i like this video particularly because of how it seems somewhat comical at the start with the running across the camera i liked that and the music is good too.
Hi JAO, I use your videos a lot with all my kids. There's something I can't fix no matter what I try. One of my level 4 can't vault because she keeps trying to dive into the HS. She leaves the board with her shoulders closed and head first. She can do all the break downs pretty good, but when you put it all together she goes back to diving. Any advice one what to try?? Thank you.
@mariginastica I have one that does this too. I've been trying to have her spot something on the wall behind the vault when she's running and hitting the board. As a general rule your hands go where your eyes go. It takes away that pike up to crazy arch thing that tries to resemble a handspring.
Do you purposely teach an exagerated head "in" (not looking at hands) AS THEY CONTACT THE TABLE, as seen in "Bounce to HS" (1:30) or is it head "in" the moment AFTER THEY CONTACT THE TABLE (prep for post flight ..and open shoulders)?
@DanCanAsian The head should be neutral throughout. You can see in some of the examples the girls are straight and some they duck it in. Ducking in is an over-correction to avoid being arched/head sticking out. (This falls into the "I can't do a thousand takes to get everything perfect" category.) Right now we're focusing more on being straight in the body, the head will get neutral in time as they get more comfortable bouncing upside down and straight. Thanks.
