  • I go through Jaywick alot, and believe me, i have never had any problems! Locals always smile - and, okay, it may be a bit rough around the edges, but hey, it was never mean't to be a permanent settlement of any kind.

  • passed through the front of jaywick today. not many of the houses were burnt out, but alot of them were borded up & rather rough around the edges.

just realised, the house at 0:34 has changed allot since the pic was taken & it does look rather humble now (sep 2011)

i think what one of the major problems of jaywick is industry......there's nowhere TO work. if there were jobs it could help the locals by providing them with the much needed jobs the community needs to thrive & change.

  • Obviously none of you small-minded judgemental people actually LIVE in Jaywick.

Everyone is really friendly and it is a real community. Theres also not as many burnt out houses as this video shows so where your getting material from is beyond me!

Also, as for 'nasty drug dealers and chavs' the majority of people who live in Jaywick are elderly, I've never seen an OAP walking down the street in a tracksuit selling drugs!!

  • we have made a much funnier version

    the "Jaywick Calypso"

    search for it on youtube

  • they should drop a bomb on it mite improve it

  • Jaywick is full of drug dealers and people that will literally sell their dignity for any amount of money. Some people may say that it was because the ass holes where brought up bad and never with a lot of money but that is no excuse. If the bastards has payed attention at school then Jaywick could've been a decent place. But no instead it is full of people that can't be bothered look for jobs, but instead scronge off people, drug dealers, chavs, dickheads and shit faces that blame everyone else

  • Essex is pretty shit, but Jaywick puts Essex to shame!!!!!!!!

  • the council want the scum out so they can sell it. as they want luxury houses built.

  • when i worked here installing street lighting and getting rid of all the burnt rubbish. all we got was abuse from many people.

  • So sad : ( I live not to far from Jaywick and it has the most awesome beach.Their has been talk over the year"s about sorting the Town out.Less talk more action me think"s..!!When going to Jaywick market last year i spotted a woman selling & was disgusted at the fact her son roughly 10year"s old called her a fucking c..t.O the people..!!!

  • all you people trying to say jaywicks not that bad are clearly among the 90% of jaywick residents on smack, stop trying to polish a turd!

  • it could be worse

  • I live in Jaywick / Clacton but it has gotten better since then it has some nice new parks new shops and all of the houses have been sone up its great int he summr on the beach :) x plus this was 2007 its 2010 now so eah it is better :)

  • @RoseThornish me too now :D and yes it is getting better but is still a shithole in jaywick looool

  • I live in Jaywick / Clacton but it has gotten better since then it has some nice new parks new shops and all of the houses have been sone up its great int he summr on the beach :) x

  • i used to love this place in the 1980 s to 2000 lots changed not safe to go no more .

  • It's not without its issues, but you're right, this IS a cruel little film. It still doesnt manage to detract from my sense of affection for Jaywick. Ive just seen a short film called 'Our Coast' (Jaywick featured), made by teenagers at Clacton Coastal Academy. They intended to say something about exactly these social issues, but discovered equally much positive to say. The resulting film is a little love story really for a stretch of coast so many of us cherish, with its problems intact!

  • cruel yes,but so true

  • cheaking this from facebook its damn better than vid says

  • Its not so bad now, all those crap houses have been demolished and replaced. Cheaking this page from facebook? I think its a damn good place for our needs ;)

  • I stayed with my cousins in jaywick and sorry to say it jaywick is a fucking shithole. What a fucking cesspool. People living in bloody sheds fuck that. The best thing for jaywick is about a thousand pounds worth of high explosive.

  • It's like the British version of Flint, Michigan!

  • i live less than 2 miles from here, it is a dive proper shit.

although there are some decent residents there who are hardcore Jaywicans who will live there till they die.

A different house "catches" fire pretty much weekly, and you run out of fingers counting the crackheads at night.

it will struggle to ever be rebuilt as most residents will fight their houses being demolished until the end, and to be honest are probably a big factor in jaywicks decline, and lack of new properties

  • i heard they got a new playground. It lasted about two days. :)

  • funny, sad, but maily funny. Those people are so sad to live there. | want to give them money, but i dont want to increase their drug and alcohole adiction, so...

WATCH MY VIDS OR I WILL RATE UR VIDS BADLY! MWOHAHAHHAHAG (cough, cough) HAHAHAAAA!

  • Most of the drap places have been bulldozed, and with new of 75 more bad ones in the pipeline to be bulldozed too, IF there owners do not meet strict timescales to rebuild them, but then theres the problem.

No one is ALLOWED to take down and rebuild anymore, its against new local planning policies, as laid down by our local planning department, the same one thats being investigated by the police for corruption.

I`ll leave you to make up your minds why jaywick was left as it was...

  • Me and my mates had some great time in Jaywick in the late 80's.. Drinking in the Mermaid and going to the social club thing. Then into Wacky Clacky!! Great days..

  • @mrska1 yeah, me too! Late 80's with mates Steve, Howard and Adam. Ha, happy days. Didn't know it was so run down now.

  • went there in the mid 80s it wuz really nice .like most places that get neglected they get shabby. happy days

  • the reason the rubbish was under the sign is, the residents asked the dustcarts not to go down the road. how ever T D C in their widsom said that they can no lopnger put the rubbish there. so now with two dustcarts going down the roads they are getting more dammaged. i drive one of the dust carts and the residents allways say hello and are polite. when i go to other areas they look down on us as if we were scum of the earth. Jaywick is a good area that needs attention

  • This is really sad :( I used to live on Garden Road, had a great childhood there, but the area was going downhill when we left in '95. I didn't know it had gotten this bad.

