@HikaruYunibasaru The tail forms when the sun partially melts it during the time it approches the sun so when we see it in the sky, it is easy to spot due to its tail. Comets are beautiful but in ancient times, they represent bad omens however i don't really belive that.
@alezander666 Comets orbit the sun. Some can be in short periods but many are long periods. Due the intese gravitational field of the sun, the oribit path of the comet is made and they are fast because they are attracted by the sun's gravity. however, they speed up only when they are close to the sun and suddenly slow down when farther because the gravity is weaker. There, away from the heat of the sun, ice can form on the comet therefore making it cold. (Continued in following response).
Like the side bar says, the tail was stripped due to magnetics because a purely mechanical effect would have stripped the existing tail, but it would have replaced it with a possibly larger one fron the head of the comet.
