  • He is stoned in this film, look at trveling man, taken the same time. Yes he had a lot of problems with pills and the bottle and weed which helped to ruin his career.

  • This is just such a good song!

  • he's so sexyyyy

  • Oiis, love him

  • Fuck Off To Everyone Who Puts Ricky Down He Was One Of Rock & Roll Singers Ever!

  • @Daffyd23 It's true, Ricky was great. His performances on Ozzie & Harriet were the best parts of the show. However, this is a really lame version of the song. Check out the Everly Bros version that says Very Good Quality. the harmonies are nice, but the version has no balls

  • @Daffyd23 yes he was.

  • Wow, he was handsome *3*

  • Roy Orbison (whose immobile style of singing, Nelson seemed to mimic at this early stage of his career) once commented to his fellow Sun Records artists that "Ricky Nelson learned how to sing while producing million-selling records." Nelson's fresh good looks & weekly TV show made him an instant rock 'n roll star even before he learned his craft, but he did eventually produce some memorable recordings. At this time, his theme song seemed to be his hit record, "Teenage Idol."

  • @WALRU11 i disagree.Rick was a natural.his collection of work is hugh and most original.he had a marriage and kids of his own so "Teenage Idol" was just another top 40 hit.remember "Garden Party"?

  • @nomiclas I quoted Orbison but grew up watching Ricky on TV b4 he ever sang. He was learning his craft when he cut his first 45, "I'm Walkin," a fairly primitive rendition of Fats Domino' s hit. But Ricky learned fast, & soon had a pretty cool grove & solid vocal licks. I first bought his records in '57. When he cut "Teenage Idol," (7/62) he was 22 years old) & a solid performer. He married in 1963. Two of my favorties: "Stood Up," & "Believe What You Say." Joel Selvin wrote a fine bio.

  • @WALRU11 i saw the vid with Roy so i know what he said.i guess what i was trying to say was,Rick had a natural voice/talent.just like we all do we learn and perfect.your fortunant to have been able to buy his records from the outset.i've spent decades try to round out my Ricky LP's.i just think he was the best!

  • @nomiclas Ricky Nelson made a major contribution to both Rock 'n Roll & Country by fashioning a fusion country rock sound that was a West Coast equivalent to "rockabilly." He had a fine voice - not with the range of Presley or Orbison - but very pleasant. He had killer iconic rock 'n roll looks & churned out hit after hit. His life, ultimately, was as sad as Presley's. In the end they had only their music & their fans to sustain them. Nelson's wife made his life a living hell. RIP, Ricky.

  • @WALRU11 your right abot his octave range but he sure was smooth.i was curious about your "wife" comment.what did she do to him?

  • @nomiclas Joel Selvin wrote a fine bio of RN that chronicled his wife's descent into madness. Impossible to live with, she would harangue him like a strident shrew when he called in from the road to speak to his children, having to hold the phone several feet from his ear. Band members could hear her cussing him out, screaming & shrieking. He fathered another woman's child in 1981 & divorced Kris in '82. In the end, aside from Helen Blair, he had only the love of his fans to sustain him.

  • @WALRU11 here's a talented, famous man and whats he wind up with?there may be more to this story but i can't understand.maybe "Teenage Idol" makes more sense to me now.

  • @nomiclas Kris spent each dime he earned & wanted more, forcing him to perform up to 300 nights per year. To keep that pace, he opted to buy an airplane, one Jerry Lee Lewis was trying to unload owing to bad wiring. Haranging him for money, Kris forced him back on tour after Xmas '85. On Dec. 31, headed for Dallas, Rick asked Lewis if he wanted a ride. Lewis declined. His drummer said, "If Jerry Lee won't fly in that thing, it's a death trap." En route the wiring burst into flames. All died.

  • Great singer, but seems scared if he smiled, his face would fall off.

  • @softshoes Im 13 and im still growing up with these shows ---> (my dad has them all) :)

  • why'd they add the laugh-track to the weight-challenged clapping woman?

  • it s is beautyfoul

  • que dulce era ricky nelson

  • Rick Nelson is my 6th cousin. My aunt Joy got to meet him backstage when he came home to Ohio. She saw him in Dayton. My Elisabeth Hillard were first cousins. Love him and his music.

  • @DWhite2280 - My 9th grade civics teacher in Quincy, Illinois was his first cousin. :)

  • @sandinmyears1 Cool!!!!

  • @sandinmyears1 What did your teacher have to say about him?

  • @rickysbestgirl - Nothing special. He seemed pretty proud though. We all thought it was pretty neat. I think I learned it when Ozzie Nelson died. I took the Civics class in 1974/75.

  • @rickysbestgirl - Nothing special. He seemed pretty proud though. We all thought it was pretty neat. Ozzie Nelson died soon after that. I took the Civics class in 1974/75.

  • The 14 morons who disliked this wouldn't know good music if it smacked them in the face. Today's music will never be good because songs are written based on what a panel of song writers and music executives think will sell, while in the old days music was written from the heart and soul.

