  • Galileo was an astronomer...

  • good thing he wasnt using an anal thermometer at the end

  • So...is that a rectal thermometer or something.

  • owww fuc* DO NOT DRINK?

  • add a straw and its a thermo bong

  • @TheRealCP13 hahaha if you are one those retards who would do that oh man! u need some help XD

  • WARNING: Do not drink this liquid. Ok?... Why would I drink it, it contains rubbing alcohol.

  • hope this video will help me in my GS test too

  • cool

  • I'll tell u if this video help in my GS test....

  • @claudiachan201 hey i have a GS test too

  • Isn't that a rectal temomater

  • umm, I don't think the measurements go exactly like at outdoor. I mean .. if the temperature changes for 4,5 degres, the alcohol would go up only a milimetar or so..

  • o shit pause the vedio and then presss the let side and down arrows and the same time and you be playing that snake game so cool

  • i wast going to drink they liquid but then i heard im say notoo and i said there wus no way

  • @menace450 Shut up you arrogant fool

  • People are going to go home, make this and realize there is no measurements and you are only measuring the cold/hot water you put the bottle in..

  • You know what is Hot?!!

Your mother, thats the only thing thats Hot this doesn't work!!!!!

  • Yeah I was thinking the same thing

  • Oh noes, i drunk the liquid... :o

  • awesome man great but how do you say like what is 34 degrees F and what is 81 degrees F?

  • great...

  • uhhhhmmmmm i think it comes from a greek word not from a latin ones...?

    (omg)

  • que bueno la verdad :-)

  • que bueno la verdad :-)

  • Thermo and meter are both Greek words mate.

  • Howcast > Viewdo

  • do what he says! DRINK IT!

  • i wish he told me to not drink it earlier :(

  • This is BRILLIANT! So now when i'm stranded on an island and want to know how hot it is, i can just simple bring out my modeling clay, rubbing alcohol, straw, and food coloring witch i carry everywhere i go!

  • @maddog937 If you're stranded on an island, I'd imagine you would have more important things to do than find out what the temperature is.

  • why not just use only achohol

  • @funtimeswithflames

because then the freezing point would be to slow and the heating point too fast

  • The expansion of the air in the bottle is far greater than the expansion of the liquid and is why it works in this thermometer.

  • WARNING:

    DO NOT DRINK THIS LIQUID

    hahahahahahahahahahahaha we are not stupid

  • my science teacher allways say "its not cold its heatless"

  • some times i just know things

  • 899Hi@ pathetic

  • Your Cool!!

  • Make a video: How to delete your head. no srsly I hate you -0-

  • Θερμόμετρο - this is greek???

  • yes it's greek. and as a word its also made from 2 other Greek words as well. θερμό (thermo) meaning "warm" and meter, "to measure"...

  • @PoGingJD yea this is greek but you are not

and how can you know it?cause i am

  • @PoGingJD yes;)

  • @PoGingJD yes it is Greek, this guy on the video tries to tell us its from latin... my god >_<

  • @PoGingJD έλα μωρή τρέλα!

  • @PoGingJD yes it is..

  • @PoGingJD yes it is you pronounce is thermometro witch probably means termometer...

  • Thermometer is coming from greek words, not latin. Θερμόμετρο.

    Nice experipent!!

  • so why is it when im full of alhoole di i net feeeol an ting?

  • how to you know how many degees it is?

  • You will know just if its cold and hot but not exactly how cold or hot. So this one FAILED. :)

  • Comment removed

  • you just put it in cooking water, make the mark 100°C (or whatever). then you wait till it drops to the exact half of that. it should be 50°C. then you wait till it drops to the middle of this, youll have 25°C. and so on till you have all the marks. (you could also use math do calculate of much cm per °C you have to use between 100°C and 0°C.)

  • Eh how do you it will be exactly 100c?

  • @Cridant1 its cooking at exactly 100c.

  • But normal people with out fancy stuff :P people with an oven and a hob :P

  • @Cridant1 just keep heating it up until the water has been "bubbling" for one or two minutes.^^

  • cahnces are though its more than 100c :Palso it depends what you are boiling it in :P

  • @Cridant1 everything above 100c becomes steam and goes out of the water so i highly doubt that its possible the water is above 100c, unless you apply pressure to the water and the air cant escape, then you could reach more than 100c. but if you cook it in open water, it should be 100c^^

  • so now what you gotta do is calibrate it and mark the straw

  • you can make a barometer if you do the same thing but use a plastic bottle, we did that in 5th grade science.

  • you stupied?

  • lol, ur da stupid one..

u dont even know how to spell "stupid".

  • LOL!

  • dam tahts a gud comebak. luv it man

  • lol that good

  • why dos it exbend in the straw but not in the bottle ? (sorry bad english)

  • Its Ok!

    Don't feel bad!

  • cause the straw is not sealed :D

  • @thessims

It's easier for the alcohol to exspand in the little space in the "straw" instead of the big space of the bottle.

  • the air is trapped between the clay and the liquid. All the content of the bottle (both AIR and LIQUID) expands. The only way out is the straw. By the way ... air expands even more then liquid and maybe he should've mentioned that in the video. And the air press more on the liquid then the liquid itself expands....how about that?

  • @thessims because the bottle is too big to actually let it expand the straw on the other hand is small so it can actually do something as it acts like a vacuum when the heat risis and acts like a blower when its getting cold simple science my friend

  • @thessims because the exit of the straw is IN the liquit , it's a pressure/density thing

  • cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Your presentation is a bit inaccurate. You refer to the temperature causing the alcohol to expand and contract. But the way your thermometer is constructed, the largest effect is the expansion and contraction of the gas (the air) in the thermometer, which is pushing the alcohol up the tube. If you use the same plans except have no air in the thermometer, you will see that the distance up the tube produced by temperature changes is vastly different.

