FYI Bogen 1050. Elton & Bernie are a writing team, hence the song comes from both of them, not just Bernie. The song was written long before Ryan White was born. It was written back in 1968 & is off the Elton's firt album, Empty Sky. So you see, it wasn't written for Ryan. Ryans mother liked the song & asked Elton to sing it at the funeral.

First heard this off the Lady Samatha album in the mid 70's. Later the harpsichord version came out on Empty Sky. This is truly the best version and perhaps Elton John's best song. Bernie wrote good lyrics. Elton is an ass, but this is a great song.
