does anyone know the cause of this problem? ive fortun8ly have what seems to be the only HP DV6000 laptop thats worked 2 years without fault and suddenly yday this exact thing happened. Luckily its under 3 year extended warrenty.. anyone know the cause?
Happens to my DV9700 as well. I fucking HATE HP. I'm part of the class action lawsuit. I've filed complains with the BBB, FTC and others. I'm requesting a full refund for this pos laptop. I spent $1400. The Nvidia 8600m is the cause and others. I've talked to HP tech support, cust serv, case managers and consumer relations. ALL refuse to admit the issue. HP even acknowledges the issue on their website!!!

Normal mode does not work at all. I gave it to fix to a prof. He tried to reinstall the Windows, changed bios, tested it in NFSI, .... . now the screen says "replace hardrive" ! What to do? And if the same shit will follow? I cannot contact Hp I bought it in the US Im from Hungary!
Learn one think: NEVER BUY HP AGAIN! I make this post in a moment that the HP canoot help-me! My notebook go back to HP two times to fix and know the left bracket that hold the monitor break! I have the same problem I press the power button down hold it for about 10 sec then press the power back on and start pressing F10 or esc button to power it back on I called hp and it is a bios tec problem and they won't fix it unless you have warranty .(and i'm still trying to get it fixed I NEVER BUY A HP AGAIN as soon as i fix it im selling it and getting a sony or toshiba there tec help me out more than the hp customer service
My notebook dv9010 did the same thing it shows a black screen, only lights come on. I dont have a warranty! (2006). I dont think ill be buying an HP agian.

i had a problem with my backlight and my product activation key... lets just say if you don't back it up before you send it you will loose absolutely everything. *tear*
Have the same problem, think I figured it out. The AMD cpu will not allow the computer to boot without the cooling fan running, if I leave it on long enough the fan cuts on and the thing boots. Shortly the fan cuts off again and the CPU heats up. The CPU temp gets up to 75c, using a hair dryer set to cool and blowing into the vent, it drops to 25c. I've ordered HP Part 431448-001 to replace the fan. Will post mu results in a week or two when I change it out.
I have TWO HP tx2508s, and both of them broke down and behaved exactly as yours. I had upgraded their hard drives and after trying everything else decided to remove and reinstall them - carefully to ensure they are completely inserted, and the clasp is in the right place. Yahoo..it worked (on both of them) and I wanted to make sure I let others know to try it. My daughter had a full course of university work due so I understand how stressful this can be. Good luck.

None of those options worked. Mine had a recall done on it a while ago but they never contacted me. It has a motherboard problem so im getting it shipped back to HP! Its retarded cause they have to wipe my memory clean!

My notebook did the same thing, lights on but no one was home, sent it away to HP they fixed it, apparently alot of the HP pavilion notebooks series had malfuntions with the grapics cards and motherboards and even though mine was out of warranty they are still fixing and shipping for free.
Same here. Hp isn't real strict with their warranties at all. And they make really good computers for a very low price. WAYYYY better than dell and some of the macs

Same thing happened to me. Watch agotta do it is while the PC is turned on take out the battery and let sit for 5 mins then take otu the power chord and put the battery back in boot it up and put the power chord back in.

Dude, your Nvidia northbridge ship just under the wirelesscard. You can access it by removing the cover over the ram. It overheats. HP will repair this issue for free. However its short lived. I have had mine repaired twice. New motherboard lasts about that long each time.
Man, for my laptop, i need to send to the EUA and they fix the problems. They changed many defects pices of laptop including the Screen. Today, my DV9000t have 4Gb, 500Gb of Disk and it is my Server. Today, i use a MacBook, oh yeah.. it is a real Laptop, use and you will see! Bye

same thing happend to me because i was on my sisters laptop the (dv9000) and i went on it one day and screen somehow got fucked up it wouldent work the way to fix it is to open the screen and clean it.
i really hope you have't returned it yet because mine did the exact same thing. Take out both hard drives, and make sure that you firmly put them back in...fire it up and it should work like new.
Try removing the battery and unplugging the laptop for about 20 minutes, then without putting the battery back, plug it back in and try booting it up again. Make sure there are no disks in the CD drive, anything plugged into the USB ports, and make sure there is no memory card in the memory card reader.
It happend to me last year. Luckly i saved my most valuable data on the second hard drive so i was not at a total loss. I replaced the failed hard drive with a Western Digital Scorpio 160 gb hard drive. i now remember what the actual cause was, i had a couple of magnets in my pocket.....