  • DO NOT DRINK?! I'd totally drink it :)

  • Celsius - Swedish guy look him up...

  • you guys are rude

  • and ur a fucking fag ur the one who needs to get a fucking life all u like to do is complain complain complain about this and the and how ur cum tastes

  • Dude thats gay

  • lol

  • That's cool!

  • UNtil the straw warps, then you replace it. Now figuring out what temp.

  • Thermo is ancient greek and not latin.!!!

  • In the stoneage people used harder rocks aginst softer larger ones, to create a hole in it, so they could fill it with water.

Then they waited for the winter to frezze the water, making it expand so the rock would come apart...

I tried it and it works, believe me, you wake up in the middle of the night, cause of the loud cracksound when a 2 ton rock splits in half at -7 Celsius...

  • Cool Idk Why This Was Thumbed Down Tho So I Uped It

  • No wonder..

They dont believe either that my cellphone vibrates when i get a mail.

Thats how i can respon pretty quick, but stil use my main time in my garden or whatever i do at home.

Its so fix set up that it ONLY vibrates when im near my house.. :)

Have fun (and do it outside while the air still hmmhmm clean.)

  • Cool! I learned this at school! really cool!

  • zwinkylover ur so gay

  • That's nice and cool, except for the fact that this young man doesn't have the high education that he indicates in the video. "Thermo" is not latin at all...same like "meter". I 'll let you find out yourself. First learn, then speak my friend ;)

  • You are right that thermo does not mean heat

Thermae does mean hot springs though. lol I think I still have a vid of my latin IV project on my youtube

  • You are so stupid, your veins will not explode from drinking ice cold water on a hot day, it doesnt even get in your veins directly, let alone cold. Yes, SOME glass can break due to great temperture changes, hoever his video does not show him doing this at all, if you look closer it is 2 different clips.

  • So that makes YOU smart? My degree says not!!!

  • you tell him arion

  • can someone tell me this asap does it matter what color of food coloring?

  • no it doesn't it just makes it visible, chose your favourite color :)

  • favorite, silly :)

  • thermo comes from greek. When trying to look wise check your data not to look stupid.

  • I was about to say that.

  • can it come out the top?

  • i needed it to mesure the ice with salt and without salt. can you help me on this? its for my school projec. or use the same thing?

  • True

  • saskes my bitch

  • We had a project in school that we had to make a weather tool. A couple of people did a bulb thermometer.

  • Hey can u use play doh rather than modeling clay?????

  • y room dont have a closet

  • Cause he's not gay.

  • i think he meant MY room and was replying to the comment marked as spam below

  • is it just me or is this pointless, seeing as it dosent tell you the degrees of the heat...

  • Boil water until it starts to boil, with the thermometer you made, then mark the liquids peak at 100*C.

Then put it in freezing water and mark that 0*C.

Make even divisions between 0 and 100....

  • same bottle u used for the egg lol

  • what happens to the air inside the straw??

i no air compresses n all but wouldnt the water just go up outside the straw??

  • its because the straw is in the liquid and the liquid can move easier up the straw than the air can.

  • so what are you getting at??

wouldnt there still be the same volume of air inside the straw as outside the straw??

so the water would just rise in the pot aswell as in the straw????

  • wait i forgot, he covered the bottle to compress the air outside the straw, sorry my bad XD

  • its because the water has no where to go and because water isn't compressible, it has no where to go but out the only exit - in this case it is the straw. its simple hydrolics

  • i no . . i realised that when i CORRECTED MYSELF, i didn't need your input anymore

    gahd . .

  • I don't see any reason to have alcohol in that mixture. The air expanding and contracting is causing the water/alcohol mix to rise and fall. Alcohol is used in real thermometers, but those don't have air in them.

  • The air in that bottle has a much higher potential to expand on temperature changesand press the alkohol into the straw. I belive the alcohol itself has a much lesser part on it.

  • tu puta jefa

  • yeah if you wanna your guts to freeze and explode then do that xD

  • "warning, do not drink this water it will not measure temperature on the inside of your body" lol 5/5

  • I love science!!!

  • Yeah, anemelos1980dim is right, it comes from the greek word for temperature which is thermotita (θερμότητα)

  • thermo comes from greek word,,,not latin...

  • "warning do not drink this liquid, you will get totaly hammered and go blind" lol

  • lmao

  • lol

  • ROFL gf man gf

  • warning do not drink water its bad for you!!

  • The only way for the water to expend is by going up and the end of the straw is the only way op xD

  • thermo=hot in Greek... :-pppp

  • i need to know how to make a weather thermometer!! coz in malaysia here now is very cold

  • not really... i only know it was 25 degree something

  • add some blood

  • this isn't scary or anything just do it. k

    1.hold your breff now

2.copy then post to another video

3.if you have done this with out the smallest breff trust me u r a great kisser sorry had to try it!!!

  • well, not to be offensive, but..... it looks like you are sucking/blowing on the straw to make the levels change, though i do belive the consept VISIT MY CHANNEL!!!!!

  • how did u make the wosh sound in between scene?lol is sound funny to me,sry, just a stupid thing...

  • very nice! it looks sweet!

  • so you can still do it with water but it will take a bit long?

  • damn i drank it couldnt resist

    LMAO

  • Great video. I am a teacher, and think he's done a great job on this!