  • "Bye Bye Love" by Ricky Nelson or The Everly Brothers?

  • @Paulohenrique0 It would appear that both had versions of the same song.

  • how can music this old be so damn good! <3

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP because this is actually music..... what you thought that sound you hear these days is music?

  • @WarThug13 Excuse me?? i hate music now a days thank you very much!! i'm just saying it sounds so good but it is so old! and i know it is actually music i love it

  • elvis had a little brother?

  • His autopsy showed that there wer NO DRUGS in his body when he died! Stop slandering him.

  • @sandhorse1 Hi, I'm a HUGE fan of him and i did a report on him, but they did say they found traces of marijuana in his blood,

  • this is rare. I don't think this was ever released.

  • Omg Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo for the people leaving nasty comments. I hope your trailer tips over.

  • That's my baby a lot of people don't know it but he is

  • In those days the TV was in the living room and Mom and Dad sat on the couch and I was on the floor ( don't sit too close to the TV you'll ruin your eyes!!)

Ricky and David, My Three Sons, I Love Lucy, Topper, Ed Sullivan, The Twilight Zone, Amos and Andy, were some of my favorite shows.

And whan I was older, Johnny Carson was the last person I saw before I fell asleep.

It was a very good time and I guess it is now too, I just don't watch too much TV.

  • ANYONE CAN TELL ME WHY HE DIED? AND THE YEAR

  • @JUAREZ1872 I think he was killed in a plane crash in 1985 :-(

  • @hank3rox thanks a lot

  • @hank3rox he died freebasing cocaine in a plane crash

  • @JUAREZ1872 plane crash in 1985 or 86

  • @JUAREZ1872 he died in a plane crash with his wife and band, he was going to a new years eve party in texas on December 31, 1985 at 5:30pm,

  • Funny Rick just doesn't look happy singing this song.

  • Last friday my son and I stopped at a very small country country store and sitting on a bench out front drinking a beer was a young man that was the spitting image of Ricky Nelson and I could tell he was a farmer.while my son went in to buy a couple of beers I started talking with him and he was a very nice person, I wanted to say to him that you look like Ricky Nelson butI decided not to, thats the reason why I looked up Ricky tonight

  • OK Ricky sucked in this and his first attempts but eventually he broke away from being studio cover kid and developed his own style and some great songs.

  • girl on the right :35 soooooo sexyyyyyy

  • Everly Brothers Kick this guys ass but still good song!

    Pretty good!

  • I like all his songs - but this one - no !

The Everly Brothers' version is much better - sorry !

  • renegad0metal + halfliferules212 why are you even here !!??

12345BeatlesFan - what a stupid random comment, and so what if he was. I'm sure his kids along with the rest of us don't give a fuck!

  • what?

  • Why do you slugs like bagorats even click on these videos? Rick Nelson was a wonderful entertainer and you are pond scum...Deal with it you jerk

  • thank god and al gore for the internet :)

  • w-w-w-what?!

  • he's stunning

  • He was gay?

  • @12345BeatlesFan HELL NO, it was just the bioches he married, that it seemed he was gay, i reasure you, he was not gay

  • the coments on here show how the world has changed terribly :( cant we just respect the music and Ricky himself and stop leaving unnecessary sh*t on here?

  • @omarskats3000

my friend, we can tell the world has changed by the simple fact we're seeing ricky on a website. However, good music will never change. The world would be a better place without comment sections so the people you're talking about can't babble on about nonsense.

  • @omarskats3000 i agree very much. i just tripped over "older" songs, and i gotta say it makes me sad. THAT was true music. people leaving immature comments, cause they know no better. Wonderful song. the first i was able to play on guitar ;) ty for making me fall in love with guitars

  • All the immature and disgusting comments about Ricky Nelson are totally uncalled for. Grow up, and acquire some class.

  • Didn't they sing this song on a arthrtis commercial?

  • Ricky Nelson could actualy snort Cocaine off of the shaft of his own penis according to his ex girlfriend Jackie Deshanon.

  • @yourdickis2limp with a 2ft straw anything is possible

  • @gcdugas Ricky Nelson snorted cocaine one night with Fats Domino and wound up getting fucked in his skinny ass.

  • @yourdickis2limp really ? I didn't know that !

  • @Bag0fRats Ricky Nelson was also queer for Rick james and Flip Wilson.

  • @yourdickis2limp I didn't know he was gay.

  • the country sure was white back then

  • @gcdugas actually i think african americans contributed some of the BEST music to the 50's. chuck berry, the cleftones, franki lymon, fats domino....they were all wonderful artists!

  • @omarskats3000

my comment wasn't about the merits of black vs white in music... it was a comment solely on the composition of the audience.

I might also say that the attire was more homogeneous too. No t-shirts with images, letters, design graphics etc. Uniform hair styles too. This was truly the era of "the man in the gray flannel suit". Not much variety... too much conformity and then came the 60s and every social convention was out the window.

  • GOD DAMN THEY HAVE NO FUCKIN FEELING. THE SONG IS SO DULL.

  • @flavoroflove5 Man shut the fuck up you piece of fucking shit.

