Thank you to the person who posted the video. I love this song as it was one of my mother' favourites, however she passed away last year. I have been trying to learn this on the guitar but no luck so far.
This is the first song I learned to play all the way through. That was long ago. I'm an old fart now, but I was a very young fart when I learned it. Perhaps I was not a young fart...perhaps I was a young whippersnapper....I have alzheimers now so I can't remember shit.
Only hit that's like saying Neil Armstrong only went to the surface of the noon ONCE The impact of this song cannot be imagined in hit on the charts but the impact on so many people over the last 37 years GREAT song GREAT singer with so many GREATER songs listen and learn lyrics tell real stories LISTEN
We used to sing this song in assembly in my primary school - singing it along with thousands at Cropredy last year really was a special moment . Can't wait for Cropredy this summer! : )
This song was taught to me by a beautiful Belgian girl in London in the summer of '73. I had never heard it before. She was 17, i turned 20 in her embrace. She's back there in my memory and out in the world somewhere. I'll never forget her or the song, which brings back . back a flood of memories. Thank you, Ralph
I love this song, heard it for the first in my life when I was 12 years old on German TV (1974), and I was really very happy to have the chance to be at the Cropredy Festival this year to watch him alive 35 years later (47 now!!!), I enjoyed it very much, his set was one of my highlights!!
thanks for posting this. there really isn't enough footage of ralph on youtube! i saw him in croyden last year and it was the best thing i'd seen that year!
Thanks for doing this as I got too carried away just being there and singing away with the rest of the crown..As ever Ralph was awesome. Roll on Cropredy 2010!
What memories this brings back to me on my 60th Birthday. Wonderful!!

How many musicians sound better 40 years on than they did "back in the day"?
Not many, and Ralph is certainly one.
Great video, well done.
