is it because i have a laptop that I cant record any audio? i've tried audacity too and when i recorded and had the song playing (and it came sound) audacity just wouldn't record it and here in goldwave, when i go to options -> controll properties -> volume I can only chose to record from "Microphone (Conexant CX20582 Sm" I have no idea why it does that, help please?

Blah, just do a google search "Free Sound Recorder" it should pop right up. You can record with it as long as you want, though you only have 30 days for the 2nd part of the program. It just allows you to edit the audio if you want to. I recommend leaving the sound of your volume on your pc half way if you want the sound to be crystal clean. Trust me, I've been using this program for over 3 years now. If you guys have questions...you know how to reach me. ;) Happy recording.

dont bother downloading anything you can do this with windows movie maker. only difference is it will be .wma file. but the file size is smaller this way. and you can get a converter to change it to mp3

I used to be able to do this with Hi-Q Recorder, but suddenly it stopped working. I only have Sigmatel as well. Damn Windows, you don't work like computers should. Boasting what's standard on a Mac and changing your configurations on a dime. YOU SUCK.

@appleSEEDed he may still have sound that he can hear himself but the program can not find his audio card or he has a mix audio card which combines the mic and audio such as the ones in many laptops in which case almost no program can get the sound off the desktop
