Where were the Seacabs in relation to the rest of the attraction? I must've been to this pavilion a dozen times, and never knew there was a ride inside. Never even heard anyone talk about it until now.
@RepublibotThreePoint .. Have you ever been to it before it was Nemo-themed? When it was The Living Seas, you pretty much had to ride the seacabs to get to Seabase Alpha, unless you went out of your way to use the walkway to bypass the ride.
@shadowfaqs I've been there a dozen times before it became the "Nemo" thing. I always came in through the Hydrovators. I never saw or even heard of the seacabs before now! Seriously: where were they? I never even saw an exit for them into the seabase.
@RepublibotThreePoint .. As can be seen in the video, the hydrolators exited right into the load area for seacabs. Literally, the hydrolator doors open and you're looking at the seacabs. The only way not to ride them was to walk past the queue and go through the doors on the left side of the room directly to Seabase Alpha. I don't know how you could have missed them. Unless you came in through the exit hydrolators. :/
I can get teh nostalgic aspect, and I love Epcot for that, however, when you consider that World of Motion, Horizons, Spaceship Earth, the Living Seas, and Universe of Energy, all had the same concept of moving through progressive technologies, then i completely agree with the ideas of changing some of those rides. Nemo to me is a great eye catcher to inspire kids to want to explore the actual learning areas in the paviion. you can't just throw knowledge at kids. you must inspire.
I haven't been in the living seas since 2000. I was at Epcot in May 2010, and skipped it. I don't know what this is. I don't remember it when I was there last. Thanks for your videos. Once they change a ride, it's the only way to re-live it.
I made a Facebook group called "Bring Back the Hydrolators at Epcot" if anyone would like to join it. Just type the title into the search box for the group. Thanks
I'm very happy to see kids excited about the ocean through Nemo et el, and if it makes them come away with a new-found interest then that's even better, but I'm still upset about seeing the old Living Seas go. The stuff that used to be in there represented an industry I was constantly exposed to during my childhood, and so I've always had a soft spot for the pavillion.
What's bad show in that? The CM, who is manning their console and most likely can't leave their post, is calling to the Guest who passes by the camera moments before that the door they're trying to go out isn't an exit. (The doors behind the camera that she'd be going toward led back to the circular pre-show theater room)
Once I hit like 5 I realized the hydrolaters weren't taking us anywhere but it was still fun to pretend that we were deep underwater. ^^

I never got to experience Seabase Lapha. I should really stop watching these videos as they make me pine for things I never had.

The ilussion of movement inside the Hydrolators was perfect. I guess next to the windows were a track of rubber rocks on a loop?

The Living Seas was basically timeless. And the Hydrolators were really freakin' cool.

The Living Seas was definitely in need of plussing, but cartoon fish weren't the answer, no matter how much I liked the movie said fish stared in.

I remember as a child I actually believed the hydrolator was a type of elevator that took you to a different level of the building. :P

They go through all the trouble to make the hyrdolator seem real, and then as you exit you immediately see emergency exit doors to the left.
