lol i remember first seeing him when he was a 16-day champ...haven't seen the show in a while so i assumed that something was up, since i was used to the 5-day rule. and then i remember watching him every day until he lost. I bet he hates fedex forever now lol.
@noclassatall You're probably thinking of the movie quiz show, which was based on a true story. But that quiz show format was way easier to rig than jeopardy is.
I remember this! This was such a great moment, not only in Ken's incredible run, but also in the show's history! Thanks for posting this, darijoe - 'twas awesome to see this moment again!
@noclassatall How is this relevant to your original claim that it was fixed? And why hire Ken? And how could he manage to buzz in so fast? How could he memorize so much and blow out so many people?
Some people are a bunch of paranoid conspiracy SOB's I swear.
@noclassatall Few weeks? The rule was changed at the beginning of season 20. This clip is from the season finale of that season. It was several months after they changed the rule.
@TheAeroMechanic omg i cant wait to see that. he and brad rutter are going up against the computer and his name is watson. just thought you should know. :)
@gatewood99 He had to have thrown that last question because why would he of all people put FedEx down when most people know mail is delivered year round. Seems fishy :)
@ArmadilloAl That's true, but I thought the question asked for a firm that 'only' works 4 months out of the year. Even though FedEx may hire seasonal workers, it's still a yearly firm.
@CrazySpaz833 I just looked at the clue...it asked for the firm where the *workers* only worked for 4 months, not the firm. The part that ruled out FedEx was actually the word 'white-collar'. But still, if you do your own taxes (like Ken admitted he did), that can be a tough clue to tease out.
Well, that day, there was an end-of-the year of Jeopardy! And at the end of Season 20, we weren't able to complete his streak on Jeopardy! So we continued this incredible streak for Ken Jennings on September 6th. But first, in the summer hiatus, there was the College Championship from July 26-Aug 3, the Teen Tournament from Aug 6-20, Kids Week from Aug 23-27, and Power Players from Aug 30-Sept 3. Words said,"Ken Jennings' streak: To Be Continued..." on September 2004.
Well, I'd tell you. When I first saw Jeopardy! in 2004, I was watching "Jeopardy!" history in the making! At that point, Ken Jennings has won 38 games and has a total of $1,321,660. Already, a record on Jeopardy!
Ken Jennings sets the one-day record on Jeopardy! At that time, 20th season of Jeopardy came to an end even though Ken Jennings' run was still in progress
When the next Tournament of Champions appears for now, it's possible Roger Craig might not be a semifinalist because of Tom Nissley about to have a seventh game of his own tonight.
@David9788 That's why he changed the title for this video.
But it's important to remember, just because the single-day winning record was surpassed six years later doesn't mean Ken Jennings was any less famous on Jeopardy. Practically any record on Jeopardy can be surpassed. It's just like the Guinness World Records. Even if your record gets surpassed, you still get equal recognition.
So there's no need for you to try to defame the video. This video has been up years before Roger Craig was on.
Roger Craig is the best player I've seen in a while.....although he damn near slipped up today. However I still like his style. If you come across a double Jeopardy in a catagory you feel strong in then bet like it's final Jeopardy. I've seen so many contestants make 1-2 thousand dollar wagers that won't do them any good at all. If I ever make it to the show I'll either win or go down swinging!
Jennings was good but I'm not sure he would even rank top all time if the older guys were allowed to go past 5 games. I think Chuck Forrest was really good. Although he didn't do well in the various tornaments later on. All that said there is no doubt Brad Rutter was the best to ever play the game.
Chuck ran into bad luck in the tournaments - he never could hit the daily doubles. Its hard to say if Rutter was the best because he never competed on 75 games in a row - what amazes me most about Jennings is his extreme quick response on the buzzer.
@jimraw1 The only way to really judge is head to head. When that happened Rutter pretty much mopped the floor with Jennings.
In any case I think it's about time for another super tournament.
In the last five years I've watched Jeopardy on and off so I can't truly judge but I haven't seen any player that could really hang with either Jennings or Rutter
Yeah, he cleaned Jeopardys clock all right, but he brought in ratings like crazy. I was 14/15 years old during his run, and I watched him everyday, until football started and I thought I was never going to get to watch him again due to practice, and after my entire high school season ended, I went home after school and turned it on, and the guy was still playing! It was nuts!
Except he's the millionaire, while you're the dumbass trying to flame him anonymously on Youtube. If he's a tool, what exactly does that make you then? Epic fail? My thoughts exactly.
@mrkidd1 Yeah I wish he did, but if he risked the $48,600 he needed to get to $100,000 and didn't know the answer while the others did, he would have probably lost the game with $2,800. He would have looked so stupid had he lost!
@StefanHRasmussen Of course he would eventually lose, but the fact is he had got himself into a position where on this episode he was so far out in front, it would be idiotic to risk losing if you didn't need to by betting less, benefiting him by not losing then and earning more money in the meantime and losing later.
he wagered a lot of money on double jeopardy questions and kept losing them, then missed an easy final jeopardy question. he still answered the majority of the questions.
No doubt your conservative father or mother told you that nonsense.
In addition to his trivial intelligence, I'm quite certain he has the wherewithal to find legal ways and tax loopholes to avoid the typical 35-40% tax that would be rendered upon his winnings.
