  • The excruciating German is nothing compared with the awful voice and singing. After the schoolboy falsetto at 1:36 (Domingo never could sing quiet) and the hideous yell at 1:50 I could take no more. So far six and a half thousand have people have wasted their time on this when they could have been listening to tenors.

  • the ongoing debate on "latin-born" singers gaining a complete mastery of the german language rages on. Other latin singers who were successful in German include Ramon Vinay born in Chile but was raised in France. Francisco Araiza Mexiican, trained in Zurich. Opera singers also nurture their legato line and some are less willing to brutilize that line with the rigors of the german language than others. Domingo is perhaps the most accomplished operatic artist ever which this clip attests to...

  • Of course the out-pouring of sound is great. My only quibble is that you'd think at this point he'd be able to produce German consonants. My German is not that advanced and some words are sort of jarring to me. I can't imagine how they sound to a German-speaker.

  • clearly didn't enjoy singing that in an eternity lasting opera which isn't right for him. still owned it.

  • Domingo als Weltklasse-Tenor ist aber im Lohengrin eine Fehlbesetzung, denn er ist nach meinem Gefühl zu lyrisch.

  • who order a large ham?

  • THis guy do it all, and do it all wonderfully

  • Wow, pitchy! Some of the most off singing I've heard from Domingo. Still a gorgeous voice.
