The budget was so low, the cast and crew had to bring their own lunches. The y couldn't afford a caterer. As any could have noticed, the costumer department was strapped for cash. Alot of the same clothes were worn throughout the series. If it were being done today, I think the monet would flow a little more freely.
Although I liked this series very much, I think it suffers from one BIG flaw. No other character or creature from ancient Egyptian history or mythology ever appeared throughout the entire series. All we ever had was Isis herself. WHY? Why not sometimes bring in, say, Osiris, Horus, Seth or Amon Ra? Think of what fascinating episodes could be produced. Maybe Osiris or Horus could sometimes join Isis in some special scenario. Seth could be to Isis what the Joker was to Batman. Ah, well...
I never asked for a reunion. Isis is a character from ancient Egyptian mythology so it's only reasonable and natural for at least a couple other characters from Egyptian mythology to appear at least a couple times in this series. A Hercules TV series in which nobody else from Greek mythology ever shows up would be just wrong, don't you think? And I don't see how much more it can cost either to have someone dressed up as Seth or Horus to appear in the show.
As syouyun pointed out, this show was VERY low budget and intended for younger viewers. The producers were working with a very limited amount and often referred to unseen characters off-screen because they couldn't afford additional actors. Take it for it was worth at the time, a kids show for its age/era and it now has a second life in DVD release. Could something be done as a major motion picture, sure, but no one has done it yet (Please, no comic book adaptions, how about some real history)
To give you an idea of how small the budget was, they hired an actor who owned his own gorilla suit so they wouldn't have to pay for the suit. The suit was probably worth more than the actor got for his time.
How much could an imitation of an ancient Egyptian outfit cost? We don't need to be authentic to the point of using real gold and lapis lazuli to make the outfit, do we? And if they could afford the Capt Marvel suit, I won't believe that they couldn't afford what I suggested. Just make such an outfit, let the gentleman acting as Capt Marvel wear it instead, and he can be Osiris or Horus already.
I remember this vaguely from my early childhood when my family spent a year in Canada. It was good to see it again. I wonder if they will do a remake of the show?
The secret is her white outfit. How many superheroes wear white? Women who wear white pants are hot and white summer dresses look cool. Joanna's looks would still be attractive by today's standards unlike models from the fifties and sixties.
Dude,I agree Joanna Cameron was beautiful and attractive in my childhood days on channel 2 CBS. Don't forget Linda Carter aka Wonder Woman/Diana Prince too. They were a brick hooooouse!
I think she is in marketing for 2 major hotels from what I read. You can find out more about her at Wikipedia....There a couple of links including a text interview from 4 years ago.
Mowac,I want to thank for your responses, guy. You are very good musician and I wish you the very best in your goals and I hope they come to pass, dude.
I loved this show as a kid! I used to stand in the backyard and recite her transformation/flying spell. Alas, I never did turn into Isis or fly on zephyr winds.
There was an Isis comic series done by DC which started in October 1976 and ended January 1979. A much more recent Isis comic series published by Image Comics and Bluewater bears as little resemblance to what we find in the Filmation TV series as Kevin Sorbo's Hercules to Steve Reeves' Hercules.

They could have taken out Capt Marvel and put someone like Horus or Osiris in his place.

LOL. I don't quite agree with this (really, I don't have much of an opinion on it) but the 'it isn't a reunion' sorta kinda totally cracked me up.

Was the character owned by the DC comics company? Just wondering cause recently I saw her in comic books.

DC licensed to do a series, but It ended at about 6 with 2 Captain Marvel crossovers.

It was mainly her legs, short skirt, and boots that kept me watchin' it! Hot !
judges77 4 years ago
Does Isis get Ko'ed in any of the episodes? And there HAS to be some good up-skirt shots, right?
Sorry, but I'm just a good old superheroine peril fan ;-)

This was one of my favorites in the 70s. Why does the media never talk about JoAnna Cameron. I liked her and this show much better than Wonder Woman.
