  • I need to learn this on my drums ;o

  • yeah the drums were great till i saw queen in his mini :X sick!!

  • great drum sound

  • great drumming, rog's the man

  • I love this

  • toms from hell

  • Happy Birthday Roger Taylor <3

  • Hello Canaveral305 ! No it's not double tracked, man. Roger, God bless him, is an old school drummer relying more on drumming techniques rather than technical equppment ;-)

He's actually alternating between the bass drum and the snare to get this "double" effect, besides playing in a rather fast tempo. That''s it.

    Cheers!

  • This is great! Since you have the multitrack of this song, could you maybe please upload the other tracks? It'd especially be great to hear Brian's amazing guitar work on this!

  • 3:33 - murderous look :D

The hell, he is simply Mr. Drummer ♥

  • Love the sound of his Ludwigs !!! Hit toms sound so huge and i love the hi hat work... just fantastic !!!

  • LOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • ideš mali :-))

  • fucking soooperdoooper

  • OH MY GOODNESS I AM WIDE EYED!!!! simply wonderful :D

  • 0:19 LOL the best photo

  • is not real

  • Great Roger...Fantastic!!!!

  • This is cool. Could the person that isolated the drumming from this track do the same with Queen's Sweet Lady because Roger said that it was the most difficult drumming part he ever recorded for the band. Might be interesting to listen to like this is.

  • Thank you so much for the post - where the hell did you get it???????? Not one fucker in this whole wide world could ever come close to Roger Meadows Taylor as a Drummer......................has always been .....always will :) His main influences are Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa and Ginger Baker .....he's taken every good thing from them and combined it to be the greatest drummer of ALL time,........bless you RMT!!!!

  • @diamantinadavina And Mitch Mitchell too!

  • Not one fucker in this whole wide world could ever come close to Roger Meadows Taylor as a Drummer......................has always done .....always will :)

  • THAT WAS F***ING FANTASTIC!

as usual, my dear Roger :)

  • dimostrazione di roger di come si suona la batteria,è un batterista incredibile,sa fare tutto,genio..

  • OMGGG. I've been trying to play this for months! I only got the first minutes right. Can't do it as well at roger D:

  • I adore the drums in Brighton Rock... Actually, everything is perfect in that song, drums, bass, guitar, and vocals!

Thanks for the upload, it's cool to see how one can follow along the song by just listening to the drums: it proves how crucial Roger was for Queen's sound and feel. Even someone who doesn't play drums (like me) can see that.

  • what is the point of just the drums????

  • @newc1531 Point of the video with just drums: To see how skilled Roger is? Or do u mean the point of him recording just drums?

  • @newc1531 You'd understand if you were a musician. That's so great to hear the details of separated tracks

  • very nicee

  • has anybody got the tab for this or know where to find it?

  • Rogers drumming has never impressed me.

  • Think it proves that the 'feel' of drumming is more important than ridiculous technique.Roger had technique in spades but his feel is what really makes it for me.The distinctive hi-hat opening on the back-beat etc. You'll see a million punks on youtube blasting out 300 double-bass beats per second but do you really want to listen to that? No? Roger got the balance of feel/technique spot on. And only used a single bass pedal till the 2005 tour. Getting old by then & probably helped the old legs!

  • omg i love roger taylor he is THE BEST drummer ever

  • I love the sounding of Roger's drums. So meaningful Toms.

When you hear Brighton rock the first to notice is the crazy drum.

  • He was very under-rated. Not for technique as he was a very good meat and potastoes drummer, but his cymbal playing. I also remember as a 8-9 year old listening to 'Live Killers' and looking at thsoe roto-toms and the sounds that he got from them. Just a solid, rooted drummer who never went beyond what he knew he could do. And that's a compliment.

  • Great roger!!!!exellent!!!

  • One word: Roger!!

  • The best technical drumming in Queen songs probably has to be:

    Brighton Rock

    Stone Cold Crazy

And his many drum solos! :)

  • @TheYahara and One Vision and Now I'm Here

  • What a drummer! Proves what I've said all along!

  • this is one of the highlights os his legendary powerful over-the-fill style

  • Roger Taylor!!!

That's all that needs to be said! :-)

  • ...and Now I'm Here, Tie Your Mother Down!

  • my favourite queen song

  • LOOOL.

Love the random cowbell around 0:42 .

