  • thumbs up if GLEE sends you here

  • OK, it synchronized, now, LEAP OF FAITH

  • That's a very wet kitchen

  • wish i could do that x

  • oh my freaking gosh this is so cool. and obviously it's hard. i'm a dancer and it's hard enough to dance, much less dance in the water, and going upside down all the time, doing everything in sync. i'd love to try one day though.

  • people who does not know how to appreciate are most likely have lots of personal insecurities and most likely no talent at all

  • o my god u have no idea how hard syncro is we just started a new season...try doing sprints for 45 min without a stop! our coaches are so dedicated to this sport it is their life if we screw up in a rutine then they look like bad coaches

  • I love synchronized swimming! My dream is to go to the olympics! Synchronized swimming is my life....i love it so much!!!!!!! thank you esther williams!!! (she invented synchronized swimming)....hahaha I LOVE SYNCHRO!!! GO TEAM USA!!!! see you in 2012 olympics in London! :D

  • well, as long as this 'sport' keeps them in shape and healthy, I would recognize it as a legit sport :D. And for some reason, I find it pretty artful :)

  • @Slick2614 Pffft! Try running a mile whilst pointing your toes, holding your breath and smiling. Then maybe you'll understand how difficult this is! Get over yourself!

  • synchronized swimming is ridiculously hard. you have to have really strong leg muscles and your abs have to be developed. you have to be able to do two pool lengths under water without breathing. it's an endurance sport, that's why women do well at it. i'm a former synchro swimmer, and i can tell you, the years that i was doing the sport were the time when i was the most in shape in my life.

  • Just because synchronized swimmers smile and put on make up and glitter doesnt mean that is NOT a sport. it definately is 100% a sport. its becoming athletic everyday. ppl still think that its the old fashioned stuff with side dives and flower caps but its not! you need to know how to swim fast, need to know gymnastics, dance, etc. and all of those things are sports. figure skating is almost the same thing bc they wear makeup and pretty costumes but no one complains that that isnt a sport!!

  • @swimforevaz The skaters aren't JUMPING INTO A POOL, dumbass. Skating is cool and spectacular - wayyyyy better than you ditsy airheads who float upside town and wiggle your ugly toes.

  • im just saying skaters wear makeup and i didnt know we wiggle our toes in the water, haha

  • @Slick2614 You judge something you don't know anything about so harshly without understanding the work that goes into it and you call us airheads? having an opinion on something is fabulous but it doesn't count for much until you have actually attempted to perform the skills involved at an adequate level. Assumption and a bitter need to judge are not qualities that earn respect, instead try being a little open minded. you can hate the sport itself, but still have respect for the athleticism.

  • @Slick2614 u r so wrong. have u ever tryed syncro SWIMMING!

  • I don't usually comment on people's appearances in videos, but is the woman being interviewed TRYING to look as unattractive as possible?

  • Meow

  • has anyone found a link to the whole movie online???

  • 20 years of training culminates in two events that last four minutes each. The utility of such an effort is dubious. Spend 20 years devoting your life to science or math. It will benefit humanity much more.

  • ill tell you what the two sports i could never fully do would be this and cheerleading. i give props to these girls

  • Synchronized swimming is stupid, and should be banned. It's not a sport, it's a bunch of dumb bitches wearing makeup into a swimming pool, and standing on their heads and wiggling their feet at anyone dumb enough to be a spectator. Good for a laugh, nothing more.

  • @Slick2614 Seriously. JUST TRY IT. Or at least go to one of the 5 hour practices synchro swimmers have 6 times a week.

  • @Aquatwinkie101 Because you practice five hours at it doesn't make it a sport. I could drink beer for 5 hours, but that doesn't make it a sport. LOL I WOULD agree if though if they moved this to the Special Olympics. lol

  • @Slick2614 u r so mean. u r so wrong why do you even watch this if u think its stupid???

  • @SynchroSwimmy Because I like to watch dumb bitches make fools of themselves. Also I like the crotch shots, but other than that, it's really quite retarded.

  • @Aquatwinkie101 Riiiiiiight - I'm gonna jump in the pool with a group of dumb bitches with silly grins on their faces, who turn upside down and do splits so people can look at their crotch. LOL It's actually HILARIOUS when you think about it, but it's not a sport.

