@jonrskitlez Indeed. There is some certain charm in game done in ex-Soviet area. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. from Ukraine, Witcher and Painkiller from Poland, Cryostasis and other great games from Russia.

What the games lack in graphics or in performance, they make up with incredible atmosphere and/or gameplay.

@Empowerless Cryostasis is from Ukraine too, not from Russian. You forgot Metro 2033, developed by 4A Games (at team made offormer GSC: Gameworld members), it's also a good game, maybe not as good as STALKER or Cryostasis, but recommendable nonetheless. Metro also sports great graphics, but it's slightly better optimized that the other 2 games.

@Xerxes1688 Cryostasis from Ukraine as well? Great! I have borrowed Metro 2033 but I still haven't completed it. It feels almost "too" optimized and streamlined game compared to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. The game feels so far like an american blockbuster shooter in terms of gameplay and graphics (not in terms of atmosphere) which is what I escape from by playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R..

@Empowerless Metro is more of a console shooter (it came for the 360 as well), that's why it feel streamiled, a bit dumbed down and optimized for consolesque controls, whereas Cryostasis and STALKER are PC only games, that's why they are so great. I too prefer games like STALKER or Cryo, rather than the mainstream FPS meant for the CoD and Halo crowds.

I still dont understand the ending of the fairy tale story (The story of Danko and the villagers). Anyways, 1C really produce out good and unique games from Russia and Ukraine I reckon, the storylines are refreshing with a distinct way of telling a story in Russian style.

I´m not saying I didn´t like the game,, but come on!!! dead since the beginning? how can you come up with that? for all I know during the game, I felt, woke up in a hole next to a gate that mysteriously leads to the ship, and at the very very end you found out that Chronos empty the sea  and you were going to die half of mile away of the ship! what I´m saying is that is not well narrate, would you compare it with the narrative in Bioshock? with it´s 2 mayor twist during the game?

You are dead during the whole game. Chronos, the god of time, gave you the chance to save the crew and the ship in order to save yourself. So you change the past to change the future. The story about Danko and his fellows is obviously a symbolization of the captain and his crew. Yeah, the game has a complex storyline and you have to think hard, to get all the context. Only, because you were to lazy to think and used to mow-spray-'n'-run games the developers aren't 'fucked in the head'. Cheers

I think you're right :) i really find this ending beatiful and the game has a great story a really great story but it's not for anyone you have to think to understand the ending unlike other games. And is the Danko story an actual tale or was it designed for the game ?

At the end credit role it says passages were taken from Maxim Gorky's short story The Old Woman Izergil, that I googled it and I think the dating was 1895 or something. So I guess a modern narrative of an old allegory?

Going back to the idea pestarzt had, that is the correct way to get the three endings. Just jump on different fingers. I completed them all in one game, via loading an old save file.

It would be interesting to see what difference the polar bear makes, though.

This is weird, i read in wikipedia that there are 3 endings!

1. The control rod guy doesn't yell at the captain when he comes to him.

2. The officer doesn't show the letter to the capt.

3. The one we just saw.

yup, i had that ending too. but i think it has something to do with of what finger you jump off at the end. each one brings another flashback and possibilty to change past.

I had an HD4850 and the temperature went to like 90°c WHILE the fan was on 70%! So yeah, I don't reccommend playing this game if you have an ATI card...until the patch comes.

Yes Its like STALKER but i have Mailed them and they says they will realise several Patch that fix the gameplay and laggs and all the lagg stuff my ATi had to work 50% hardder then normaly to play the game adn several scenses where it lagged but not mutch and i playe with high realoution and high settings

Do not blame the coding skills, it is because it is a PhysX game, anything that moves is based on that, nVidia has that built onto the cards for better optimization, ATi does not. That is why it is slow.
