me about delivery. After lots of false promises it took nearly 2 months.
As a noob to welding, I tried to join the forum, off hand they barred me. They must have been frightened about what I would say? Not happy! says ipaddress banned by administrator!
How has your machine performed since? Is it reliable? I'm considering doin vid if others experienced same?

Funny you should post this now - I was *just* downstairs using my Everlast 3-in-1 (the straight DC machine) plasma cutter to knock out some 1/4" plate for a bracket!
@gunmaster45 I was thinking the same question. There are alot of non weldable metals. Not trying to be a smart ass but I am. Some elements are metals and liquid at room temperature ( Mercury, Cesium around 100 degrees ) I dont want to name them all from the periodic table, so I think the point is if an alloy of a metal is a non weldable type, this machine is not gonna weld it. Did you get a 256?
I got a 250ex i got the 256 at first but i felt that the 250ex would b a better fit i was right its a hoss i love it i got a couple of videos with it. im doin alot of cast aluminum repair jobs nowadays.
@gunmaster45 I have the hobart 165i. It has limitations big time. I got the manual pedal pulse down pat thou. I gotta get something bigger and better 250ex or 256. I really think the plasma cutter is gonna be useful for me. How long have you had the unit? Ill check out the vids also.

Is that a drag tip like on the Hypertherm? I like the petite drag tip on the HT 1000 for use along a straight edge.
Also, are all the consumables for this machine readily available and on par with other common machines price wise??

Nice, that machine looks pretty damn sweet. do you have it hooked up so it's easy to go from tig to plasma?

@freddytk421
going from tig to plasma cutting takes about 2 minutes.

i was on the everlast site and it said that the 256 would weld virtually all metals what would it not be capable of welding?
