What is or isn't can't be defined by a collective of people, much less an individual. Personnaly, I don't know what is better or worse, what I do know is what I like and what I don't. And I like Savage Garden in a different way that Darren Hayes, just like I like a friend differently than another one. There's just no comparison. They're both great!
My favourite track from that album... fantastic. As for SG being better- well, it was more popular. Darren has his own depth and message and my hat goes off to his talent, his sincerity and his out of this world beauty. I am really hoping to see him live one day.
i love conversation with god i listen to it quite alot, to me it means that its ok to struggle through life and to scream at some one who keeps pushing you and judge at your mistakes! don't ever let your anger keep in you let it out but safely. thank you so much darren you felt like this and crontroled your anger your a role model!!! in my eyes,
You don't have to believe in God to get this song. He's singing about a struggle, even if that conversation is within himself and not with God, the struggle is the same.
*grin* It's good to have a fine sense of humor ^^ Like I said (even if I didn't spell it right-sorry for that ^_~) I love the Savage Garden songs. And never ever I'd convince someone to NOT love them. But it's not good to dwell on the past. There's always new stuff coming. Wether you like it or not, that's your piece of cake. I won't be the one to eat it all, you know *grin* But I'd give everything a chance to be my next favourite. That way I can give points in a slightly mad way ^^
Well, that's something, isn't it?? That you like at least some of the songs *grin* I have to admit, the more I listen to his albums, the more I'm getting the hang of his music. Even if it's still the simple "Truly madly deeply" that I like to listen the most, or "Chrash and burn". But I guess it's just the go with the flow. His music is rather good, you just have to rearrange your mind ^^
Amen Zoey232. Too many people, esp those in Australia, have written him off as just another singer of shallow, disposable pop music. They don't bother actually listening for themselves, to see how he can write amazing songs like this.
That's my line ^^ Well, actually, I'm from Germany and it's just the same here like in Australia. With Savage Garden, the world went crazy and now, since he is all alone, they simply seem to have forgotten him. It's all in the name, I tell you. If those people would take a little time to really, REALLY listen to his songs, his music, his words, I guess they'd refresh their memories or experience something fantastic totally new. But as things are... At least there are people like us out there ^^
i tell you why nobody doesn't listen to him anymore.. im a big fan since savage garden times and i still listen to him.. but his sound has changed a lot. it sounds gloomier and darker now..they have no positivity anymore.. if it wasn't for his beautiful voice and the memories i wouldn't listen to him either i guess. sad but true.
Darker.... well, I'd say more grown up, but in the end it seems to be nearly the same ^^ Then again you can't expect someone like him to stay the same all the time--- he is older, too, just like us listeners since the beginning. And, that I have to say, this little bit of gloomier music is worth listening to ^^
yes, the same with me :/ I used to be all crazy about SG but Darren's solo stuff isn't my cup of tea anymore.Yes, his voice is still incredibly beautiful but SG is a legend. It was magic and I miss those times like hell...

tha way i see it, savage garden songs had to do a lot with layers.. musically and in lyrics.. i think what is missing from darren in the after sg period, is that there are not that many layers inthe music any more. (just like in photoshop:P, the layers help in enriching the synthesis).i listen to the sg songs and there are so many diffrent sounds in the backround, so well put together. But in any case, darren is talented and alwayswrites from within and that makes his music intresting and special
I wrote a lengthy comment but somewhow it got deleted or something and I'm too lazy to make it up again. The point is, I'm not a fan anymore and all these thumbs down don't bother me at all.I'm just expressing myself as everyone here.Darren is indeed wonderful but it doesn't change the fact that SG was better. Sorry guys, let's face the truth :/
No one stays in the same place forever,Darren is no longer 25,he's grown wiser and mature, his songwriting is more deeper and imaginative. The sound is more electronic than pop/rock.
I wont say that SG were better,"different",yes, but NOT better.
I truly believe Darren has come a long way and he is way better now! His solo stuff is just spectacular.
Not everyone can stomach his new stuff but its more 'Darren' and thats what i love about it!! :)

micnpen, if you are not hearing the "layers" then I don't think you've really listened to much of Darren's recent stuff. That is something he has always done, layering of his voice and layering of the music. Have a real good listen to his latest album, preferably through headphones, you'll be taken to another place.
This really should have been the first single off "This Delicate thing we've made". Incidentally, this song is being played on high rotation on "Radio Creme Brulee" - a Boston-based internet music radio station that features current pop/rock from both sides of the Atlantic alongside guilty pleasures, radio hits, and forgotten gems from the 80s,90s,and early 00s. To listen, type "radiocremebrulee" in the search field and it should be the 1st result. Yes, view the website ONLY in firefox!!!
I love this song <3 But what happened with the original video, the cartooned video with a car driving around on a bridge?

It's so good when you're listening to this song in your car, you're off for a long drive and you're leaning your head on the window of the car...

This is undoubtedly one of the best song on the album. His songs are lyrically par excellence.
I wish he got more recognition,he is brilliant, not like the unoriginal, overhyped, forgettable stuff we get to hear these days.
Thanks for putting this up here.