  • who would dislike this?!

there's always a ricky nelson song you can relate to.

  • You guys are funny!! How old are you guys!

  • He definitley looked like he did NOT want to sing this song I bet they told him to sing this song and he wanted to do somthing more rhythm and blues!!!!

  • he looks SO young here! what is he 17?

  • Some were lucky - a wonderful voice and gooood looks all in one!

  • i am true fan of this guy even though he die years ago

  • Comment removed

  • nice song just the right one for me...

  • they keep showing the same guy smiling at ricky while he's singing in these old performances, like "its late". Ricky mustve made him gay

  • @tetiontkon If you're talking about the guy at 1:48 then that's his older brother David. Most of these older clips are from the "Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" and both Rick and David were on the show.

  • @tetiontkon um wow that's david....and his a proud big brother :) so supportive!

  • wow, he's so young! he must have had a very hectic life. I can barley juggle high school ,homework, and sports at the same time. but ricky had to deal with his acting career, singing career, and education!

on a side note...he's f*cking sexy and I love him!

  • He seems so bored haha.

  • Sorry to say,, you missed alot.

  • Those LIPS! Yum!

  • Ricky is too good looking for words!! <3<3

  • @zeeyahdollluv81 he had a sad look in his eyes, wonder why?

  • got to ov been rickys first hit ?

  • @fullflop Close but his first his was "I'm Walkin", a Fats Domino cover.

  • Thanks for the post.

  • You can sure tell this was from an Ozzie & Harriet TV episode. Ozzie's directing, the classic laugh track, crowd shots and the closeup of Rick's brother David in the last 20 seconds. What a great show for its time.

  • He was so adorable!

  • i wish that there was someone like him now.

  • there were so many good looking male signers back in the day... Ricky, Pat and Elvis are the stand outs... all had different appeals too

  • Hes sexyyy !

    ♥♥

  • @CrushedCrayonzs man he is sexxy o gosh he's smoking hot even for a guy back then and today!

  • LOOK at those killer eyes!!! Almost 60 yrs old, Ricky has left us...but they still make me weak in the knees, LOL! I love ALL his music too!

  • great song

  • the 50's were great. minus the segregation of course.

  • one of my favorites from him.

  • Ricky just drips sex appeal.....l Im not sure if he knows it, or if he is innocent..either way he is HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • Hello Love, Hellooooooooooooo Happiness, Rock'n'Roll just fits i guess.

  • omg fucking hoti fucking hate the world now i wish i was back then legit

  • Rick Nelson's youngest son, Sam, looks a lot like his dad and can really sing! check out his band "H is Orange"

  • A slice of history. I love seeing the Four Preps with him. Good assembly of talent from that era.

  • oh my god he's soo young there!

  • <<<< Would win 1st place in a Ricky Nelson look a like contest

  • Not really a song for Rick - no echo.

  • Tolles Lied, er singt es etwas gelangweit!

Leider ist er zu früh gestorben.

"Ricky Nelson starb am Silvestertag 1985 bei einem Flugzeugabsturz in De Kalb in Texas."

  • a voice liked smoked velvet.

  • We'll no one can beat the Everley's! But,good try! Not much enthusiastic going on. Perhaps he wa asked to sing this song, and his heart wasn't in it,knowing that no one can sing it as well as Don and Phil.

  • I like most of his records but this is pretty darn watered down. It's so lifeless sounding.

  • so cool i was only 4 years old hes so good

  • Did I hear THE FOUR PREPS?

  • NOT ONE OF RICKS BEST.

  • That's not Al Lewis.

  • Yes it is

  • Is thats Grand Pa Munster that introduces him.

  • Actually the main bad guy from Shane

  • was he the first singer of this song?

  • It's a cover of the Everly Brothers' hit.

  • THIS MAN WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!

  • holy crap.. he's soooo handsome! ...but i like other versions of this song. ^_^

  • YES HE IS HE IS HHHHOOOT

  • he sings tooooooo calm man no emotions :( but he's good XD

  • The teen who keeps smiling at him is cute :D Ricky was and always will be in our hearts :):):):)

  • i will take anyone who can sing like him well as well as some other things :D

  • Has this been covered by Simon and Garfunkel?

  • yes it has

  • Lol, if i had a guy like Ricky, i wouldnt even look at any other guy again.

  • Same here !

  • que hermosa canción, tiene buen ritmo, es diferente a la interpretación de los Everly Brothers. Saludos PERU

  • Wow, did he even blink any time at all?

  • Rick gave Elvis a run for his money. I think Elvis was very talented but I liked Rick a lot more. He got into singing because a girl he was dating was swooning over Elvis, so Rick told her he was going to cut a record (just to impress her). Once he said that, he had to do it so she knew he wasn't bluffing. That was the beginning. What a combination--great talent and great looks! One of my all-time favorite singers.

  • he's hott

  • why lol in min. 1:11? que dismcriminadores...

  • Because an older woman was enjoying a "kid" singing a song

  • because the fat lady farted loud..i was there
