The best Driving,I've ever seen Lately. Congratulations. It's funny that the Catherham here in the U.S, are Using the Ford, 2.0 Zetec engines, but only making around 180 H.P. It's not bad for Small tracks. But for long Road racing Like in Nurburgring, you need more Horse Power.
The Caterham really chews on the GT2 in the corners. The Porsche has to brake through corners, the Caterham simply coasts through them without braking.
@nikebauer1993 please upload your own driving and show us your skill. by the looks of your user name you are only 18 years so im sure this wont be very likely.
@xX01RKXx Yeah i was joking dumbass. And i actually just spent 10 days at the Ring in a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, check my channel in the coming days for uploads. Now you just got fucking owned son.
@ramiejose Haha, apologies dude. Its just everyone in england i see with them are like 21 year olds and just because it has black wheels and spoiler they think its a supercar haha
@wilkas222 Indeed...I like how the lotus gets to top speed on the straights and runs out of gear and the GT2 just soars bye...then the curves come and the Caterham earns his way back...really a great video that shoes two philosophies in Car design for the track...
Amazingly good video. Superb driver. Sweet car. Looks like briefly airborne at 1:50. Scare @ 2:10 and 3:50. At 2:10, I think was caused by Porsche cutting all the way across track, upsetting airflow. Seemed unnecessary of the Porsche, and if so, jackass.
@burritomaker69 You could be right. There's a yump there. But I still think the airflow from the Porsche made a difference. Watched the ZR-1 vid at same spot. Higher speed, I'm sure (about 170?), and was fine, but then also had better downforce. I'd say only track4fun can say for sure.
@3333glen Then I guess either one of us could be wrong haha or right. haha he might have just been more prepared or one of the other million possibilities. But who is to say unless we ask him haha.
@3333glen After looking at it again it doesnt quiet seem like it was caused by the gt2s wind spoiling haha it was kinda delayed a second or 2 after he had crossed his path it would be more immediate from my experience haha.
Thanks for your reply, but I've driven many a lightweight rear drive on the track, from an SR20DET powered Datsun 1200 to a turbo 13B rotary Mazda RX7 among many other types of race car.
My experience tells me there's something not right with the tyre/shock/suspension set-up with this car in the video. I've raced alongside Fraser 7 (Lotus 7 replicas) here in NZ at 150 mph + and never noticed them to be this unsettled.
That was brilliant driving by both drivers...but If I was a passenger in the R500 I would have pressed the eject button with pants full of crap numerous times! Testament to the Caterham legend. Amazing bang for the buck!

This guy is doing himself in most of the time. He gets on the power too soon in nearly every corner. he needs to drive a little more relaxed and give it the beans all at once later in the exit. But still thrilling. Totally jealous.
Only three spots on the course where Porsch can make up time. Plus the guy in the 500 was obviously pretty good with his car. Dude in the Porsch was really dainty in the turns. The 500 has one of the best sounds, pure race car magic.