  • Can you please do this with some other Queen songs? Roger Taylor is so underrated! Great King Rat, Keep Yourself Alive, Sweet Lady etc. are all great drum songs!

  • @ToyKotoMadman I can't do the same with other songs because i don't have the multitracks of the other songs.....

  • @ToyKotoMadman I love your commet :) imho also Stone Cold Crazy, Bring Back That Leroy Brown, I'm In Love With My Car

  • @ToyKotoMadman and "Liar" and "Son and Daughter"!!

  • @ToyKotoMadman

Listen to innuendo, that's a drum master piece

  • @ToyKotoMadman ,Roger is the rock soul of Queen

  • @ToyKotoMadman

Don't forget Seven Seas, Innuendo and even Seaside Rendevous etc. :-)

  • WHY THAT PICTURE?

  • It is double tracked, right ? You can't use the pedal of the hit hat and a double drum at the same time... still amazing, though

  • @Canaveral305 its only one track....Roger does not use double pedal or double bass drum in any Queen song....he only use double bass drum in the video for i want it all.....

    PD:sorry for my English

  • @raqa Rog uses fowuble bass drum in IWIA - not only video, but audio, but only in one fragment.

  • @Canaveral305

Roger doesnt use double drums or pedal, only the double pedal recently on The Cosmos Rocks.

It is possible if you have a fast right foot.

  • @TheDarkFrontier Wow, I really though it was a double pedal (I admit I found that weird, knowing he hated double drums/pedal) ! He REALLY had a fast right foot, I could never play something like that with one foot !

  • It's not hard at all man...it's only two consecutive hits...i think you're hearing things that are not bass drums...

  • @Canaveral305

How long you been drumming mate?

When I started out I thought fast double hits would be really hard to play, but the more you practise the song the easier it gets :)

  • @TheYahara Well, no shit. ANY drummer practicing ANY song can get it down ( for the most part, I don't believe you'd be sitting here commenting on another drummer's ability if you could drum just as well ).

  • its also possible to heel and toe it.

  • @merqury5

Aye it is :) Some people play faster that way. I started out heel-toeing but I'm just one of those people that play better using toe-heel :)

  • @Canaveral305

Not double tracked, Roger has a very fast right foot. Roger doesn't use double pedal in any Queen song studio, except for the new C-Lebrity.

  • @Canaveral305

It's not a double bass drum or double pedal. Roger has never used a double pedal in any Queen studio song (apart from C-Lebrity). The only times he's used them is live for the big endings they do in songs.

  • @Canaveral305 There isnt any audible double bass in this song anyway? Roger uses a double bass tour kit, for e.g Let There Be Drums he uses a bit of double bass

  • @Canaveral305 heal toe?

  • Comment removed

  • @Canaveral305 Roger only played with a single bass pedal. Double bass is shite.

  • @Robotdrummerzzk He used double bass in I Want It All.

  • Woww! is the Best!!

  • WOW!!! WTF is this???? It really amazedme!!!!

  • genius!!!!!!!!

  • incredible.

    Queen forever!

  • a question to the video publisher:

    did you edit the song?

if you did, can you do the same to "great king rat"??

  • roger forever

    the best

  • perfect!

  • Taylor Mayed07: nitpicking would be the word I'd use there but there we go. Typical Queen fans really. Arguing amongst themselves. You know what I mean don't you?

  • I have been looking for this for some time....excellent. Really admire this drum track and hearing it alone just rules.

  • WOW; what to hell is this?

    Never heard from that snippet!!!

    Awesome, this is Power!

I love Brighton Rock but this is genius!!!!

    Thank you

  • One of my fav Roger pieces. The ride cymbal sounds f-ing sweet!! His sound is so big and powerful.

  • mp3?

  • Check out my video on top ten drummers. I used the Brighton Rock (Drums only) audio in it and it fits the video well.

  • ytgibbo what was the point of all that?

  • grandeeee rogerr!!

  • genius

  • Roger did use to be very much against double-bass as he saw it as "cheating" almost. He was a bit of a purist in that sense, which is strange when you consider that Keith Moon was one of his favourite drummers. On the 2005 tours onwards he did experiment with it and also chimes too. He's over 60 now so maybe it takes the burden off of the old legs too. Whatever Rog, love your style of drumming, keep going.

  • Roger IS NOT over 60....he turned 60 in july

  • You can also hear the bass playing!

  • C de ouff !

