Hideaki Anno should have the final say so far as the main storyline.

It will have to be a trilogy. Also, Rei MUST be an albino with blue hair.

Obviously, they will have to make a few changes, like the age of the pilots, maybe in their early 20's instead of being 14. They can still have certain plot devices like sync ratios, etc. that makes it where only they can be the pilots.

I think the modern CGI of the Evas will be awesome, just look at District 9's mecha action and how cool it looked.

I feel like this franchise can't visually work as a live action film. Unless they go all out with the CGI like 300 or I, Robot, everything from the fight sequences to the whole "buildings retracting into the ground" thing is going to look silly. As for the actual story, I'm afraid they'll dumb it down significantly to reach blockbuster status. Then again, The Dark Knight was the highest-grossing film of 2008, so there might be hope for another smart blockbuster after all.

The movie is in 'progress' stage. Also, I wouldn't want Michael Bay or Zack Snyder on this. And also, the Japanese with the exception of The Returner, really have a sad time in acting in this genre of this kind. They're very poor in this.

Agreed, everything he does is too overblown, alright for Transformers but definitely not fine for NGE. Also his movies have a bad habit of attracting Ben Afleck to the cast.

They announced it in 2003, in 2006 WETA and GAINAX sat and down and signed a contract to make a trilogy, in 2007 they had raised over half the $120 Million budget, and just last year a producer was named to the project.

Also, two words: Gundam Saviour.

Live Action, Japanese made, and it sucked, really REALLY sucked.

Sorry, but the Japanese are just as liable as any western studio, at least with WETA we're promised some quality and Evangelion's creator's input.

If the movie project doesn't fall through in the time I manage to graduate from film school and persue a career (if that happens) and I still feel keen on taking this up, I'd take helm and make sure everything in the movie worked and it compliments the source material perfectly.

But of course, this is just a silly little fantasy for now so all I can say is, I can see it working better if they made a trilogy so they may have more room to expand the storyline and pace it well. That's my views.

I would describe eva as a post apocalyptic, coming to age story, that borrows losely from religions story of the end of the world, and gets it high on LCD, if the movie seems to turn into anything but that, it will fail with the fans.

I'm Serbian, I'm from Europe, and I like the original even if the aliens made it, not Japs. Any changes to make it look more cool and less cruel will only ruin it. NGE is cruel and its realistic, its not a fairytale like LOTR. And it should remain that way!

Fans would be confused if Elijah Woods or a Texan were being being overly apologetic for their faults, AND NOT be considered cowardly. Social context like that would be warped and ruined.

Gainax has free license to "spice" up the plot with their new 4 movies.

Richard Taylor seems to be the only person (kinda) attached to the project that some fans feel they can trust. I remember when he spoke at the Nova Expo (forgot what year that was) and made comments to the effect of "we should set the film in Japan with a mostly Asian cast because LOTR equals something, yadda yadda..." people who were sternly against Westernization (and thusly the film itself) swooned. Compare that to Matt Greenfield's bizarre "musings" on the Platinum DVDs.
