I go through Jaywick alot, and believe me, i have never had any problems! Locals always smile - and, okay, it may be a bit rough around the edges, but hey, it was never mean't to be a permanent settlement of any kind.
passed through the front of jaywick today. not many of the houses were burnt out, but alot of them were borded up & rather rough around the edges.
just realised, the house at 0:34 has changed allot since the pic was taken & it does look rather humble now (sep 2011)
i think what one of the major problems of jaywick is industry......there's nowhere TO work. if there were jobs it could help the locals by providing them with the much needed jobs the community needs to thrive & change.

Obviously none of you small-minded judgemental people actually LIVE in Jaywick.
Everyone is really friendly and it is a real community. Theres also not as many burnt out houses as this video shows so where your getting material from is beyond me!
Also, as for 'nasty drug dealers and chavs' the majority of people who live in Jaywick are elderly, I've never seen an OAP walking down the street in a tracksuit selling drugs!!
Jaywick is full of drug dealers and people that will literally sell their dignity for any amount of money. Some people may say that it was because the ass holes where brought up bad and never with a lot of money but that is no excuse. If the bastards has payed attention at school then Jaywick could've been a decent place. But no instead it is full of people that can't be bothered look for jobs, but instead scronge off people, drug dealers, chavs, dickheads and shit faces that blame everyone else
So sad : ( I live not to far from Jaywick and it has the most awesome beach.Their has been talk over the year"s about sorting the Town out.Less talk more action me think"s..!!When going to Jaywick market last year i spotted a woman selling & was disgusted at the fact her son roughly 10year"s old called her a fucking c..t.O the people..!!!

It's not without its issues, but you're right, this IS a cruel little film. It still doesnt manage to detract from my sense of affection for Jaywick. Ive just seen a short film called 'Our Coast' (Jaywick featured), made by teenagers at Clacton Coastal Academy. They intended to say something about exactly these social issues, but discovered equally much positive to say. The resulting film is a little love story really for a stretch of coast so many of us cherish, with its problems intact!

Its not so bad now, all those crap houses have been demolished and replaced. Cheaking this page from facebook? I think its a damn good place for our needs ;)
I stayed with my cousins in jaywick and sorry to say it jaywick is a fucking shithole. What a fucking cesspool. People living in bloody sheds fuck that. The best thing for jaywick is about a thousand pounds worth of high explosive.
i live less than 2 miles from here, it is a dive proper shit.
although there are some decent residents there who are hardcore Jaywicans who will live there till they die.
A different house "catches" fire pretty much weekly, and you run out of fingers counting the crackheads at night.
it will struggle to ever be rebuilt as most residents will fight their houses being demolished until the end, and to be honest are probably a big factor in jaywicks decline, and lack of new properties
funny, sad, but maily funny. Those people are so sad to live there. | want to give them money, but i dont want to increase their drug and alcohole adiction, so...
WATCH MY VIDS OR I WILL RATE UR VIDS BADLY! MWOHAHAHHAHAG (cough, cough) HAHAHAAAA!
Most of the drap places have been bulldozed, and with new of 75 more bad ones in the pipeline to be bulldozed too, IF there owners do not meet strict timescales to rebuild them, but then theres the problem.
No one is ALLOWED to take down and rebuild anymore, its against new local planning policies, as laid down by our local planning department, the same one thats being investigated by the police for corruption.
I`ll leave you to make up your minds why jaywick was left as it was...
Me and my mates had some great time in Jaywick in the late 80's.. Drinking in the Mermaid and going to the social club thing. Then into Wacky Clacky!! Great days..
the reason the rubbish was under the sign is, the residents asked the dustcarts not to go down the road. how ever T D C in their widsom said that they can no lopnger put the rubbish there. so now with two dustcarts going down the roads they are getting more dammaged. i drive one of the dust carts and the residents allways say hello and are polite. when i go to other areas they look down on us as if we were scum of the earth. Jaywick is a good area that needs attention
This is really sad :( I used to live on Garden Road, had a great childhood there, but the area was going downhill when we left in '95. I didn't know it had gotten this bad.
There's no excuse for the council to not be doing their part here, especially with the funds in reserve we all KNOW they have. Pretending they can lock the problems away in one little area is a big mistake. It WILL spill over into Clacton if it hasn't already. Sort it out Tendring!!
jaywick is comparable to the slums in india or the shanty towns of brazil - you grow up hating the world and desperatly trying to get out - hoping that one day you can be on the otherside looking in
leave jaywick alone i have so many happy memories of going on my hols there .when i was young i take my own kids there now.and they love it .its not like this vid now. jaywick still rocks
Yea i know I go down there billy micheal and my dad know each other from school SO EVRYBODY U THINK JAYWICK IS SO CRAP NOW WHAT YA THINK WITH A PART OF EASTENDERS BLOOD IN IT U DIS ONE ESTER THE JAYWICKS WILL COME GET YA JAYWICK HAS FREEDOM!
What a sad sight, but it's certainly not all like that. I used to spend my childhood holidays there in the 60s and 70s when it was a great place to go. I visited again last year after twenty-nine years away and it had changed but not so much that I didn't recognise it. It looks as if there are plans to regenerate the area and I hope it will happen as it certainly deserves it.
