@memi3259 Sure, you can use regular flour or you can try them without flour at all and experiment a little bit and figure out what you (and your family) prefer.
I lived in Chuncheon for almost a year back in 1973. While serving korean potato cakes one night my 5 year old daughter asked if that's what the jewish people in korea ate.
Because if you know anything about Jewish and Korean history, the similarities in the two occupations (Syrian Greek v. Japanese) are uncanny. It shows you that history does repeat itself, over and over and over again!
ooh the pancakes looks awesome! :D i remember watching a korean celeb cook this in a show, and it looks yummy! thanks for the recipe, i'm absolutely going to try it ^^
First of all, the person in the video is not a "dude". Second of all, one of the reasons this video was made was to fulfill the Hanukkah mitzvah to tell the story of Hanukkah during the festival.
Shrimp are not kosher so I would never eat anything with shrimp in it. If you have the time or talent, you should make a video making shrimp kamjajeon.
I love your videos because they're so informative! I love how I learn a little something along with the cooking and you have a very pleasant voice. Make more videos. :)
Are you suggesting to find these info from the internet? If so, how reliable they are? If it's really show some evidence from archeology research, then it's more belivable.
Don't get me wrong. I do believe Koreans are as capable, smart, and talent people.
This is the theory of ONE professor. Beware of college professors from any country making wild pronouncements. They have a "publish or perish" mentality in academic circles. They have to make more outlandish claims to get promoted.
OTOH, it is a well established theory that Native Americans share common DNA with North Asians (Koreans, Chinese,Japanese Mongolian) so the professor might be extrapolating from that point.
But this conversation has nothing to do with this video.
Can you believe I didn't have a single latke this Channukah? Sad but true! This looks delicious! Keep up the wonderful work and may HaShem bless and keep you! ;)
Interesting. I did not know you are Jewish. I think I've read about Jews in South Korea living and teaching English there or living there for other reasons. There's even a synagogue I've read about in South Korea that some Jews go to, which is in a military base; even some Koreans attend the services.
Thanks for your unique spins on Korean culture! Those latkes look so good, I want to eat them all.
Thanks sis Tamar...love the whole video with history & cooking lessons. The latkes looks delicious and that Korean pear sauce sound yummy! Will definitely try it sometime. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy & Healthy 2009!
Tammy, this is a really exceptional vid--where you interweave cooking and history in a rich contextual manner. Your work with the Korean pear is always laudable. Your vids are always 5 stars with me! Happy Hanukkah! L'chaim!
wow ~~ that looks yummy~~~ Yep..I love to dip my vegetable pancakes with soy sauce. your dipping sauces look very very interesting. Where did you get the recipes ?? good fusion Korean food...wow.. by the way.. it's potato..but not potato salad I was waiting for..WHERE IS MY POTATO SALAD !!! Hhehe..thanks for great video.
