@kindbudkudos -The two you see here are custom. Mine, the burgundy Range Rover, has about $500+ in it. I have others with as little as $250 invested. Best, if you want to get into it, is to start with one of the Axial SCX-10 products. Best bang for your buck.
@aaronjl07 -Thanks. The body came off a toy grade rc made by New Bright. It's discontinued but sometimes comes up for sale on ebay. They are still available in Europe (particularly on ebay.co.uk). It's something like "Range Rover Sport X-11" or some such. Was about $45. The rest underneath is old school crawler stuff-stampede trans, TLT-1 axles, Integy motor, etc.
@aaronjl07 -The body is discontinued. Once in a while one comes up on ebay. They are still available in Europe (check ebay.co.uk for range rover x-11). Its a 1:10 scale toy rc made by New Bright. The running gear and chassis is all custom.
You'd have to source the body, and also buy something like an Axial SCX-10 TR (ready to run rc). Probably set you back something like $300-$350.
Awwwwww. I was hoping this was real and that someone had finally got the balls to deck out a RR properly. Still, its a cool video and the RR looks great......good job.
@2bornottoby -Thanks. Indeed the RR does have independent suspension on all 4 corners, unless the owner has done a SAS to front and rear, swapping in solid axles, lol...could happen. Maybe, lol.
The body was pulled from a 1:10 scale toy rc made by Newbright, used to be available at Target and such stores. Now discontinued in USA but still available in UK and Europe (amazon). Chassis is custom: $85 for basic chassis, $100 for TLT-1 axles, $35 for Stampede transmission, $20 for integy 55t motor, $100 for electronic speed control (ESC). That's the basics then there are lots of other smaller things like tires, wheels, driveshafts, lights, scale accessories, etc.
Absolutely LOVE this video, Im picking a up a Nylint Crawler for 30 bucks soon... I drove it before. Loved it. I'll use it for winter trail runs, and maybe some mudding ;) and crawling of course!
Thanks. 2+ years later (and 5 or so rigs later, lol) and this is still my favorite of the bunch. Has gotten a good beating too. You can see it in more recent videos of mine.
Search YT for these videos to see the Rover Sport in the most recent videos: MGCiPiqsjA4 and hltUcIMNpP0
Cool! By the way, can you recommend some cheap, decent shocks, the owner says he is missing the two rears... I just need something to hold me off till I can get my hands on the good stuff!
yeahracing shocks are inexpensive. you can also get TLT-1 shocks cheap used. depends on the length you need. I use e-racing 70 (75?)mm shocks on most of my rigs. About $25 shipped for 4. short so there's not much articulation (the rover had TLT-1's in this video, longer and more articulation). I've gone away from more articulation. Thats why you see me 3 wheeling a lot...
sometimes you can get pairs, rarely just one but usually a set of 4. You need to know what the stock shock length is and get replacements accordingly. yeahracing has shocks from 50mm to 120+mm lengths in 10mm increments.
dude, i saw the picture and thought it was real, and at 2:06, the range looks like its loosen energy, and if it was real, and i wuz in them wen it rolled, i would have been scared like hell, but the video wuz awsome, i give it a 10.
Lol, thanks a lot 296jayce! I appreciate it. Actually I was just creeping up the climb very slowly making sure the tires kept gripping. No way anyone would 'wheel a 1:1 like I wheel this 1:10 version, lol.
The Ranger Rover Sport might not be as good as the 'proper' Range Rover or the Disco or the classic Defender, but it's still better than many so-called 4x4s.
Thanks 44magnu,2146. I do try to film them so they look as real as possible. Agreed, unlikely to see a Rover on its side, lol. Or really off roading for that matter, lol.
@attpureownpk thanks! Love how many people this tricks. I was using low res video clips back then and now the clips are better quality. I can't believe I did this almost 2 years ago! That Rover has taken a beating but is still going strong, lol.
Because I am working with what is available. At the time the Range Rover was not available, only the Sport. Now it is, but its too small to use. I do have a Classic now, as well as an LR3. No other viable bodies are available.
I saw this vid some time back and thought it was really cool. Just got a wheely king 1 week ago and already climbing it up. Thanks for showing me another expensive hobby.
A few hundred dollars at least if you're just getting into rc is what you'd spend at a minimum. You could buy a kit, so most of the rolling chassis is done already, such as Axial's scx10, then buy a cheap toy grade rc for just the body (thats where most of these come from, including my rovers). Then there are a few other bits you'd need (radio, batt charger, etc).
