These planes are designed to fly through hail storms, rain storms, and even hurricane force winds and rain, I think they could handle a mentally challenged firetruck spraying water in their engine.

Ya, but to test modern engines they throw baseball sized chunks of ice into the engine, and by the speed of the plane, the water from a storm would be entering the engine 3-4 times faster then ANY firetruck in the world can spray.
