@littlesercet No, most of the methods you mentioned are rarely used because of animal protection laws .I looked it up and they now teach the animal using positive reniforcement and bonding with a certian trainer/specialist so they become more compliant to do the act.

Anne the elephant was beaten and the UK have the best welfare laws to protect animals in the world. In order to make cirus animals do this types of 'tricks' they have to have been abused in some way shape or form.

About 30 years ago when I visited Turkey I saw many Turks with huge Pet Bears that often stood on their hind legs. I was 5' 7 and in a picture the standing bear was taller than me! These bears were not muzzled and appeared to be totally domesticated and gentle. I was trying to find pictures of these beautiful animals and wound up here. Treats work just as well as punishment to train animals--and that includes human animals. I can only hope these bears are treated well.
