@cookiemonstrcupcake around 48 or so, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is somewhere around 20 then this is the sequel Higurashi no Naku Koro ni kai, also around 20, and then there's rei which is completely irrelevant to the story but is I think 5 episodes long if you still want more Higurashi.

the second season is easily better than the first one. the people believing the first one is best is people that I consider watching it for the violence rather than the beauty of the whole thing. I DO NOT like the ending of the second season though. it feels so rushed. it is actually the only anime that managed to kill the tension two episodes before the end. in my eyes at least.