  • I have heard this over and over, and i think i will redo my cover of this (which i set as a response here, if you wanna hear) because, i now know exactly how the fills are. Sweeeet kind of crossed paraddidles in the first one, and beautifully placed cowbell on the second one. I HAVE to do that.

  • @DiegusIcarus I don't think its just about technical ability, its also about how well a drummer can be imaginative and actually play to complement a song. I guarantee 99% of the so called drum experts commenting here could not nail this track without serious practice and creativity if Freddy and the band were ready to record in the studio. Its so easy sitting here making comments but get in the throne and show Queen what you got, thats where the talent is.

  • @maccagrabme I would reply your comment... but i honestly cannot remember what i wrote, haha. I swear!! This new YT comment page is so ..just wrong!! Isn't it?

What i would be able to answer is that technique makes it soooo much easier to make your ideas true, in fact, along with technical growth come a whole bunch of ideas. If i can remember anything else, i will let you know, haha.

    Roger FTW

  • good????...fucking amazing u mean :-)

  • THIS is why I love Roger SO MUCH! He is awesomeness personified.

Whew, have to get by breath back after listening to that...too hot to handle!

  • Not in this song, but im pretty sure he uses it in his "Let There Be Drums" solo

  • did he use double bass??

  • no...

  • then how the hell he played it??

only with the tom dreums??, ther's a part wich i really think it's double bass at 0:20.

  • ohh...i don't know!!

  • akedem1: No, the double bass isn't even fast. It's probably the ghost notes on snare drum that confuse you and you mistake them for bass drum strokes.

  • Defo. I use that technique to confuse people!

  • carefully timed ghosts notes and three bass kicks

  • Two bass kicks.

  • No. In fact Roger was really against double bass until the Queen + Paul Rodgers tour where he wanted to experiment a bit. It was all single pedal, he didn't need all double pedals like untalented modern drummers.

  • in which songs in the return of the champions he played with double bass?

  • I'm not sure, but double bass is featured in Let There Be Drums. I'm not sure how much (Or little) it was used inn songs

  • He played a double bass on I want it all i think

  • yeah, and some other songs on that album

  • This is one of the best examples of Roger's combined snare/hi hat technique. Until I got the 24 tracks for this and was able to listen to the isolated drums, i could never figure out for the life of me how he got such powerful snare sounds, and how he was able to differentiate the backbeats from the ghost notes so clearly. Genius at work.

  • roger is my idol....love rog!!!! ...thanks 4 the video!!

  • Wow. Roger is a very impressive drummer. I love this song (obviously!) and with the guitar and vocals so prominent, it's hard to hear just how great Roger was on drums!

  • This is awesome. Roger is amazing! I'm a drummer, and i'm going to be as talented as Roger is. He still is, no matter he's kind of old.

  • hey same here an i too wanna be a drummer look roger =-)

  • This is so sweet. The best ones out there are the a cappella versions. Those are so cool to hear how complex the vocals for every Queen song are.

  • "I'm the number 1", "Yeah!" HAHAHA!!

    Roger Taylor is so awesomeee!

  • greatest drum sound ever.

  • I want more of these!

  • oohhh this is nice =D

  • mmm it seems like you haven't seen last year's tour, have you?

  • yes you bollocks will never play good drum at same his age now. but he did well recently too. so shut the fuck off.

  • that isn't a fact. I doubt that you know what Roger can and can't play. If you mean it's a fact that he is old, then duh!

  • hey guys, it was just an opinion, don't be so aggressive!

  • roger on fire

  • ohh Roger!!!

    best drummer

  • can you make another song please!??!!!!!!!!!!!!!

like death on time or princes of the universe or liar!!

  • Buenisimo

  • roger is a drums God!

  • roger is hot!!!! wonderfuuul!

  • No you are hot!!!!!

  • what?

  • Excellent, amazing, great, awesome, rocking drums, majestic. A mark From 1 to ten...10 billions!!!! I like the sound of the riding bells and of course the hi hats in whole song. The riding bell is according to the song in the verse singin line..."little maaagic in the air I will my"...etc before the 3 crashes. Excellent. I would like also to hear 7 seas of rhye I like that drum line too. Is one of my favourite too!

  • Magnifico!!!

  • one word

    AMAZINGGG

  • Man, I've been looking for the 24-track master of this EVERYWHERE and can't find it. I found Bohemian Rhapsody and Killer Queen, but this one's impossible to find.
