  • Is this a cooking video, or a history video? Have you tried cooking more, and talking less?

  • thanks for all the religious bull crap before the recipe.

  • @FreeFunnChicago Anti-Semiticism is not flattering on anyone.

  • i think lee hyori's potato pancakes looks good and different from this. makes me wonder if ur right...

  • Lol read my username

  • this is so different???

  • You really talk to much...

  • i like korean food, korean dramas, and KPOP!!!! this looks really good......

  • Wow I don't think that the history lesson was appropirate. Thanks for the recipe though

  • the history lesson took longer than the cooking lesson

  • Do you need corn flour or can you use regular flour?

  • @memi3259 Sure, you can use regular flour or you can try them without flour at all and experiment a little bit and figure out what you (and your family) prefer.

  • I think you mean grams of cornflour rather than Milligrams of cornstarch in the recipe section.

BTW, you rock! And I enjoyed the history lesson.

  • SNSD@!!!!

  • @allgoldenweek Nope, the music on here is NOT SNSD! LOL!

  • lol, i thought i was watching some history lessons.

  • Hi,

Enjoyed your video and I like your recipe.

I lived in Chuncheon for almost a year back in 1973. While serving korean potato cakes one night my 5 year old daughter asked if that's what the jewish people in korea ate.

  • @gklales There are approximately 100 Jews in Korea according to the census but they are all expats.

  • sorry to say this but I don't think thats Korean way

  • @crappyasiana it is Korean way.. what do u think

  • i wanted a recipe, not a history lesson

  • ummm...is this a Korean potato pancake video or an education video for Jewish history??? So out of place....!!

  • Crazy eyes

  • The recipe preparation was interesting. However, could have done without the religion.

  • Is this a cooking programme or a history lesson !!! lol

  • why did you talk about hannukah and jews for half of the video when the title is KOREAN POTATOE PANCAKES?

  • Because if you know anything about Jewish and Korean history, the similarities in the two occupations (Syrian Greek v. Japanese) are uncanny. It shows you that history does repeat itself, over and over and over again!

  • ooh the pancakes looks awesome! :D i remember watching a korean celeb cook this in a show, and it looks yummy! thanks for the recipe, i'm absolutely going to try it ^^

  • @kiweee92 : Do you mean Lee Hyori?? ^.^ On Family Outing ?? ~~ If I'm wrong .. I'm sorry haha <3

  • niceful~~~~*^^*

  • 5 stars for firesquaw

  • Where can I get the large potatos? I can only find very small ones around here.

  • If the smaller ones are the only ones you can find, you can use them and grate them with a food processor.

  • Great!!

  • five stars from me girl

  • Well you've got 5***** from me

Now i wish i could cook, hehe i do love to try out all kinds of different food

  • oww okey xD

  • Russian: yohjiki (translation: little hedgehogs)

xD At least that's what we always called them.

  • That's too cute! Little hedgehogs. I'll tell my friends that.

  • Potato Pancake:

    Korean: 감자전

    Swedish: raggmunk

    Swiss: Rösti

    Polish: placki ziemniaczane

  • Thanks for the Polish definition! I added it to my list! Kahmsamnida!

  • Kamsahamnida*

  • we in Poland have similar food, I like it very much.

  • Nice ! your Skills are same with koreans !

    Great job xD

  • waiitt!...are youu sure this is a potato pancake :D:D??

  • yumyum. ill try that tamar... bdw, do you have any other recipe that its main ingredient is also potato? Thanks!

  • Check out my potato salad video.

  • First of all, the person in the video is not a "dude". Second of all, one of the reasons this video was made was to fulfill the Hanukkah mitzvah to tell the story of Hanukkah during the festival.

  • I didn't know that was a mitzvah! I'm on it.. who should I call? lol

  • I used this video to fulfill the mitzvot (Hebrew for "instructions") of pirsumei nisah, or "revealing or divulging the miracle" of Hanukkah.