  • @Slick2614 wow youre a dick. you clearly know nothing about synchronized swimming and your ignorance is embarrassing. why dont you educate yourself to avoid sounding like an ignorant douchebag in the near future, hm?

  • you should watch some synchro vids then if you think that. ur comment is a good laugh for me

  • To alk the people saying it's not a sport and it's easy go try doing it. Also by making it look easy they're do a required scoring field in presentation. So the next time you make a d-bag comment like that try lift another person on your shoulders with no goggles on without using the ground.

  • woahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

if synchro isnt a sport, then why is it in the olympics?

  • where can i get the documentary?

  • 0:23 What is that brown thing?

  • @lloveComedy ahahaha what the fuuuck ew ew ew

  • @GirlGamerReallywild you actually can hear the music underwater, they have underwater speakers. I competed in synchro for 3 years and my cousin is a member of the team featured in this movie! People who think synchronized swimming is ridiculous obviously have not seen this film and know nothing about the sport!

  • @Slick2614 it takes skill to swim let alone synchronized. You have to hold your breath for a long time and remember the counts for every move considering you cant hear the music

  • @Slick2614 Do you even know what football is? Men in shorts running after a ball. Now THATS a sport, *ahum*

  • @Piecesibble: By "football" you mean what euroweenies do? I agree that that's ridiculous. AMERICAN football, REAL football, is like warfare and is cool. Synchronized swimming is stupid. Get rid of the silly ass stunt of turning yourself upside down and waving your legs like you're drowning. LOL

  • @Slick2614 Lol compare american 'football' (it's not actually foot ball now is it?) to rugby. Who needs all the padding? And since when was warfare cool? Idiot boy.

  • @Bumblybee256 OK - I'll compare it. Rugby is a bunch of fags grabbing each other, and tossing the ball will girlish underhand tosses. LOL It's the only thing gayer than euroweenie fooitball.

  • @Slick2614 Sounds like someone's feeling a little bit insecure about their well padded name stealing boy game. Is that what the pads are for? Incase you might touch another man. What horror! So, a closet gay......what else?

  • @Bumblybee256 Yaaaaa - when it's just a bunch of guys feeling each other up, you don't need protection. What would a rugby player do if an american defensive back hit him at full speed? Scream for his mother before he died.

  • @Slick2614 Lol darling, they are wearing PADDING. Good luck with your coming out.

  • @Bumblybee256 And good luck with your foor fetishists - probably the only people who like to watch this RIDICULOUS "sport" - girls idiotically sticking their feet up in the air and waving them around. HA HA HA

  • @Slick2614 Are you sure you don't need some padding?

  • @Bumblybee256 ??? Now you've become incoherent. All that blood running into your head while you were upside down, twiddling your feet must have damaged your brain. HEE HEE

  • @Slick2614 Did it take a lot of padding before you could approach your keyboard?

  • @Bumblybee256 Another thing about this "sport" - there seems to be a little EXHIBITIONISM involved. The gir;ls do these fantastic upside down crotch splits - maybe that's so at least some guys will watch. HEE HEE

  • @Slick2614 lmao, what's a split that's not a crotch split? Why attempt to come off as straight when you add 'HEE HEE' at the end?

  • @Bumblybee256 Why are you obsessed with gayness? I guess it's all that time floating around in the pool grabbing other girls bodies? HEE HEE

  • @Fufabbly69 Sickronized Swimming is for ugly girls with big muscles - pigs wallowing in the water. LOL Quit sticking your cunt in the are like a water whore. HA HA HA

  • 0:54 I am one of those stereotypical people who think it is easy, stupid, etc. is this really an Olympic event? whats next two step country western dancing?

  • i wanna have sex with all of them at the same time

  • i am in a synchro squad at my local pool

it is a sport... because if it wasnt... why would it be in the olympics?

  • I just joined the synchro team at my school. Even thought it was my first day, and it was hard, I loved it. <3 I can't wait until the season starts.

  • what's the ideal height for swimming?

  • anyone who doesn't think that synchro is a sport should go to a synchro team and practice with them and do everything else that they're doing.. it takes years of hard work and dedication to be able to do this well and I've been doing it f or 7 years and theres always more room for improvement.. so the people who think its not should get a bathing suit on, swim upside, while holding their breath, and count to the music and being in synch with the rest of the team.. and you cant touch the bottom..

  • @LongIslandPhil I think it's superhard! One of my friends used to be in synchro team and she had to be at the pool 6 days a week at 4am, they made her swim with her jeans and shoes on in order to develop strength, plus everything you described...it was really hard!.

