@shaterproofblosm I believe the song list was the same as the DVD/Double CD. All the band members took the stage except for David. I could feel the chill from the dry ice fog, then David walked on stage, he was wearing a long sleeve white button down shirt with the cuffs rolled up a bit and I was amazed at how composed he looked as he shredded the air with the first notes of Shine On You Crazy Diamond like on this video.
@shaterproofblosm A few months later that summer, the concert played live on German tv from the Netherlands where I think they filmed most of the Delicate Sound of Thunder video. There were cameras at the Mannheim concert that I went to as well. I have seen a lot of concerts, but this was definitely in the top 5 all time with The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rush (4x) and Metallica/Guns N Roses or the Scorpions, Queen, The Cult...hard to put them in order.
Hello, I was in Münich 1988 and we sit in front of the fence at a gate on a little Tree, no Ticket, and we saw everthing, it was unbelieveable, no words can really explain it. I love this. I first saw it when it first came out on VHS in ... 1989? Just a guess. I loaned it to a student shortly afterwards, and thus lost it forever. I keep hoping it will show up on DVD some day. Every few years, I check, but no.
I watched this with my first wife, before she was my first wife. That seems even longer ago than the album, and the concert that it spawned. What a world, when things to have happened so long ago, and also yesterday.
dude, your story is familiar. I got this for christmas about the same time. I was young and poor and didn't have a vcr. Took it to a friends house about an hour away one weekend. We watched like 2 or 3 times and I told him to hang on to it, cause I couldn't play it at home. Never saw it again. Btw, I think its on dvd, check amazon.

Rachel Fury, never bettered, say what you like i won't budge on this one. Everytime she belts those chords out it moves my soul & i'm close to tears! that to me is magic & no one has done that before!
@buddhaboy1972 I would be interested in what you base this bold comment on........since Samantha wasn't even involved with PF for at least a year after this performance. Word-up.
@buddhaboy1972 So in other words, when I saw them live, some tech genius (such as yourself) over-dubded everything to make it sound good. That what you're saying? Personally, I don't think techies are that good. And if you are NOT an expert or a PF engineer, how could you possibly know all these things? If you ARE a bonafide tecnician, then I would certainly be careful what information you spread about on YT!
@technocrash09 Are you just slow or dumb? Overdubbed in studio what i meant. in Live environment was indeed Rachel Fury's voice allright. Delicate Sound of Thunder recording is overdubbed.
@buddhaboy1972 Slow or dumb? Look, my original comment was about the appearance of Rachel and how much I enjoy seeing and hearing her. Then you come along and try to spoil it by giving some "techie insight" about dubbing. Honestly? I doubt your information but I suppose you could be right. Slow or dumb? I've probably forgotten more about PF than you will ever know or learn from the internet (or maybe Buddha, in your case). Sam Brown's association with the band? Short & Forgettable
@technocrash09 What? Sam Brown was in The Division Bell Tour as a backing vocals and even with Knebworth 1990. Rachel Fury's involvement is more forgettable than Sam's.
@buddhaboy1972 Here is how forgettable. I've been a fan since the 60s. I've attended many shows, INCLUDING the show SB performed on (i.e. Division Bell tour). Before you brought it up, I had never heard of her. THAT's forgettable in my book!
@technocrash09 point taken, but i won't take my words about overdubbing. altho I like more Rachel's part in The Great gig in sky which is close more original Than Sam's. I hate that Sam's kind ruined that part in pulse
@buddhaboy1972 -------------and you still haven't proven to me how you know all of this fantastic information. Are you their engineer? Do you work in the studio?-------------Or did you just read it on some jerks blog? *still curious, slow and dumb!*
@buddhaboy1972 Yeah, right-----you read it on wikipedia----------word-for-word. You think I'm sitting here believing you know David Gilmour? Ha! Now I AM amused! According to your beloved wikipedia: "Brown provided *note* SOME backing vocals for Pink Floyd on their 1994 album, The Division Bell, and accompanied them on ONE tour to promote the release." From 87 to 89, Rachel performed on 3---count'em---3 CONSECUTIVE tours!
@13Psycho13 Still alive! According to wikipedia-------"After 1989, Fury retired from performing. According to Pink Floyd fan sites, she now lives in London and maintains an interest in animal welfare."
these guys are in different league to others still to this day timeless thanks for the videos cant understand how it gets 2 dislikes there's some funny creatures out there
Thank you for the post - saw this is Dallas on this tour. Better than pulse, because at the time, everybody thought that they were so caught up in legal issues with Roger Waters that they would not play any of the old stuff. When they came out with the second set, everybody went freaking nuts. Another thing, their speakers were set up so that this concert was not only played in stereo, but each speaker would play at one time. When the helicopter came in, you felt it around the whole arena.
I think it's Venice and was a free gig, was shown on british tv at the time they were made to play with reduced sound levels to prevent damage to the historic buildings of venice...
The tour was billed has having the loudest quadraphonic sound system ever and the biggest lasers.
It was my first proper gig when I saw them play wembley stadium in 1988 and will always remember feeling the music vibrate my internal organs, happy days...
"There's an unceasing wind that blows through this night / There's dust in my eyes THAT BLINDS my sight / And a silence that speaks SO MUCH LOUDER THAN WORDS / of promises broken..." ((followed by best guitar solo ever)) [18:34]
great; but shine on you crazy diamond is very incomplete! shame because i was looking forward to Gilmore's gutar solo which one of his best one's in my view.
Money is missing another great song with a fantastic guitar solo.
Also the video is NOT HD, HQ maybe but the picture should be crystal clear and it wasn't.
@pauljohnsonJnr600 This was uploaded in HD mainly to maximize the sound quality and make it best possible for YouTube. The video itself is not high definition, as unfortunately there is no better version than this to be found. This is the exact recording released in UK, I have not removed any parts including Shine On... and 'Money' only features on the US release.

This is not the full concert video! "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" is very incomplete (it should be around 8 minutes long, and is only 3 and a half), "Money" is missing...

This is a great piece. If you wish to own this it can only be bought in the US in VHS format, however it is avaliable from over seas and has been converted to DVD format legally. A simple search will find it.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece of music .The artist themselves will not share in the US unless it's a youtube issue .IDK.But I know this is going to the hospital to make my friend feel better . Thanks again.
@MrKevinls and do I, I was a country boy 18 years of age and off to the big city to see PF. . I thought " ok a concert , as in many more similar ones will follow" but ,boy was I in for a surprise , there i was in this huuuge mass of a crowd of an approximate 60.000 people, in this park, all about "peace and loving",maybe an odd 40 yards from the stage, and then "THIS" happened to me. I've long since then come to the conclusion that that was IT. full stop There is no higher
In my ears, this is the absolute masterpiece of music. And still stays the highest for almost 35 years. Grabbing through time and the universe - and encompasses it all. Thanks for posting!
Thank you AlinMCs!!! It's been so long since I've seen this video. About twenty years or so. I had forgotten how cool "Signs of Life" is. I bought an issue of Modern Drummer today because it had Nick Mason on the cover. That led me to youtube and BAM!! I hit the motherload!
We had this video in the house I lived in during college. I think it was on at least every other day, if not more. Listening to David, and watching those girls sway, brings back great memories.

from the light show, this looks like PULSE. But the band looks at least 5 years younger. When did this happen?
