In the original NBC network telecasts, the words "SCOTT PAPER COMPANY PRESENTS" appeared on screen during the first nine seconds, with the announcer adding at :05, "Scott Paper Company takes pleasure in presenting...". They were the show's primary sponsor from 1955 through 1960, AND the first season of prime-time repeats during the 1960-'61 season.
@cheeriosinabowl- No, they were not perfect, and most were not like they were portrayed on TV. If you'd ask anyone who grew up, or was a parent back then (that are still alive) they'd say the same thing. Family life was not what you saw on TV. I'm not saying there were no families like The Cleavers on Leave It To Beaver, but back then a lot of families tended to push things under the rug. Especially topics like Sex etc. They were more simple times back then. I hope this helps.

.... yes, I know. I said my original comment joking, tongue-in-cheek.
But you are right, a lot of (then taboo) things were definitely swept under the rug and just weren't talked about and people looked the other way.
Also, I wish times were simply or simpler now ... maybe that's one reason we like the old comedys of days long gone by. Happy New Year to you!
