  • Nice one James, for a history of the parade, check out midsummerwatch.co.uk

    cheers David

  • @daviddownhill Thanks, I will

  • James, really there should only be 4 giants as thats what was always in the march dating back to 1498. My friend Dave Roberts organised this event 21 years ago and brought the giants back to chester. he also buily them. this was only my second time walking them. And wheels? I wish! we carry them!

  • @claynutz Thanks for the info. I watched one of the videos again, and I can see feet under the costumes. I'm sure I saw some on wooden frames with wheels on. I know about the family of 4 giants, but since I have been coming to watch the parade there has always been more.

  • I was in the Female giant in the light blue at 9mins 16 seconds. Loads of fun but when i got home i was exhausted!!! great day ;-)

  • @claynutz I bet you were. You're one of the regulars, right? I think there were a lot of new giants in it this year. How exactly do they move, are they on wheels?

  • OMGOSH! I was in this. I was one of Satins Drummers. :D We come in at around 7:40, dressed in black and red. The drum was so heavy though. :D xx

  • @BeaaBeaaGun Hi Bea, I'm a regular to this parade. I remember your group very well, are you the one leading them? I thought this year's was bigger & better than ever; can't wait for next year! Thanks for watching

  • Great to see this one too...it's hard for me to explain what I mean...but I love to see all the old buildings in the BG...I can tell it's Europe...I'm going to have to visit! lol Looks like a lot of fun! :)

  • @MrKingsRow I think I captured the parade better from looking down on it. Chester is only a short train ride across the other side of the Mersey from Liverpool. It is a Roman built city dating back to 75 AD. Most of the original city wall is still standing, also part of the amphitheatre and other Roman remains. Most of the Tudor buildings date back to th 1600's. If you are interested in a bit bit of history then Chester is the place to visit.

  • Nice One James.

  • @malstu Thanks, your slides are very good too.

  • You have really captured to atmosphere of the day Jim

  • cool parade!!!