You really aren't very bright, are you? If you look at the comment I deleted and compare it to the one I POSTED you'll see the only difference is the misspelled word "yoru". I deleted it and reposted it correctly spelled.
You'd have to make one. This one is all custom. Uses TLT-1 axles and shocks (by Tamiya), one-off chassis and wheels, body from a New Bright toy, etc. check out scale4x4rcDOTorg for info on these types of rc scale trucks.
They are pretty torquey motors - what windings are you running? How long till it's flat? :-) And did the 'cops' ever manage to catch you in the RR? RR's
They are very custom built. To put one together you'd be into the parts for about $450 or so. Some kits start at that price and still need lots of mods. SCX-10 starts around $240 but when you're done with the extra bits you need to run it you're still around $450.
nothing here. I shot this in low res though. I've since started shooting hi res stuff (see later videos). Also, now the rover is beat to he!!, lol. Have a second one (charcoal color) now.
Also, the hummer is now the blue f150 in my later video and is for sale. price is negotiable.
For 100 000 km my V6 TD engine was 5 time repaired, so each time It was in service garage min 7 days, infact my RRS spent more time servicing than sreving me. I ll never ever buy any of this producer, and IMPORTER do not take care at all, so after sale there is a zero support REALY BIG DISAPOINTING. This is a situation in Macedonia
it can very quite a bit since they're mostly custom.
However, you can start with an Axial SCX-10, add electronics and a hard body and be into it for $350 minimum. Some of these are well over $600. I'm building one right now for charity thats got about that much in parts alone without counting my hours and hours of custom bodywork and chassis fabrication.
Excellent realism & terrific camera angles ... maybe add some battle wounds on the rocker panels.. every true crawler gets dents and scratches on their rig:]
thanks ACDC92708! Well, this was the maiden voyage of the range rover sport. Now it is beat pretty good. scratched and cracked all over, yet still runs great and is still my favorite of the 6 or so I've had and 4 I still have.
thanks serocell. these are 1/10 scale (so they're about 17" overall length). they vary on brand. the hummer is Axial ax10 with the addition of a scale chassis (Xtrail). the range rover is all custom.
yer thats true :). but when i first seen the vid i thought it was real....but i found out coz the hummer it wasnt. still thought. fantastic video...u got any other vids like that?
I work hard to shoot it so it looks as real as possible.
I have loads of videos like this. check out my channel/profile by clicking on my name. that will bring up the 80 +/- videos I have done in the last year and a bit. Some are better than others...some are just me, some just a few of us like this one, some are large gatherings of 15-30 guys/trucks.
my suggestion to the author, slow the vid down to 3/4 speed or so, it will give it a larger look... the first clip, i thought it was real, but the vid had been sped up, on the second clip, it was the audio that gave it away, you have a music background, cut the recorded audio
thanks for the suggestions-all good. the video clips are all at actual speed, neither sped up or slowed down. I'll play around with slowing it down though, thanks.

scale radio control trucks. Better quality than the toy radio control trucks you'll find in the stores.

love that song and love your cars.what scale and wich brand they are .crawl rocks!;))
serocell 2 years ago
thanks serocell. these are 1/10 scale (so they're about 17" overall length). they vary on brand. the hummer is Axial ax10 with the addition of a scale chassis (Xtrail). the range rover is all custom.

yer thats true :). but when i first seen the vid i thought it was real....but i found out coz the hummer it wasnt. still thought. fantastic video...u got any other vids like that?
wolfracekid 2 years ago
I work hard to shoot it so it looks as real as possible.
I have loads of videos like this. check out my channel/profile by clicking on my name. that will bring up the 80 +/- videos I have done in the last year and a bit. Some are better than others...some are just me, some just a few of us like this one, some are large gatherings of 15-30 guys/trucks.

my suggestion to the author, slow the vid down to 3/4 speed or so, it will give it a larger look... the first clip, i thought it was real, but the vid had been sped up, on the second clip, it was the audio that gave it away, you have a music background, cut the recorded audio
realweezl 2 years ago
thanks for the suggestions-all good. the video clips are all at actual speed, neither sped up or slowed down. I'll play around with slowing it down though, thanks.