  • @gloriamargarita oh, and she had to be back at practice afterschool

  • i can suck my own dick,i just farted and shit came out

  • This shit is for pussies

  • @Jfri3s oh? how so?

  • @Jfri3s well yeah girls have pussy that's why they do it.

  • Comment removed

  • swimming and synchronizing... well that kinda hard! need to do steps as a team and strength of hands and legs and also stamina, without this the team/the person is a failure

  • @savang800 its not "kinda" hard. its very very hard.

  • i am a synchronized swimmer and have been for 3 years no and so is my sister we love it but it is hard work but well worth it

  • does anyone know where we can watch the whole thing?

  • Where can I see the full documentary?

  • oohhh

  • I agree it is a sport and as you can see from the ideo its a hard one, I just dont like nor would i ever participate in a sport where you are judged and scored. I only like and participate in sports where you win because you scored more goals/touchdowns/ect

  • FFFFFFF D< EAT MY BUBBLES PEOPLE WHO DONT THINK THIS IS A SPORT ITS VERY HARD COMMITED AND SPECIAL. ok, people who think this is just SOOOOOO easy, how about you post a video of YOU doing this of YOU trying synchro :) we can all have a good laugh to see how much it fails x3 GO SYNCHRO!

  • i really want to see this documentary. actually I want the whole world to see it, and i have officially quit on trying to get people to think its a sport. i'm just gonna prove to people how hard it actually is. so they can come to the olympics(where i will hopefully be swimming in) and KISS MY BUBBLESSS :) <3

  • Synchronized swimming is probably one of the most challenging sports. Holding your breath while doing moves that are extremely difficult. Not to mention having to smile and act like it's nothing. Synchro has been the most enjoyable part of my life, so far. And I'm proud to say that I have been/ am apart of it.

  • people always understate synchro, and when i tell them that i do that they think it's not very challenging, but it is.

  • It is extremely challenging!!!

  • @evamon10 It is very hard i have been doing syncro for 3 years and i thought it would be easier then it is . But now after every practice my legs hands cheeks and especial hands a tows hurt me

  • @evamon10 not the most challenging try skim boarding , surfing, skate boarding, when your at risk of injury

from broken bones to sea life

  • nice swimsuits an bikinis

  • i agree, synchro is very challenging ! i'm a synchronized swimmer and i love it but its so difficult

  • Even freakin' Kobe Bryant said in the September issue of Sports Illustrated that he was genuinely peeved and sorry he didn't get to watch synchronized swimming while he was in Beijing. If you're basketball star can say that, then it's an Olympic sport. He made sure to tell all of the press that synchronized swimming IS indeed, a sport, let alone an olympic sport. If you don't like it, then whatever, but don't hurt us who are training nonstop for years just to make the olympics.

  • Philly, you need to get in the pool and try it. I am a synchronized swimmer, and as you can see in the video, even just the underwater footage, it's INCREDIBLY difficult, and it is a SPORT that requires YEARS of dedication and hard work to get better. COULD YOU get in the pool and do all those leg movements in twelve feet deep water all while vigorously trying to keep yourself out at thigh level? Didn't think so.

  • i notice how the argument is about one person saying synchro is hard etc. BUT it isnt a SPORT !! and the other one saying (with many many many people backing up for that person) that it DEFINETLY is a sport, a very difficult sport. I just cant understand how someone can NOT see that its a really really physically hard sport. and dont try to say that bubble gum whatever etc should be in the olympics as well if synchro is, cause synchro is a real sport. get used to it.

  • @Jaanniikkaa Only an ignorant person can say that this is easy to do. I personally swim quite often and also happen to know someone, who trains synch. swimming. I've watched hours of practice and one thing is sure - you have to have great fitness, agility and strength of the body to do that. And yes, it is a sport for it involves swimming and a mixture of gymnastics (or dancing if you prefer), both of witch are 100% sport disciplines.

PS: Not to mention that it's really beautiful to watch. ^_^

  • @Jaanniikkaa so anything that I call a sport now is justifiable to becoming an Olympic Sport? Sometimes sex seems hard to do, well its at least work in the form of burning calories so its certainly what I would consider a sport. what else... I could have fun with this.