Nesse caso não sei como te ajudar, o DV6000 tem manutenção pela HP Brasil sem problemas. Se tiver nota fiscal e tiver na garantia vão te atender blz, porém se não tiver a nota fiscal ou não tiver na garantia, você vai ter que pagar a HP pela manutenção ou qq outra empresa, eu te recomendaria a própria HP, pois se quebrar denovo, terá a garantia deles. I had the same Problem with my HP laptop, I turned it on, power lights went on, but know hard drive activity. had to send it in to HPm waited 4 months!! they called me and sent me an upgrade. my dv6000 special edition once made a clicking noice then it froze up and i restarted it then it said at the boot menu that it could not detect a operating system...so i popped in my personal own edition of windwos vista hoem premium adn i just bsaid no to all the installation becaus ei didn want to go through that again and i restarted it then it work agian!
My notebook was repaired and the HP change 3 parts of the notebook. The HP send my notebook by Fedex, then, when arrive i will say what's the parts that the HP change. Tippey786, i do the same thing, but don't work boy :] Thanks for all! Go to the next step!
The Notebook power on but the screen still black. Sometimes boot ok, but its not occour always. Sometimes they appear Blue Screen with the error of IRQ Less. Sometimes they do nothing, just Black screen and the error message PCI BUS Error on PCI/BUS/DEVICE/0000h. I already talk with the HP that tell to me that the error is hardware. The notebook was sent to the HP by Mail-In-Repair and i'm waiting the report of HP about the error. Afte it, i will post the complete report here.
hey i recomend that you take out the battery let it cool down for a cuople of minutes and put it back in then it will automactically shock itself in a good way so the problem goes away.
im pretty sure my dv6000 had that same problem i called up Hp and they told me to do a few things they told me to switch the ram around then to take out the battery and power supply hold the power button down for 40 seconds 3 times then it worked

My client's dv2000 does the same thing with no video & all power to the system, even the dvd/rw drive & usb ports.
Only beeps low sounds 2 times but no loud beeps like the 3 loud beeps from a youtube video posted here.

Having problems performing a Bio's crisis recovery procedure using an external floppy drive.
Have the material to perform it but can't figure out the procedure right.
May also be the lid switch under the F8 key stuck closed.or came unplugged perhaps

dude it's hard to get support Through HP.. i had to call to a call center in INDIA and then they send me a wrong part!
then i finnally talked to Some main ppl in the US and they fixed my laptop within 1 wk..
i sent it in they replaced my mobo and yeah..
but i would soooo send it in to HP.

I had the same Problem with my HP laptop, I turned it on, power lights went on, but know hard drive activity. had to send it in to HPm waited 4 months!! they called me and sent me an upgrade. A dv9500t. i guess the lossed it? o well, i wish the best for you, hope it gets fixed. i dont think ill be buying an HP next time though.

my dv6000 special edition once made a clicking noice then it froze up and i restarted it then it said at the boot menu that it could not detect a operating system...so i popped in my personal own edition of windwos vista hoem premium adn i just bsaid no to all the installation becaus ei didn want to go through that again and i restarted it then it work agian!

My notebook was repaired and the HP change 3 parts of the notebook. The HP send my notebook by Fedex, then, when arrive i will say what's the parts that the HP change. Tippey786, i do the same thing, but don't work boy :] Thanks for all! Go to the next step!

You said that sometimes it boots ok, then thats the chance to reformat your notebook by using your recovery cd's.
Or maybe is your HDD, go buy a new HDD.

The Notebook power on but the screen still black. Sometimes boot ok, but its not occour always. Sometimes they appear Blue Screen with the error of IRQ Less. Sometimes they do nothing, just Black screen and the error message PCI BUS Error on PCI/BUS/DEVICE/0000h. I already talk with the HP that tell to me that the error is hardware. The notebook was sent to the HP by Mail-In-Repair and i'm waiting the report of HP about the error. Afte it, i will post the complete report here.

hey i recomend that you take out the battery let it cool down for a cuople of minutes and put it back in then it will automactically shock itself in a good way so the problem goes away.

I Had out the battery and using just the AC/DC Power Suply and the problem still persist. :( What i do now?

im pretty sure my dv6000 had that same problem i called up Hp and they told me to do a few things they told me to switch the ram around then to take out the battery and power supply hold the power button down for 40 seconds 3 times then it worked
