As a Viet. Era Vet, that later flew with James Bond Stockdale in Deep Freeze. And also later attached to John McCains rag squadron in light attack, John McCain was not highly thought of at all in the enlisted ranks which I was in. A lot of people refered to his screw up on the USS Oriskany wet starting his A-4 and causing the fire that killed over 300 sailors. (It's always been purposely confused with the USS Forestal fire, and white-washed away. He could have resigned his commision then.
These POW's suffered horribly, not only with physical beatings, but some of them were abused in very degrading and traumatic ways that should never be made public.
Just because a former POW is running for president does not diminish their rights to have this information be kept private. When they came home and were being debriefed by intel, they had no expectation that what they said would ever be made public and broadcast all over the internet.