  • @Jaanniikkaa also I have a legitimate question: why are they all skinny? since its obvious muscle is more dense than fat, and dense implies less buoyant... it seems that fat girls could do it easier because they float easier...something to think about at least: try to increase body fat %

  • @slovakmath

They work out every day. Like the speed swimmers> They would have to comsume way too many calories to maintain the weight.

  • @Jaanniikkaa , synchronized swimming is a sport, because your body makes a lot of effort doing the moves and the lungs are very trained to keep a large amount of air inside. You can't critic it because you don't know how is it. I have been making synchronized swimming fro 5 years, and it is very hard.

  • @chillicalifornia read her whole comment... shes talking about what people are saying not what she thinks.

  • as for your other comment; sync swimming also takes strength and speed, as far as i know halo and all your other examples don't. and judges can see who's the best, they have rules and training for that. you don't necessary need a finish line for that. if you deviate more than a certain amount of points from the rest of the panel you get commented on that. i know that judges arent always fair but neither are referees. a trained eye can certainly see who's the best. just like in football or hockey

  • I'm not saying women can't compete. If they are better than a man, they can compete. But if they aren't as good, they aren't as good.

Having sexist events is similar to having racist events. It's a fact that black people are best at short distance running, and east Asians are more flexible. So maybe, we should finish segregating all events. That, or just do in with all the sexism.

  • the male female difference is because of biological differences, men just have more testosteron so they are naturally stronger than women. thats why the events are seperated, not because of ethnic differences. thats the whole point of the olympics, to win for yourself and your country. and for not letting women compete because men are better and stronger, why not do that everywhere? are you going to do laudry because you can lift up the dirty laundry higher than your wife? no i dont think so..

  • phillyphan---- ok well u try synchro one day and tell me if u still think it shouldnt be in the olympics.

  • Another great interview with an interesting person. Thanks!

  • Next stop in impressive athletic and artistic feats with no future career, Drum Corps International!

  • please keep out OOL clean. notice there's no P in it? lets keep it that way...

  • kind of boring

  • yeh, cos u don't do it. but u shuld still realize its one of the hardest sports out there.

  • how do you know i don't do it,but anyway,i didn't mean the swimming,i meant the video.

  • Looks interesting!

Speaking of 'Olympic Sports' - I reckon they should bring back tug-o-war!!

  • Cool Video! 5@@@@@!

  • It's not your decision to make what sports 'belong' in the olympics. every single one of these athlets have worked incredibly hard to get where they are, whether they are synchro swimmers or basketball players or anything else. why some people feel the need to make them feel less then what they deserve is totally disrespectful, and ignorant. if you dont like to watch the sport then dont, but leave it at that.

  • people who are professionalcupstackers also work hard, does that make it right to let them enter the olympics??

    the answer is no ...

  • @xenniex pro cup stackers don't need physical strength.

  • I never made fun of synchronized swimming. I thought it was both beautiful and athletic from the first time I had ever seen it. Five stars!

  • The best synchronized swimming was the swimming nuns scenes from the Mel Brooks movie. Other than that, it's inane

  • how so?

  • I'm not saying that synchronized swimming is easy. But if that is an Olympic event, so is the tango. Events like this, the floor exercise, and ice dancing should all be cut from the Olympics.

  • well i mean a sport, by definition is something that you practice, and takes skill to do. Ice dancing takes a large amount of skill, same with floor exercises, it all comes down to if there is a competition for it, if its popular enough, it should be in the olympics, could you imagine what giving your life to something, dreaming of one day reaching the olympics, then having people who dont actually know tell you that you cant go to the olympics anymore?

  • ok well why doesn't synchro deserve to be in the olympics? (btw all of ur suggested activities doent require any PHYSICAL skill, and skydiving is just too hard to set up, watch, and judge).

  • @phillyphan32992 those don't require physical STRENGTH. just nimble fingers and a big-ass stomach. fastest typist is, again, finger nimbleness. synchronized sky diving wouldnt work because it would be impossible to judge due to the altitude. biggest chewing bubble gum is, again, mouth skills. your logic fails.

  • @lilbluehersheykiss I was being sarcastic. All of the things require one specific skill, the same way that synchronized swimming does.

Also, Halo requires lots of strategy and teamwork. Hot dog eating is way more than having a big stomach, you need to have willpower and years of training.

All of these things are difficult to do, and synchronized swimming is no exception. But just because they're difficult doesn't mean that they should be in the Olympics.

