Modern Hebrew wasn't the same as language of book, but was modeled after modern arabic. If ancient language missed something, it was taken from arabic.
That is Abir begining with the letter A'iyin while Abir the system is written with an Alef. The Arabic means aromatic or a parfum like scent .The Hebrew means mighty or a royal knight of the kings of Israel.
8IMONN your the biggest idiot in the world jews fought wars for thousand of years before guns and tanks ofcourse they knew how to fight and had fighting teqniques yoshia ben nun was a warrior ...............your just so uneducated you shouldnt write things down without knowing what your talking about.
Look at the that! It's the common mix of modern techniques, often took from Jujitsu, used to create a fake new "traditional" art. They also did it with the Egyptians
So because I am a Christian pastor and a lover of martial arts - does that make me a heathen?? Your also clearly uneducated about what is and what is not the Bible. Alanch90 is correct. Also, if you were true in your practice of Christianity you would not be so hostile in your attitude and bearing false witness through your claims. True martial arts, first and foremost, are about peace and discipline of the mind and health of the body. Violence is not its purpose.
in acient times jews where adventurers and lot of ppl includig sofer stick to that some forms of this may come from chinesee martial arts when they travel there for trade some of his ancestors learn it thats about open hand but the weapons techniques comes streight from israel, in fact from 12 tribes where every each one tribe has his own techniques
Interesante. Pero personalmente prefiero el Krav Maga (el arte marcial de las Fuerzas de Defensa Israelies por excelencia) que es mas facil de aprender, aunque no menos letal.
This is possibly the only Jewish tradition that still uses the ancient Ktav Ivri (lit. Hebrew Script) that existed before the Babylonian exile as opposed to the Ktav Ashuri (lit. Assyrian Script) that branched off of Aramaic script.
"what does it have to do with the bible?" All of the movements in the Abir forms mimic the shapes of the Hebrew alphabet (half of the Bible is written in Hebrew) and they state that Abir has been around since Biblical times.
The Muslims of China have also developed systems of Kung Fu. Some Islamic Kung Fu systems from China are Baji Quan, Zha Quan, Qishi Quan, Hui Hui Shiba Zhou, Xinyi Liuhe Quan, Pigua Quan, Tan Tui, and Tong Bei Quan.
The oriental "martial arts" got their start when monks from India inroduced them there. The Indians picked it up from Alexander the Great's troops. The Greeks called it "pankratos" or Pankration. Pankration was the original and only combat sport of the Olympic games during it's first 1000 years.
I think a major reason why they are not incorporated more is simply because the Abir fighting stance, and how they move is so much different.
Abir seems like Tae Kwon Do in that it is just as much as Kata/rituals and the spirituality and tradition as it is about fighting. Krav is just the opposite, all of that is superficial when your ultimate goal is survival and ultimately, success
There is scientific purpose to the ABIR dances. The dances are a mechanism to preserve and pass on the bio-mechanical knowledge of the movements. Learning the precise sequences of movements of the dances imprints them on the neuro-muscular system. Thus it is possible for a person to pass this "knowledge" on even if it wasn't understood that he was learning actual principles of combat. There is a side to ABIR that is frighteningly deadly. That is why the tzahal spec ops units have taken to it.
Yehoshua Sofer is no fake. I have spoken with him before, and he is a talmid chakham (Torah scholar) as well as a warrior. He is reviving an aspect of religious observance that has been forgotten among most Jews in Exile. Following G-d doesn't mean ignoring the health and strength of the body. It just means that you know your strength comes not from within, but from Him. I'm not a Jew either, but a Noahide, so I follow the Seven Laws of Noah, which is part of the Torah.
I never knew King Abdullah's body guards were Jewish... lol

"abir" in the hebrew language means in english the word "knight"
but i dont think he's referring him self as a knight.
in other interview, abir said that the characters of hes name have theire own meaning
the meanings are:
in hebrew the letteres are: אביר
א: אדוננו (our leader)
ב: בוראנו (our creator)
י: יוצרנו (our maker)
ר: רופאנו (our healer)

Every time he says ABIR it sounds like "a beard", so I keep thinking he says things like, "A beard is the perfect way to fend off attackers..."

God is all about love.
The Bible/christianity have nothing with martial arts to do.
And please, Jews only believe in the old testament, so don't call it biblical. The Bible consist of the old and the new testament.
8imonn 3 years ago
so whats ur point?
bible is the only word to traduce "tanakh" wich is known by the non jews as the "old testament".
by the way, also the shaolin monks practice martial arts while they pray.