There's no excuse for the council to not be doing their part here, especially with the funds in reserve we all KNOW they have. Pretending they can lock the problems away in one little area is a big mistake. It WILL spill over into Clacton if it hasn't already. Sort it out Tendring!!

  • This is a cruel little film.

  • I agree. This film totally misrepresents Jaywick.

  • Jaywicks still a nice place its just run down in this area

  • jaywick is comparable to the slums in india or the shanty towns of brazil - you grow up hating the world and desperatly trying to get out - hoping that one day you can be on the otherside looking in

  • leave jaywick alone i have so many happy memories of going on my hols there .when i was young i take my own kids there now.and they love it .its not like this vid now. jaywick still rocks

  • lmaooooooooo i was there last week hahahahahaha i saw bill mitchall from eastenders :D his mum and dad live der lol

  • Yea i know I go down there billy micheal and my dad know each other from school SO EVRYBODY U THINK JAYWICK IS SO CRAP NOW WHAT YA THINK WITH A PART OF EASTENDERS BLOOD IN IT U DIS ONE ESTER THE JAYWICKS WILL COME GET YA JAYWICK HAS FREEDOM!

  • i live in jaywick it is nothing like this video

  • I'm sorry for being rude about your home town, the video obviously does not do it justice :)

  • thats ok but its a lovely place to live and work please watch jaywick movie on you tube

  • who ever made this film go back to jaywick now all them burnt houses have been rebuilt stop trying to make it look worse then it is

  • if jaywick is so shit why did the goverment just spend 12 million on a new beach

  • certified shithole

  • better than weyyyals, u merlon

  • i know people there there all scum haha i live 10 min down the road i wont be givin them the steam off my shit haha

  • That was a really sad video. It wasn't like that back in the 60s and 70s. I used to go there on holiday as a child. It was a nice place.

  • What a sad sight, but it's certainly not all like that. I used to spend my childhood holidays there in the 60s and 70s when it was a great place to go. I visited again last year after twenty-nine years away and it had changed but not so much that I didn't recognise it. It looks as if there are plans to regenerate the area and I hope it will happen as it certainly deserves it.

  • I can understand your sensitivity now that there has been redeveloped, but you must appreciate that people have been gullable enough to donate £2 amonth to pay for it.

  • my aunt lives in jaywick!, she has lived there for 7 years! at first it was a mess, she had her house built!, i went there last week, jaywick is completley different, this video shows the same building over and over, the roads are better, new buildings, and there aint any yobs there!!!, its very relaxing and peaceful.

  • sado come look at Jaywick now all them buildings was getting pulled down you idiot thats why they were like that der!!!!!!!!!

  • jaywick is a bit of a mess wasnt as bad last week when i was there compared to this video atleast they have had the road next to the sea wall tarmaced so thats a start. i will say that all the people in jaywick are weird bastards who sit in their front gardens all day tho.

  • What is the backing track please anyone?

  • Sounds like David Grey, but I can't be sure.

  • i am disgusted with your uncaring and insensitive comments the residents of jaywick work very hard to keep this skum infested junkie pit looking like that nuke jaywick now or has that already been done?

  • wow i had a shock 2find loads of homes in elvis and brooklands with smashed out windows.the walkways are a mess and homes are trashed.why has cctv been put up yet all this gos on.how come police let this happen.why are the gangs not got a asbo 2leave jaywick?.

everyone is spending to much time calling jaywick a shithole when the real probs being missed.take the bad familys away and it will change TDC u should be so sorry for this its your doing

  • wot a dump better off going to beriut for hols

  • No Tipping sign - all you are seeing there is the weekly rubbish that's been put out on Thurs/Fri by the people in that road. It's clear the rest of the time.

Most of those houses were recently bought up by buy to let landlords and for some ungodly reason they did up so far and then left to fall into disrepair.

The people who actually live in Jaywick care very much about the homes they live in.

I'm sick of people always showing this one part of Jaywick and just the bad parts there.

  • Too right rgb. As you said on another post Brooklands has issue, but hey, issues can be sorted. Its always been hip to knock Brooklands cos the human race has to have something to pick on. Brooklands is different so it gets picked on. Yeah it can be turned around, but no buy to let money grabbing landlord is gonna do it cos they dont care aboutit. All they care about is the money they are gonna get, not the community. Respect to your words rgb.

    FREEDOM FOR JAYWICK

  • Jaywick could be better man but we gotta take control ourselves and fight for it. Those run down pads, supposin the people were to take them over and do them up? Some money grabbing landlord the Police and no doubt council would be on our backs. Hell to the authorities I say we do it man.

    FREEDOM FOR JAYWICK

  • Just how I remember it!

  • bet ur a clacton bod

  • The Slum Hole Of England

  • vid must be OLD jaywick is cleaner now.

  • you must be taking the piss mate??! clean and Jaywick? never!

  • gawd bless jaywick...still...they got a lovely beach!!!

  • clacton is chav land.

chavs from clacton invade jaywick lol

  • Good talk there Princess. 90% of Jaywick's problems have always been caused by outsiders - yet jaywick gets the blame anyway. Time to fight back!!!

    FREEDOM FOR JAYWICK

  • great vid m8.shame the landlords play a big part in how jaywick looks today.

once was a great place 2injoy life.

now its so run down it will take lots of work 2ever put jaywick back on the map.
