too much dicking around for my taste. bireli is a little too stuck on standard jazz for me. the festival at samois is largely GYPSY.

@xemosintightsx People like Bireli keep it alive. You can't play the same version every single time you play a song. People get very cross saying oh thats not how Django plays this or that. Don't mean to be disrespectful, you're entitled to your opinion as much as i or anyone, but if you want to hear the same thing every time you listen gypsy just go put on your Django records.

@dylanlawless1 i was talking about his tendency to incorporate free form jazz into his playing. standard jazz these days is all about vague interpretations and wild improv. i'm not saying he cant do anything different, i'm saying he can be different, but be a tad more gypsy...because he's at samois...i play lots of gypsy music myself so i'm not just talking out of my behind.
