@BIGGrobb sure that is true but if you really do that math you need to double the speakers you have ( and for the sake of argument you have 2 subs) to get 3 db's sooooo if you had a competition car and u had 148 db's to reach the world record which i believe is around 173 er so you would need to double the speakers 25 times, which is a huuuuuuuuuuuge number. 7 little speakers will do nothing to enhance your loudness or sound quality whatsoever.

@number1barber Umm... I think you'll find that the volume will increase by adding more speakers. A speaker creates soundwaves by moving air, the more air moved, the louder the sound. Having more cones means more air will be moved.

A lot of bass players prefer having several smaller cones rather than one large one as it gives them a tighter response (with all the original bass). I believe behringer were experimenting with a PA system designed around this concept.

Umm... Actually what you said is wrong. The more speakers you have, the greater the amplitude (loudness) of the wave, due to interference. This is due to the waves interfering with each other. Yes more air is moved but that is not why the sound appears louder. The more speakers the greater the amplitude at the maxima. Therefore the louder the sound.
