  • the 455s are the fuckin most important discovery in railway historysince the train itself. 455s are the ONLY train.

  • 455s...The only decent class of train that operates on South West Trains today.

  • there are my fav and the best class

  • there the best

  • were is that at 8:39 and 7:36?

  • Hi, they're taken on a pedestrian bridge over the railway, and the other on the path next to the bridge.

The bridge is near Motspur Park, on West Barnes Lane. Take a look at the google map of the area, and you will see the road follows the track betwen where West Barnes Lane crosses the railway on the level crossing, and where bushey road crosses both West Barnes Lane and the railway tracks.

It is about 200 meters south from where Bushy road crosses the tracks and West Barnes lane.

  • Hi there, 0:28 is at Claygate, on an old bridge at the end of Claremont Road, looking South, with Claygate station in the distance along the track, behind the camera.

6:06 is in New Malden, about 300 meters south west of the station, on Raby Road, where you can see the track over the low fense. The camera is pointing up the hill towards New Malden station its self. This is where the kingston loop splits from the mainline to woking etc.

  • were is that at 5:09?

  • Hi there, it is at Effingham Junction Station, on the road bridge right next to the station, looking North. The line on the left goes to Waterloo via Oxshott, Claygate, Surbiton etc and to the right is the line that goes to Waterloo via Bookham, Leatherhead, Epsom and Raynes Park etc.

Let me know if you want details of any other locations.

  • ok thanks

  • Where can i buy this dvd I NEED it!

  • why does one carridge on the 455 have a flat roof?

  • The second batch of 455s have one carriage that is flat as those carriages are taken from older Class 508s to save money.

In the mid 1980s the Class 508s that were transferred to Merseyrail were originally 4 carriage trains when on the Waterloo routes, but were reduced to only 3 cars when transferred.

Therefore to cut production costs, the Class 455/7s built between 1984-85 used the existing surplus carriages from the Class 508s instead having newly constructed carriages.

  • class 455 is my fav class nice one

  • Wow what a great video. Brilliant editing. Also it puts a routine and highly thought of class into a different perspective. Saw this of the link you put on RailUK.

  • I have to say, that is one of the best produced and edited videos I have seen on YouTube for a fair while. Good subject too :) 5* + favourtie.

  • Violinings, thank you for your kind comments, they are much appreciated!
