See, as you correctly said aide was provided by the US and Britain, but it was incredibly minimal, in terms of provisions, weaponary, equipment, household appliances, etc. In essence, the Soviets made everything themselves, and took from the Germans.
In order to attack Russia, the Japanese would have needed to go through allied territory, either through China or through most of Europe. They were busy in China and it was unfeasible, for them to attack the Soviets.
Who cares about supplies and army. Once Germany fell, taking down Japan for the Soviets would have been easier than a walk in the park, especially with their massive production rates.

Incredible...I'm Russian myself living in America and my main study in college is world history. Obviously my fav topic is WWII on the Eastern Front. My family served in the Great Patriotic War and I'm glad to see people like these honoring and passing the story along. I didn't know that about Russian version of the C-47 (which were lend-leased) and he's absolutely right what looks better doesn't mean it works. Im american, and Im one of the few americans who actualy apreciates the sacrifice russia made during WW2... Its a shame our countries have grown to dislike each other, If the USA and Russian became close allies and worked together instead of bicker over petty difrences, we could solve many of the worlds problems and threats such as Iran, and China
agreed but don't forget we are allies just not always friendly. I'm leaving beginning next year for basic and my MOS is 19 Kilo or tank driver so I'll most likely be headed for Afghanistan but possibly Germany as well and there usually we work with Russia in counterterrorism. Obama better strengthen relations though.

A number of things wrong:
1. Factories were moved West to of the Urals, which technically isn't Siberia.
2. 7-9 million troops and 19 million civilians were lost.
3. It's pronounced "P.P.Sh" not "P-P-S-H"
4. The Russian scale of paying off was nowhere near what the Germans did.

Well if we didnt join the war, Britain would have collapsed under the German war machines pressure, and Japan would have kept going with there conquest, This is why Churchill, urged Roosevelt to enter the war, think before you post.

I'm always thinking m8, I never said America made no contribution at all, we absolutely contained the spread of Germany & Japan, but we did not defeat them, their defeat was at the hands of the Russians & the Chinese .. they were the ones that bled and bankrupted them before we even set foot on Europe or Japanese soil. Germany never committed any less than 85% of its war effort to fighting the USSR & the invasion of Britain was called off before Pearl Harbor, know your history before you post.

Japan was allied with Germany which makes Russia there enemy. Japan attacked Russia numerous times (not saying they won) but without us attacking them and stopping them from taking most of the islands in the east for resources, they would have built up a massive army with a big amount of supplies. Anyways I did look it up the U.S. leased about 11.3 billion in supplies to the Soviet Union. The Russians may have pushed them out of Russia but they would have been destroyed if they tryed to fight

The Soviet Union declared war on Japan in August of 1945, prior to that they had a non-aggression pact ... the US did give 11 billion to the USSR, however 11 billion is NOTHING compared to what the USSR produced on its own & in the end they would have won without it, you are parroting propaganda, the US is a great nation but it did not do all the amazing things its people think it did.

See, as you correctly said aide was provided by the US and Britain, but it was incredibly minimal, in terms of provisions, weaponary, equipment, household appliances, etc. In essence, the Soviets made everything themselves, and took from the Germans.

In order to attack Russia, the Japanese would have needed to go through allied territory, either through China or through most of Europe. They were busy in China and it was unfeasible, for them to attack the Soviets.
Who cares about supplies and army. Once Germany fell, taking down Japan for the Soviets would have been easier than a walk in the park, especially with their massive production rates.

thzar, the russians bore the brunt of the fighting in europe against the germans. Without question, you could say that in terms of fighting on the ground, the russians did more to beat the germans then we did.
You could also say, that without question, that without the russian front, things would have been considerably harder for us.
Not to say that the U.S. couldn't have beat germany by itself either.

The reason why the Russians had to bare the brunt of the fight against the nazi's on land was that the Americans also had to deal with the Japanese.
Don't forget that your country had to fight on two fronts. Russian history buffs tend to overlook this fact.
lt goes without saying though that the Russians did a brilliant job in WW2 and have every reason to be proud of that.

I have to disagree with you right there, 1st although the russians did receive stuff from us it was in small number, for example a couple thousand thompson smgs were sent there but thats nothing compared to the millions of small arms they made themselves. The country that received most from the U.S. was Britain.

Remember that Russia by some historian's account was 80% of WW2 in casualties and involvement. The video is a thank you to the Russians for their assistance in defeating Adolf Hitler. I think you had to live through it to appreciate the end of the war.

When it comes to wars there are good and bad people everywhere. The common soldier is usually the good guy doing what he is told to do. I hope the video speaks to him. Hoping all study history and can learn who the bad guys are and can figure out who the good guys are.

no. The only thing copied from finish equipment on russian smgs was the 71 round drum magazine, a copy of the suomi. both the ppd and the ppsh that used it weren't finnish-originated guns. the ppd was derived from the mp-18, the ppsh was original.

Incredible...I'm Russian myself living in America and my main study in college is world history. Obviously my fav topic is WWII on the Eastern Front. My family served in the Great Patriotic War and I'm glad to see people like these honoring and passing the story along. I didn't know that about Russian version of the C-47 (which were lend-leased) and he's absolutely right what looks better doesn't mean it works. Round barrel looks good but stick magazine was the better of the two. Thanks, 5 stars

Its a shame our countries have grown to dislike each other, If the USA and Russian became close allies and worked together instead of bicker over petty difrences, we could solve many of the worlds problems and threats such as Iran, and China

agreed but don't forget we are allies just not always friendly. I'm leaving beginning next year for basic and my MOS is 19 Kilo or tank driver so I'll most likely be headed for Afghanistan but possibly Germany as well and there usually we work with Russia in counterterrorism. Obama better strengthen relations though.