  • i totally agree...its a history lesson:D:D!!

  • ultra cool video. Thanks.

  • what???? someone wake me up when the cooking starts ! LOL

  • LOL!!!

    you guys are crazy

  • wow.. it looks crispy and delicious.. thanks for the recipe. ^-^

  • Thanks for the recipe!

  • WOw!! Very informative!! and I really like your red hair!! I didn't expect to find a video on this in English!! Thank you! ^_^

  • your making me hungry lol

  • hehe so many men slavering over you, it is a guilty pleasure to read your video comments while listening to your history quick bits.

  • Nice recap of Channukah, Tamar!

그리고, 이 비디오를 보니, 내배가 고파졌네요!

    Thanks.

  • is this a history video or a cooking video?

  • Both. Is that a problem?

  • Shrimp are not kosher so I would never eat anything with shrimp in it. If you have the time or talent, you should make a video making shrimp kamjajeon.

  • I am getting hungry~

  • It looks really good Tamar. I think it's easy enough for me to make :). The ginger pear sauce looks good too.

  • I love your videos because they're so informative! I love how I learn a little something along with the cooking and you have a very pleasant voice. Make more videos. :)

  • Thank you for sharing this beautiful video with us!

I will try to make these Korean latkes :-)

  • U woman are so goooooooooooooood!!

  • "Good job" for trying to incite hate on Korean.. :/

  • do a search koreans discovered america and founded inca mayan and aztec civilization

  • Are you suggesting to find these info from the internet? If so, how reliable they are? If it's really show some evidence from archeology research, then it's more belivable.

Don't get me wrong. I do believe Koreans are as capable, smart, and talent people.

  • it was on korean news news . chosun . com / site/data/ html_dir/2007/12/21/2007122100763 . html

    remove the spaces

  • This is the theory of ONE professor. Beware of college professors from any country making wild pronouncements. They have a "publish or perish" mentality in academic circles. They have to make more outlandish claims to get promoted.

OTOH, it is a well established theory that Native Americans share common DNA with North Asians (Koreans, Chinese,Japanese Mongolian) so the professor might be extrapolating from that point.

But this conversation has nothing to do with this video.

  • will have a look.

  • Well... not sure if this is a reliable source. But I intend to think Tamar1973 has a point there...

  • nice

  • Thanks, I'll have to try that. BTW, you sound Canadian.

  • I was born in Northern Montana, close to the Canadian border.

  • Can you believe I didn't have a single latke this Channukah? Sad but true! This looks delicious! Keep up the wonderful work and may HaShem bless and keep you! ;)

  • Are you going to have some latke's this year? : )

  • Indeed, there's a latke cook-off being done by some folks at the synagogue and I plan on being there with bells on and a fork in my hand! :)

    Chag Channukah Semeach!! :D

  • yum!

  • I think any self respecting Cajun would endorse this dish too :)

  • Interesting. I did not know you are Jewish. I think I've read about Jews in South Korea living and teaching English there or living there for other reasons. There's even a synagogue I've read about in South Korea that some Jews go to, which is in a military base; even some Koreans attend the services.

Thanks for your unique spins on Korean culture! Those latkes look so good, I want to eat them all.

  • Thanks Tamar. It looks yummy and I hope I can try it before 2009. Happy New Year.

  • Watch Out Rachael Ray! The Latkes Looked Great! I Even Think My Picky Husband Would Eat These.

  • Thanks, Tamar. Happy Holidays!

  • Informative and useful...great job with the recipe and the specialty dipping sauces!

  • As usual...good job!

  • easy, delicious, exotic and new (new at least for me)

  • will try it tomorrow XD

  • I know I'd love the sauces you prepared, but at home it's ketchup for me!

  • Tammy, this is a really exceptional vid--where you interweave cooking and history in a rich contextual manner. Your work with the Korean pear is always laudable. Your vids are always 5 stars with me! Happy Hanukkah! L'chaim!