  • @phillyphan32992 did you not read my thing? i was referring to physical strength and skill. physical skill. not skill, period. and you're saying shaun white isn't an athlete? xD

  • @lilbluehersheykiss He's an athlete in the sense that he partakes in a physical competition. But he doesn't not compete in the type of sport that is actually exciting and worth watching.

  • @phillyphan32992 wait ok so shaun is an athlete. so what makes his sport different from gymnastics or synchro is that it is "exciting and worth watching." that's subjective. i thought you actually might have had a point, but i can see that i'm done here.

  • @phillyphan32992 Sorry to interrupt.... but i was just wondering how you figured synchro requires only one specific skill? if you think that's true i'm not sure you know the training that is involved to become a high- level synch swimmer....at all. you can diss the sport all you want, but only those who are ignorant on the subject of synchro could say that top synchro swimmers are not in peak physical condition. They are some of the fittest athletes in the world.

  • you mean ice SKATING? and how is floor any less olympic-worthy than other types of gym? i dont get why u wanna eliminate all these sports frm the olympics.

  • ok. i agree that to the untrained eye, judging ma seem incredibly biased. and, at times, it is. however, there is a chance for corruption in every sport. bribed referees, unfair tiebreakers, etc etc. however, the judging system is so precise that the scores often come out within tenths of each other-- and the judges hardly converse. about grace, yes sychro is graceful. it also involves A LOT of strength and speed. grace is just icing on the cake.

  • I've seen lots of fluctuating scores during the Beijing Olympics. Many were completely unfair.

Swimming, running, throwing, and shooting are all great Olympic sports. They can all determine winners without much controversy.

  • hm ok, well, you are right, at times there is some of contreversy involving these sports. but they are just so intricate and physically challenging that at times there are a few fluctuations. most of the time, everything is stoic. however, just because it takes a bit more to judge these sports doesn't mean they should be removed from the olympics! the athletes that give their lives up to do synchro or gym or figure would be hearbroken!

  • why? women aren't strong enough? i bet any of those sync swimmers could beat your untrained *ss

  • yes you already made your opinion about that very clear. but this was a reaction to your comment about women events 'The Olympics are about strength and speed, not grace. If I had it my way, there wouldn't even be women's events.' i consider this absolute rubbish because women can be strong and fast just as well. look at those swimmers. im a sync swimmer as well and i kicked my boyfriends ass in speedswimming and hes a fanatical hockey player.

  • @phillyphan32992 so you would remove figure skating, gymnastics, and snowboarding?

  • @lilbluehersheykiss Yeah. Anything that has to be judged is going to be subjected to bias. Other games, like soccer, hockey, any type of race, weight lifting, boxing, wrestling, or curling are great Olympic events. They have a clear cut winner that can be determined by anyone who knows the basic rules. You could get a room full of people who haven't ever seen synchronized swimming to judge an event and nobody in the room would have any idea who won.

  • @phillyphan32992 so? just because it's difficult to judge doesn't make it any less physically deserving than soccer. if both soccer and snowboarding require equal amounts of physical prowess, but one is harder to judge, it's a bit stupid to shy away from all the people possessing the same amount of skill as soccer just because what they do is harder (but possible) to judge. and besides, did you see all the stupid calls the ref made at the world cup? it's not without bias.

  • @lilbluehersheykiss I don't dislike it because it's difficult to judge, I dislike it because it needs to be judged. When somebody sees a goal scored in soccer, they know that the team made a good play. When swimmers perform a hard routine, can the untrained eye really tell the difference?

These types of sports just aren't as exciting for the spectator. There's no pulse pounding moments where time is running out or runners are neck and neck. It's just rather unexciting.

  • @phillyphan32992 so you think it shouldnt be a sport because an untrained eye couldnt judge it and it isn't exciting...? the point of the olympics isnt completely for entertainment. it's so that athletes who have given their lives to perfect a physical skill can compete and say, 'i am the best in the world at what i do.' and many people do find synchronized swimming exciting, and the scoring system is very rigid and precise, but yes, a spectator couldnt judge it. it's a complicated sport.

  • now how about a drama about the loneliness of the long distance runner?

  • Prefontane (Sp?)

  • Great interview! Those swimmers are seriously talented!

  • Anyone that can swim upside down has my praise, never mind if they are competing on an international level.

  • :OOOOOOOOOOO
